Serviceability Performance of Externally Prestressed Steel-Concrete Composite Girders

The behavior of externally prestressed composite beams under short term loading has been studied. A computer program developed originally by Oukaili to evaluate curvature is modified to evaluate the deflection of prestressed composite beam under flexural load. The analysis model based on the deformation compatibility of entire structure that allows to determine the full history of strain and stress distribution along cross section depth, deflection and stress increment in the external tendons .
The evaluation of curvatures for the composite beam involves iterations for computing the strains vectors at each node at any loading stage. The stress increment determined using equations depended on the member deflection at points of connection. The proposed model results for load –deflection response are compared with experimental data taken from Auyyb's beams. For beams with
straight tendon profile the average discrepancy reached 5.77%, 8.48% and 5.23% corresponding to the 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 of the maximum load, respectively. For beams with the draped tendon profile, the average discrepancy of the analytical deflections values reached 15.5%, 5.8% and 6.45% corresponding to the 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 of maximum load, respectively.

Improvement of Diesel Fuel Engine Performance by Nanoparticles Additives

Two types of nanoparticles were mixed with Iraqi diesel fuel at various weight fractions of 30, 60, 90, and 120 ppm. Performance of Different Concatenated Coding Schemes for CDMA System

In this paper different channel coding and interleaving schemes in DS/CDMA system over multipath fading channel were used. Two types of serially concatenated coding were presented. The first one composed of Reed-Solomon as outer code, convolutional code as inner code and the interleaver between the outer and inner codes and the second consist of convolutional code as outer code, interleaved in the middle and differential code as an inner code. Bit error rate performance of different schemes in multipath fading channel was analyzed and compared. Rack receiver was used in DS/CDMA receiver to combine multipath components in order to enhance the signal to noise ratio at the receiver.

Recycling of Waste Compact Discs in Concrete Mix: Lab Investigations and Artificial Neural Networks Modeling

This study aimed to investigate the incorporation of recycled waste compact discs (WCDs) powder in concrete mixes to replace the fine aggregate by 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Compared to the reference concrete mix, results revealed that using WCDs powder in concrete mixes improved the workability and the dry density. The results demonstrated that the compressive, flexural, and split tensile strengths values for the WCDs-modified concrete mixes showed tendency to increase above the reference mix. However, at 28 days curing age, the strengths values for WCDs-modified concrete mixes were comparable to those for the reference mix.
