We presented here a 65years old lady with an unusual presentation of a large epigastric hernia of twenty years duration .The swelling was occupying all the right hypochondrial region .The diagnosis was made on r^E^a-operative identification of the defect in the linea alba which wassutured after removal of the hernial sac and its contents .The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient remained with no complications or recurrence for more than two years follow up.
Background: The morbidity and mortality of congenital diaphragmatic hernia is related to the severity of lung hypoplasia ,pulmonary hypertension and associated anomalies.
Patients and methods: fifty nine consecutive patients with surgically proved diaphragmatic hernia (excluding hiatal hernia) were included in this prospective study. All patients were seen at Al- Kadhymia hospital for children and Al-Mustansyria hospital, in the period from January 2003 to December 2009.Plain chest x-ray was done for all the patients understudy, but barium study was arranged for only nine patients.
Results: There were fifty nine child with congenital diaphragmatic hernia , Bochdalek hernia forms 81.4% of all congenital
Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents the second most common malignancy and the fourth most common cause of cancer deaths. CRC can manifest early with bright red bleeding per rectum, tenesmus, and altered bowel habits. These symptoms are often attributed to benign lesions, including anal fissure. Our objective is to highlight the alarming scenario of an anal fissure masking the clinical features of an underlying colorectal cancer in healthy middle-aged patients.
Case Report
Our case report aims to discuss how congruent clinical features of benign-looking anal fissure can delay the diagnosis of rectal cancer. In January 2019, a healthy forty-four years old Iraqi male with no famil

The patients fear from pain and surgeons need full relaxation and co-operation to do successful hernia repairMethods: purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of local anaesthesia in inguinal hernia repair.prospective study was made from January 2011-0ctober 2013 , on a total of 50 patients with inguinal hernia operated on under local anaesthesia. Patients were selected primarily on the basis of their willingness to accept the procedure after the technique was described to them. Results: In this study 50 patient and 58 herniorrhaphies done for them during a period of about 34months were evaluate

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of Large-lifting and Large-supplemented modules as a generalization of lifting and supplemented modules. We also give some results and properties of this new kind of modules.

The goal of this research is to introduce the concepts of Large-small submodule and Large-hollow module and some properties of them are considered, such that a proper submodule N of an R-module M is said to be Large-small submodule, if N + K = M where K be a submodule of M, then K is essential submodule of M ( K ≤e M ). An R-module M is called Large-hollow module if every proper submodule of M is Large-small submodule in M.
Background: Mesh infection after hernia repair is a devastating complication. Preoperative prediction of high risk patients may be useful to avoid infections. This study aims at evaluating risk factors for mesh related wound infection in our setting.
Patients and methods: This prospective cohort analysis study included 120 patients underwent ventral hernioplasty with polypropylene mesh from October 2009 to February 2013 at Baghdad Teaching Hospital. Clinical data analyzed to determine risk factors of mesh related wound infection.
Results: After one year follow up for each of 120; 21 patients (17.5%) developed mesh related wound infection. Predictors of infection were: age ≥ 45 years, BMI≥35 kg/m2, diabetes mellitus, past histor
Background: Techniques of Inguinal hernia repair have seen an evolution from the pure tissue repair to the prosthetic repair and in the recent years past to laparoscopic repair. High recurrence rates using fascia for the hernia repair or the use of sutures under tension prompted the development of polypropylene mesh to reinforce the posterior wall of the inguinal canal. The aim of this study is to compare the post operative results of Lichtenstein mesh technique with Dar ning repair.<br />Patients and methods:-A prospective study of "100" patients with inguinal hernia were conducted to evaluate two methods, of open repair of inguinal hernia Lichtenstein mesh technique with Traditional non-mesh technique (modified Bassini or Darning)
