Some microorganisms, including fungi, are characterized by their removal efficiency and reducing the concentrations of heavy metals such as Pb and Cr from industrial water. The present study aims to estimate the efficiency of Penicillium digitatum (Pers.) Sacc. as a low-cost biosorbent in reducing Pb and Cr from industrial water with optimum biosorption conditions (acidity of 1.5 , 4, and 5; temperature of 30 °C). The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was also used for determining the roles of the functional groups in this biosorbent. The results indicated that the highest P. digitatum efficiency values for reducing the levels of Pb and Cr were 84% and 70% , respectively, at pH of 5 after 24 h.

This research investigates solid waste management in Al-Kut City. It included the collection of medical and general solid waste generated in five hospitals different in their specialization and capacity through one week, starting from 03/02/2012. Samples were  collected and analyzed periodically to find their generation rate, composition, and physical properties. To determine the relationship between hepatitis C virus infection and Diabetic mellitus type 2 , twenty patient's with diabetic mellitus type 2 aged (30-61) years old have been investigated from 01/11/2014 to 01/02/2015 and compared with fifteen parentally healthy individuals. All the studies groups were carried out to measure anti-HCV Abs by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), There was significant elevation (P≤0.05) in the HCV Abs compared with control groups .The percentage of HCV Abs was 15% and there was highly significant (P≤0.01) differences between studied group, while there was non-significant differences (P≥0.05) between patients groups according to age and gender compared with control groups.
