The Relationship of Noise Pollution to the Mental Health of Among University Students
...Show More Authors

The present study deals with the relationship of noise pollution to the mental health of university students, through the researcher field study with the use of descriptive Correlative approach to investigate this relationship. Noise is one of the elements of environmental pollution that people often expose to in their environment. The problem of noise has been exacerbated now because of cultural and technological progress in crowded cities. As a result, the researchers studied noise as an environmental stimulus that affects the mental health of the human being. The researchers, through their current research try to study a very serious problem, which is the problem of noise pollution on the health side of university students as a hindrance to the educational process that occurs inside the lecture hall and as a threat to the continuity of human life. The sample of the current study consisted of (200) students from the basic education faculty of the University of Babylon, and the researchers presented the sample of the research tool, which intended to identify the sources of noise pollution in the colleges, in addition to the period of time to which they are subjected to noise pollution for five days. The researchers have developed a degree (85) decibels is the degree allowed to expose to noise, depending on what the International Convention on Exposure to Noise. The results showed the following: 1) there was a group of sources of noise pollution, which affect together and continuously on the mental health of university students. 2) There is an effect of gender on the level of noise pollution among university students; this effect showed a greater risk to females than males that leads to a significant reduction in the physical and psychological health of students. 3) The research sample suffers from the low level of their mental health compared to the average satisfactory. 4) Gender did not show an effect on the level of students’ mental health. 5) There is an inverse correlation between the level of exposure to noise pollution and mental health of university students. A set of appropriate recommendations and Suggestions presented as follow:

  1. Environmental protection officials should take into account the preservation of the health of students in the Universities from the effects of various pollution, especially noise, which poses a complete threat to public health.
  2. University students in all Iraqi universities should pay attention to their physical and psychological health by taking all necessary precautions to protect themselves from the dangers of environmental pollution.
  3. Spreading health and cultural awareness through the media and communication represented by television, radio, newspapers and magazines as well as guiding wall leaflets to educate people about what constitutes environmental pollution, especially noise, a threat to their health and psychological safety.

Suggestions:

1 -Designing an educational program to develop environmental awareness of the impact of various environmental pollution among university students.

2 - Studying the impact of waste pollution on the mental health of university students.

3 - Studying the sources of environmental pollution in Iraqi universities

A survey on bio-signal analysis for human-robot interaction
...Show More Authors

<span lang="EN-US">The use of bio-signals analysis in human-robot interaction is rapidly increasing. There is an urgent demand for it in various applications, including health care, rehabilitation, research, technology, and manufacturing. Despite several state-of-the-art bio-signals analyses in human-robot interaction (HRI) research, it is unclear which one is the best. In this paper, the following topics will be discussed: robotic systems should be given priority in the rehabilitation and aid of amputees and disabled people; second, domains of feature extraction approaches now in use, which are divided into three main sections (time, frequency, and time-frequency). The various domains will be discussed, then a discussion of e

The research aims at:
1 - Detection of the degree of social values (truthfulness, honesty, cooperation) of the
primary first class students who compose members of the research sample in general.
2 - Are there significant differences at the level (0,05%) between the average degree of
members of the research sample in the values (truthfulness, honesty, cooperation) among
students enrolled and not enrolled in kindergarten and in general.
3 - Are there significant differences at the level (0,05%) between the mean scores of
individuals in the sample values (truthfulness, honesty, cooperation) in the light of two
variables: A - Gender (male / female), b - enrolled and not enrolled in kindergarten.

A Comparative Evaluation of Post-Operative Pain and Function after Gingival Depigmentation Using 940 Nm Diode Laser And Conventional Bur Method: 6 Months Study
...Show More Authors

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of diode laser (λ=940 nm) in the management of gingival hyperpigmentation compared to the conventional bur method. Materials and methods: Eighteen patients with gingival hyperpigmentation were selected for the study with an age between 12-37 years old. The site of treatment was the upper gingiva using diode laser for the right half and the conventional method for the left half. All patients were re-evaluated after the following intervals: 3 days, 7 days, 1 month and 6 months post-operation. Pain and functions were re-evaluated in each visit for a period of 1 day, 3 days and 1 week post-operation. Laser parameters included 1.5 W in continuous mode with an initiated tip (400 μm) placed in

Competitive biosorption of Pb(II), Cr(III), and Cd (II) from synthetic wastewater onto heterogeneous anaerobic biomass in single, binary, and ternary batch systems
...Show More Authors

Biosorption of lead, chromium, and cadmium ions from aqueous solution by dead anaerobic biomass (DAB) was studied in single, binary, and ternary systems with initial concentration of 50 mg/l. The metal-DAB affinity was the same for all systems. The main biosorption mechanisms were complexation and physical adsorption of metallic cations onto natural active functional groups on the cell wall matrix of the DAB. It was found that biosorption of the metallic cations onto DAB cell wall component was a surface process. The main functional groups involved in the metallic cation biosorption were apparently carboxyl, amino, hydroxyle, sulfhydryl, and sulfonate. These groups were part of the DAB cell wall structural polymers. Hydroxyle groups (–O

Background: Masseter muscle is one of the most obvious muscles of mastication and considered as one indicator of jaw muscle activity. It has a major influence on the transverse growth of the midface and the vertical growth of the mandible. This study undertaken to determine the role of cephalometric analysis for discrimination between Cl I and Cl III skeletal relationships, determine the role of ultrasonography in determination of masseter muscle thickness, compare masseter muscle thickness between Cl I and Cl III skeletal relationships, and determine the effect of gender on masseter muscle thickness. Material and Method: The sample of the current study consisted of 70 Iraqi subjects 40 males and 30 females with age ranging 18-25 years. The

The ligand [Potassium (E)-(4-(((2-((1-(3-aminophenyl) ethylidene) amino)-4-oxo-1,4- dihydropteridin-6-yl) methyl) amino)benzoyl)-L-glutamate] was prepared from the condensation reaction of folic acid with (3-aminoacetophenone) through Schiff reaction to give a new Schiff base ligand [H2L]. The ligand [H2L] was characterized by elemental analysis CHN, atomic absorption (A.A), (FT-I.R.), (U.V.-Vis), TLC, E.S. mass (for spectroscopes), molar conductance, and melting point. The new Schiff base ligand [H2L], reacts with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cr(III) and Cd(II) metal ions and (2-aminophenol), (metal : derivative ligand : 2-aminophenol) to give a series of new mixed complexes in the general formula:- K3[M2(HL)(HA)2], (where M=Mn(II) and
