Inguinal hernia repair under local anaesthesia
...Show More Authors

Background: For various reasons, inguinal hernia repair under local anaesthesia is not well accepted to both patients and surgeons. The patients fear from pain and surgeons need full relaxation and co-operation to do successful hernia repairMethods: purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of local anaesthesia in inguinal hernia repair.prospective study was made from January 2011-0ctober 2013 , on a total of 50 patients with inguinal hernia operated on under local anaesthesia. Patients were selected primarily on the basis of their willingness to accept the procedure after the technique was described to them. Results: In this study 50 patient and 58 herniorrhaphies done for them during a period of about 34months were evaluated .A questionnaire was sent to each patient postoperatively to aid in evaluating the subjective reactionto the local anaesthesia. all patients were males ,age range between 31-83 year, median age 51 .types of inguinal hernia were sliding 1case ,pantaloon 5cases ,indirect 28cases ,direct 24 cases ,Rt. Side 27cases, Lt. side 15 cases ,bilateral hernia 8 cases .we give local anesthesia by 2 methodsConclusions: Local anesthesia is without question the safest available technique of anesthesia.Local anesthesia is an extension of the surgical procedure (indeed, often an integral part of that procedure), and as such its administration should be the concern of the surgeon

Behavior of Clay Masonry Prism under Vertical Load Using Detailed Micro Modeling Approach
...Show More Authors

The aim of this research is to assess the validity of Detailed Micro-Modeling (DMM) as a numerical model for masonry analysis. To achieve this aim, a set of load-displacement curves obtained based on both numerical simulation and experimental results of clay masonry prisms loaded by a vertical load. The finite element method was implemented in DMM for analysis of the experimental clay masonry prism. The finite element software ABAQUS with implicit solver was used to model and analyze the clay masonry prism subjected to a vertical load. The load-displacement relationship of numerical model was found in good agreement with those drawn from experimental results. Evidence shows that load-displacement curvefound from the finite element m

Effect of Embedment on Generated Bending Moment in Raft Foundation under Seismic Load
...Show More Authors

This research shows the experimental results of the bending moment in a flexible and rigid raft foundation rested on dense sandy soil with different embedded depth throughout 24 tests. A physical model of dimensions (200mm*200mm) and (320) mm in height was constructed with raft foundation of (10) mm thickness for flexible raft and (23) mm for rigid raft made of reinforced concrete. To imitate the seismic excitation shaking table skill was applied, the shaker was adjusted to three frequencies equal to (1Hz,2Hz, and 3Hz) and displacement magnitude of (13) mm, the foundation was located at four different embedment depths (0,0.25B = 50mm,0.5B = 100mm, and B = 200mm), where B is the raft width. Generally, the maximum bending

Post-Fire Behavior of Post-Tensioned Segmental Concrete Beams under Monotonic Static Loading
...Show More Authors

This paper presents a study to investigate the behavior of post-tensioned segmental concrete beams that exposed to high-temperature. The experimental program included fabricating and testing twelve simply supported beams that divided into three groups depending on the number of precasting concrete segments. All specimens were prepared with an identical length of 3150 mm and differed in the number of the incorporated segments of the beam (9, 7, or 5 segments). To simulate the genuine fire disasters, nine out of twelve beams were exposed to a high-temperature flame for one hour. Based on the standard fire curve (ASTM – E119), the temperatures of 300◦C (572◦F), 500◦C (932◦F), and 700◦C (1292◦F) were adopted. Consequently,

Bayesian Estimation for Two Parameters of Gamma Distribution under Generalized Weighted Loss Function
...Show More Authors

This paper deals with, Bayesian estimation of the parameters of Gamma distribution under Generalized Weighted loss function, based on Gamma and Exponential priors for the shape and scale parameters, respectively. Moment, Maximum likelihood estimators and Lindley’s approximation have been used effectively in Bayesian estimation. Based on Monte Carlo simulation method, those estimators are compared in terms of the mean squared errors (MSE’s).

Buckling Behavior of Aluminum Alloy Thin-Walled Beam with Holes under Compression Loading
...Show More Authors

Thin-walled members are increasingly used in structural applications, especially in light structures like in constructions and aircraft structures because of their high strength-to-weight ratio. Perforations are often made on these structures for reducing weight and to facilitate the services and maintenance works like in aircraft wing ribs. This type of structures suffers from buckling phenomena due to its dimensions, and this suffering increases with the presence of holes in it. This study investigated experimentally and numerically the buckling behavior of aluminum alloy 6061-O thin-walled lipped channel beam with specific holes subjected to compression load. A nonlinear finite elements analysis was used to obtain the
