Measuring Lower Uterine Segment Thickness Using Abdominal Ultrasound to Predict Timing of Cesarean Section in Women with Scarred Uterus at Elwiya Maternity Teaching Hospital
...Show More Authors

Background: Ultrasonography has been used to examine the thickness of the lower uterine segment in women with previous cesarean sections in an attempt to predict the risk of scar dehiscence during subsequent pregnancy. The predictive value of such measurement has not been adequately assessed. Objectives: To correlate lower uterine segment thickness measured by trans abdominal ultrasound in pregnant women with previous cesarean section with that measured during cesarean section by caliper and to find out minimum lower uterine segment thickness indicative of integrity of the scar. Methods: A prospective observational study at Elwyia Maternity Teaching Hospital, from January 2011 to January 2012. A total of 143 women were enrolled in the study. Those women who were included were pregnant with gestational age (36-40) weeks, all had history of previous one or more cesarean section. Transabdominal ultrasound measurement of thickness uterine segment thickness done with moderately full bladder before delivery and correlated with these measured directly during operation using a caliper. The sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound calculated with positive and negative predictive value. Results: The sensitivity and specificity of trans abdominal ultrasound in detecting patient at risk of scar dehiscence in patient with previous and cesarean section not starting uterine contractions were very high 90%and 92% respectively with positive and negative predictive value of 90% and 92% respectively with a cut off value of uterine segment thickness of 4.5 mm. It was also has high sensitivity and positive predictive value of 93.4% and 93% respectively with patients that started labor but with low specificity and negative predictive value of 50% and 38% respectively with the same cut off value. Conclusions: Sonographic lower uterine segment thickness is a strong predictor for uterine scar defect in women with prior Caesarean section. However, no ideal cut-off value can yet be recommended, whenever uterine contractions started. But this method carries a high sensitivity and specificity in patients who did not start uterine contractions with a cut-off value of 4.5 mm.

Enhancing Upper Limb Prosthetic Control in Amputees Using Non-invasive EEG and EMG Signals with Machine Learning Techniques
...Show More Authors

Amputation of the upper limb significantly hinders the ability of patients to perform activities of daily living. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a novel approach that combines non-invasive methods, specifically Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electromyography (EMG) signals, with advanced machine learning techniques to recognize upper limb movements. The objective is to improve the control and functionality of prosthetic upper limbs through effective pattern recognition. The proposed methodology involves the fusion of EMG and EEG signals, which are processed using time-frequency domain feature extraction techniques. This enables the classification of seven distinct hand and wrist movements. The experiments conducte

Future Visions and its Relationship with Illegal Immigration among Next to Graduation Students
...Show More Authors

The current study was concerned to address these gaps in literature by identifying: first level and type of future visions among the next graduation student, second level and type of future visions among the sample according to gender (Male- Female), third level of the illegal immigration among the sample, fourth level of the illegal immigration according to gender (Male, Female), and finally the relationship between future visions and illegal immigration. To achieve the aims of the current study, the researchers created a questionnaire for the future visions. The psychometric properties (e.g. face validity, structure validity, and reliability) were tested. Base on the current sample, results showed that the questionnaire had sound psych

The researcher studied transportation problem because it's great importance in the country's economy. This paper which ware studied several ways to find a solution closely to the optimization, has applied these methods to the practical reality by taking one oil derivatives which is benzene product, where the first purpose of this study is, how we can reduce the total costs of transportation for product of petrol from warehouses in the province of Baghdad, to some stations in the Karsh district and Rusafa in the same province. Secondly, how can we address the Domandes of each station by required quantity which is depending on absorptive capacity of the warehouses (quantities supply), And through r

Can electrocoagulation technology be integrated with wastewater treatment systems to improve treatment efficiency?
...Show More Authors

Considerable amounts of domestic and industrial wastewater that should be treated before reuse are discharged into the environment annually. Electrocoagulation is an electrochemical technology in which electrical current is conducted through electrodes, it is mainly used to remove several types of wastewater pollutants, such as dyes, toxic materials, oil content, chemical oxygen demand, and salinity, individually or in combination with other processes. Electrocoagulation technology used in hybrid systems along with other technologies for wastewater treatment are reviewed in this work, and the articles reviewed herein were published from 2018 to 2021. Electrocoagulation is widely employed in integrated systems with other electrochemical tech
