(4R)-2, 3-(2`-chloro-2`- carboxyl)-1, 3-dioxolano-4- (2- dimethyl –dioxolane -yl) ascorbic acid (HL), a derivative of L-ascorbic acid was prepared by the reaction of 5,6-O-isopropylidene–L-ascorbic acid with trichloroacetic acid in alkaline medium. Seven new metal ion complexes of this ligand (HL) were prepared through its direct reaction with the chlorides of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) ions respectively. The new ligand and its ion metal complexes were characterized applying elemental analyses,1H and 13C NMR, IR as well as UV-Visible spectra.   In 2010, the tomato leaf miner Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) was reported for the first time in Iraq. The larvae can feed on all parts of tomato plants and can damage all the growth stages. The main host plant is tomato, Lycopersicon esculentum, but it can also attack other plants in Solanaceae family. In this study it was found attacking alfalfa plants, Medicago sativa in Baghdad Province. This finding reveals that alfalfa also serves as a host plant for T. absoluta in Iraq.

This study was designed to monitor the ambient air pollution in several sites within Baghdad City of Iraq. The readings started from May 2016 to April 2017. The highest concentration of sulfur dioxide (SO2) was 2.28 ppmm-3 while nitrogen dioxide (NO2) was 3.68 ppmm-3 and suspended particulate matter was 585.1 ?gm-3. This study also included estimating the value of the air pollution tolerance index (APTI) for four plant's species Olea europaea L., Ziziphus spina-Christi (L.) Desf, Albizia lebbeck(L.) Benth. and Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh. Were cultivated on the road sides. Objective of the study was to rate and analyze the physical fitness of female students from Iraq and Russia to find similarities, differences and regularities. Sampled for the study were 44 female non-sporting students: 20 students from Pedagogical University in Bagdad; and 24 students from Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism in Moscow. The study was designed to obtain the joints flexibility, coordination, speed-strength and static endurance rates.
