Cancer Patients’ Experiences and Understanding of Venous Thromboembolism
...Show More Authors

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE), comprising deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), presents an extra challenge in the management of patients with cancer, given the increase in morbidity and mortality in having both conditions. Cancer patients are well known to have a high risk of VTE; particularly; those who have had major surgery, chemotherapy and/or hormonal therapy. These groups of patients need to understand the risk factors and the prophylactic measures to prevent developing VTE. This review aims to provide an overview of the literature on cancer patients’ understanding of VTE and their experiences of cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT).

Method: A scoping review was carried map the literature and explore the types of evidence available. A structured electronic search was conducted in Embase, Scopus and Medline in June 2020. All titles and abstracts from the search were evaluated independently by two reviewers and disagreements were resolved by a third arbitrator. Eligible papers were qualitative studies and reviews of adult patients' experience of cancer-associated thrombosis.

Results: Ten articles met the inclusion criteria, nine primary qualitative studies and one systematic review that explored cancer patients’ experiences of living with CAT. Participants had various cancer types. Most had advanced disease and were receiving palliative care. Four major themes emerged from the data: Lack of meaningful information on CAT, cancer patients unaware of signs and symptoms of VTE, limited awareness of CAT amongst HCPs and acceptability of anticoagulant.

Conclusion: All the studies explored patients’ experience of VTE in the cancer context, and all included studies showed that participants had limited information about VTE, VTE risk and VTEs’ signs and symptoms. However, no qualitative studies explored patients' understanding of VTE in prophylactic settings in high-risk cancer patients.

Technical education in Iraq Composed of, a complex system of technical competence and scientific, technical and administrative, which extends to cover large areas of the country and constitute a vicious circle between economic development, social and cultural rights through middle-management on the one hand, and between academic knowledge and political decision-making, which aims to bring such development On the other hand, in the light of that education is the actual technical extension applied to create the idea of complementarily between them. In Iraq, have been distributed institutes and technical colleges to achieve those goals, in addition to realizing the idea of integration between them and community, and integration of t

Calculating the Vertical Displacement using the Method of Least Squares Adjustment and 3D Objects Fitting
...Show More Authors
Abstract
In this research, the Iraqi flagpole at Baghdad University, which is the longest in Baghdad, with a height of 75m, was monitored. According to the importance of this structure, the calculation of the displacement (vertical deviation) in the structure was monitored using the Total Station device, where several observations were taken at different times for two years the monitoring started from November 2016 until May 2017, at a rate of four observations for one year. The observation was processed using the least square method, and the fitting of circles, and then the data was processed. The deviation was calculated using the Matlab program to calculate the values of corrections, where
... Show More

Comparism Between Transvaginal Cervical Length Measurement and Digital Examination in Prediction of Imminent preterm Delivery
...Show More Authors

BACKGROUND: Preterm labour is a major cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality, so it is important to predict preterm delivery using the clinical examination of the cervix and uterine contraction frequency. New markers for the prediction of preterm birth have been developed such as transvaginal ultrasound measurement of cervical length as this method is widely available. OBJECTIVE: To determine, whether transvaginal cervical length measurement predicts imminent preterm delivery better than digital cervical length measurement in women presented with preterm labour and intact membranes. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Two hundred women presented with preterm labour between 24 and 36+6 weeks of gestation were included in this study. All women subjecte

Synthesis, Molecular Modeling, DNA Damage Interaction, and Antioxidant Potential of Hesperidin Loaded on Gold Nanoparticles
...Show More Authors

The flavonoglycone hesperidin is recognized as a potent anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antioxidant agent. However, its poor bioavailability is a crucial bottleneck regarding its therapeutic activity. Gold nanoparticles are widely used in drug delivery because of its unique properties that differ from bulk metal. Hesperidin loaded gold nanoparticles were successfully prepared to enhance its stability and bioactive potential, as well as to minimize the problems associated with its absorption. The free radical scavenging activities of hesperidin, gold nanoparticles, and hesperidin loaded gold nanoparticles were compared with that of Vitamin C and subsequently evaluated in vitro using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay. The antioxi
