Swine Flu 2009, Morbidity and Mortality in a Sample of patients Admitted in Al-kindy Teaching Hospital
...Show More Authors

Objective; swine flu is known to be caused by influenza A subtypes H1N1,H1N2, H2N3, H3N1, and H3N2, was first proposed to be a disease related to human flu during the 1918 flu pandemic, Iraq face the epidemic of 2009, many patients admitted to the medical word of alkindy teaching hospital, the clinical features were observed and managed according to WHO protocols.
The aim of the study; is to asses some features of morbidity and mortality of swine flu epidemic admitted patients in 2009 in alkindy teaching hospital.
Methods; A total 131 patients with suspected influenza
admitted to Alkindy Teaching Hospital all complain of
fever more than 38c, sore throat with or without cough.
The admitted patients are of two main
groups;a)seventeen secondary school pupils on their
return from US,b)one hundred fourteen patients
admitted from October till end of December 2009.
History ,clinical examination and routine investigations
for all patient in addition to blood samples and swabs
from nose and throat were taken and sent to the central
lab to test for H1N1 by PCR(real time).
Results; fifty three (42%) of our patients found to have swine flu by positive test (real time PCR). It show that there is no relation of age whether young or old to being infected with swine flu or non swine flu (p>0.05). Table 2 also show that gender had no relation to possibility of infection with both non swine flu and swine flu influenza (P <0.05). We found that there was no difference of mortality between swine flu and non swine flu types (p>0.05) and pneumonia are more commonly associate influenza of negative test for swine flu virus (p<0.001). headache is more common in swine flu while chill is more common in non swine flu (p<0.05) in addition diabetes is more commonly associate swine flu than other types of influenza (p<0.05).
Conclusion; This study concluded that mortality in
swine flu influenza is not different from mortality in
non swine flu influenza. Also age and gender had no
relation to possibility of having swine flu infection .
Pneumonia found to be more in non swine flu,
headache associate swine flu more than non swine flu
and chills associate swine flu. Diabetes associate swine
flu more than non swine flu but smoking had no
relation

Measurement of the radioactivity in raw materials used in the ceramic industry in AL-Ramadi ceramic factory using (HPGe) detector
...Show More Authors

In this research, we have measured specific activity concentrations in five samples for raw materials used in ceramic industry in AL-Ramadi ceramic factory by using (HPGe) detector. The results have shown that, the average specific activity, for 238U, 232Th and 40K are equal to (18.300±6.4 Bq/kg), (17.988±6.1 Bq/kg), (167.952±63.5 Bq/kg), respectively.  In order to assess the radiological hazards of the radioactivity in samples, radium equivalent activity, absorbed gamma dose rate, indoor and outdoor annual effective dose rates, gamma Index and both (external and internal) hazard effects have been calculated. All results were found to be less than the allowed global limit given by (UNSCEAR, 2000).

The Geographical Analysis of Health's Field for Families in Al-Adhamiyah and Rusafa Districts in 2016: سمر حسين عكله, و صلاح محسن جاسم
...Show More Authors

This research aims to analyze the indicators of spatial variation in the guide of health field in both Al-Adhamiyah and Rusafa districts according to the environmental and administrative units in 2016. The analysis was done by groups of health guide indicators. The objectives of the study were to identify the spatial variation of health services and assess the health situation for families following the environmental and administrative units of the studied area. Such objectives can be done by specifying the extent of the families’ consent to the type of services, measuring the cases of deprivation, and identifying the most deprived areas. The study has finally concluded that there is a clear spatial variation between the indicators and

Optimization of Electrocoagulation Process for the TSS and Turbidity Removal in Al-Qadisiyah Water Treatment Plant in Baghdad City by Response Surface Methodology
...Show More Authors

Electrocoagulation process was employed for the treatment of river water flows in Iraq. In this study, a batch Electrocoagulation process was used to treat river water taken from Al - Qadisiyah water treatment plant. electrolysis time, voltage and inter-electrode spacing were the most important parameters to study . A statistical model was developed using the RSM model. The optimum condition after studying the parameter effect the process was 1 cm separating, 30 volts . The RSM model shows the ideal condition of removal for both the TSS and turbidity at 1 cm, 20 volts and 55 min.

Prevalence and localization of the posterior superior alveolar artery in relation to the floor of the maxillary sinus and alveolar crest among sample of Iraqis using computed tomography
...Show More Authors

Background: Posterior superior alveolar artery (PSAA) is branch of the maxillary artery. It usually supplies the lateral wall of the sinus and overlying membrane. Evaluation and awareness of the anatomy of maxillary sinus before surgery is crucial to avoid surgical complications. The aim of this study is to examine the prevalence, location of the (PSAA) in relation to the floor of the maxillary sinus and alveolar crest using computerized tomography (CT) scans. Materials and Methods: This study included 180 Iraqi subjects (99 males and 81 females) with age more than 16 years old. CT scans for (right and left) Maxillary sinuses were done for each patient. The information obtained was assessed in a coronal multi planar reconstructions images (

Performance Prediction in EDM Process for Al 6061 Alloy Using Response Surface Methodology and Genetic Algorithm
...Show More Authors

The Electric Discharge (EDM) method is a novel thermoelectric manufacturing technique in which materials are removed by a controlled spark erosion process between two electrodes immersed in a dielectric medium. Because of the difficulties of EDM, determining the optimum cutting parameters to improve cutting performance is extremely tough. As a result, optimizing operating parameters is a critical processing step, particularly for non-traditional machining process like EDM. Adequate selection of processing parameters for the EDM process does not provide ideal conditions, due to the unpredictable processing time required for a given function. Models of Multiple Regression and Genetic Algorithm are considered as effective methods for determ

Groundwater situation before production and after production stoppage in Al-Mishraq Sulfur field-1, northern Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study dealt with the reality of groundwater before Sulfur production in the Al-Mishraq field-1 and after production stopped in the field, by measuring the groundwater table for (44) wells in 2021, and comparing it to the groundwater table measured by the Polish company Centrozap in 1971, the groundwater table was a range between (187.71-205.8)m in 1971, but in 2021 it ranged was between (188.51-196.55)m.
Maps of the groundwater movement and water table were created using these data. It turned out that there was little change in the direction of groundwater flow; in both cases, the flow is from the west and northwest towards the east with a slight slope toward the southeast and the Tigris River. As for hydraulic properties, it w
