Abstract

This study investigates the mechanical compression properties of tin-lead and lead-free alloy spherical balls, using more than 500 samples to identify statistical variability in the properties in each alloy. Isothermal aging was done to study and compare the aging effect on the microstructure and properties.

The results showed significant elastic and plastic anisotropy of tin phase in lead-free tin based solder and that was compared with simulation using a Crystal Plasticity Finite Element (CPEF) method that has the anisotropy of Sn installed. The results and experiments were in good agreement, indicating the range of values expected with anisotropic properties.

The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of Malaysian Gelam honey in inflammation-induced rats. Paw edema was induced by a subplantar injection of 1% carrageenan into the rat right hind paw. An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the effect of AL-coholic extract alkaloid of Cordia myxa leafs in fourth larval stage of lesser grain borer Rhyzopertha dominica. Using alkaline extracts of 8%, the study has been shown clear effect increased in mortality rate for fourth larval stage 93.3% and degressed to 66.6% at 4% concentrate to 13.3% with control treatment .Ahigher percentage of pupal mortality 16.6% at 4% concentrate has been observed, while no natural emergence carried out at concentrates of 4.6% comparing with control treatment of 86.66%, at the same time percentage of deformation has been increased to 16.66% at 4% of extracts and degressed to 6.66% at 6% while no deformation have been shown with control treatment .

Bathyplectes curcurlionis (Thomson) is the sole parasitoid encountered in west Baghdad parasitising larvae of alfalfa weevil Hypera postica (GylIenhal). Percent of parasitisation did not exceed 8% in 1989 and 1990 and overall rate of parasitisation was 5%. Additional reduction in percent of parasitisation caused by presence of the fungal pathogen Erynia phytonomi. High survival percent of weevil's larvae under the study conditions explains why this insect is a key pest of alfalfa. Suggestions were made to inhance the role of B. curcurtionis in controlling the weevil.
