Improving the Direction of Arrival Estimation Using the Parasitic Subspace Generated by Active-Parasitic Antenna (APA) Arrays

The improvement in Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation when the received signals impinge on Active-Parasitic Antenna (APA) arrays will be studied in this work. An APA array consists of several active antennas; others are parasitic antennas. The responses to the received signals are measured at the loaded terminals of the active element. The terminals of the parasitic element are shorted. The effect of the received signals on the parasites, i.e., the induced short-circuit current, is mutually coupled to the active elements. Eigen decomposition of the covariance matrix of the measurements of the APA array generates a third subspace in addition to the traditional signal and noise subspaces generated by the all-active antenna receiving array. This additional subspace, the parasitic subspace, is accompanied by very small eigenvalues (approaching zero). Hence, a complete orthogonality between this subspace and the column space of the steering matrix of the array can be obtained. As a result, better resolution in estimating the DOA can be achieved. Several simulations in conjunction with the MUSIC algorithm, which have been conducted in this work, depict that the APA array outperforms the all-active antenna array as a direction finder, regardless of the size of the array, the number of active elements, or the number of measurement snapshots. Furthermore, super-resolution DOA estimation can be achieved when a subset of the parasitic subspace is used as if the measurement were noiseless. Also, the APA array contributes to very small RMSE values over a wide range of S/N of the received signals.

Improvement of Diesel Fuel Engine Performance by Nanoparticles Additives

This study was done to investigate the impact of different nanoparticles on diesel fuel characteristics, Iraqi diesel fuel was supplied from al-Dura refinery and was treated to enhance performance by improving its characteristics. Two types of nanoparticles were mixed with Iraqi diesel fuel at various weight fractions of 30, 60, 90, and 120 ppm. The diesel engine was tested and run at a constant speed of 1600 rpm to examine and evaluate the engine's performance and determine emissions. In general, ZnO additives' performance analysis showed they are more efficient for diesel fuel engines than CeO. The performance of engine diesel fuel tests showed that the weight fraction of nanoparticles at 90 and 120 ppm give a similar performance,

Some Theorems of Fixed Point Approximations By Iteration Processes

Abstract<p>The purpose of this paper, is to study different iterations algorithms types three_steps called, new iteration, <italic>M</italic> <sup>∗</sup> −iteration, <italic>k</italic> −iteration, and Noor-iteration, for approximation of fixed points. We show that the new iteration process is faster than the existing leading iteration processes like <italic>M</italic> <sup>∗</sup> −iteration, <italic>k</italic> −iteration, and Noor-iteration process, for like contraction mappings. We support our analytic proof with a numerical example.</p>

Spectrophotometric determination of cefixime by charge transfer complex formation

Simple, sensitive and economical spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the determination of cefixime in pure form. This method is based on the reaction of cefixime as n-electron donor with chloranil to give highly colored complex in ethanol which is absorb maximally at 550 nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration ranges 5-250 µg ml-1 with high apparent molar absorptivities of 1.52×103 L.mole-1. cm-1.

Preparation of Polyvinyl Alcohol/ Tio2 Nano Fiber by Electrospinning

ِabstract:In this research we prepared nanofibers by electrospinning from poly (Vinyl Alcohol) /TiO2. The spectrum of the solution (Emission) was studied and found to be at 772 nm, several process parameters were such as concentration of TiO2 , and the effect of distance from nozzle tip to the grounded collector (gap distance). The result of the lower concentration of, the smaller the diameter of nanofiber is. Increasing the gap distance will affect nanofibers diameter.

Corrosion inhibition of Zinc by Imidazol in Acidic Media

The inhibitive effect of imidazol on the dissolution of Zn in (1M) HCl has been studied. The inhibion effect of imidazol ,protection efficiency and the corrosion rate of Zn in (1M) HCl were investigated at various concentrations (1x 10-3 – 5x10-3) M and tempearture range (285-328) K. The corrosion inhibitive of Zn by imidazol was studied using weight loss measurement and analytical titration of the amounts of dissolved zinc in acidic solution in presence and absent of imidazol.
