Detection of Bacteriocin Production and Induction by Brassica rapa extract

  The present study aimed to try to find natural substances stimulate the production of bacteriocin, as well as "for detection of bacteriocin producing isolates. Two hundred and eighty ( 280)  bacterial isolates, gram negative only, were collected from 760 different pathogenic samples, consist: (Urinary tract infection, septicemia, Vaginal inflammation and diarrhea).  The isolated bacteria are: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella  pneumonia Pseudomonas  aeruginosa,, Salmonella typhi, Enterobacter cloacae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Serratia  liquefaciens, Citrobacter  freundii,  Proteus  mirabilis and Serrattia  odorifera.  Cup assay method was  used to detect bacteriocin production. Locally media prepared (  Nutriernt agar + Brassica rapa   roots extract ) to detect bacterial bacteriocin production, compared with ( N. agar ) only. The results showed, the percentage of bacteria production of  bacteriocin were (28.57%)/(80)  isolates only on  N. agar, while the ratio reached to (82.5%)/ (231) isolates by local media.Also this media gave (45 mm) in dimeter of inhibition zone in E. coli. Brassica rapa roots extract was used to stimulate bacteriocin production compared with mitomycin-c (Mt-c )  in five isolates of the E. coli. It was found the extract emulate Mt-, in dimeter of inhibition zone , protein concentration and activity. But it was better than Mt-c in some isolates.

One hundred and eighty five urine samples were collected eight isolates (4.3%) were obtained and diagnosed as Staphylococcus aureus. Among 8 isolates, 5 (62.5%) S. aureus isolates were found to be enterotoxigenic, most of isolates produced at least two types of Staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs). The production of enterotoxins in the presence or absence of Thymol extracts (aqueous and alcoholic) were estimated using a reversed passive latex agglutination (SET-RPLA) kit. Bacteriocin from Streptococcus salivarius optimized statistically by response surface methodology active against different clinical oral pathogenic Streptococci

The aim of the present work was to study the possibility of producing an effective bacteriocin from bacteria naturally exists in the mouth. Streptococcus salivarius KA101 was selected among 120 oral isolates collected from healthy people based on its ability to produce an effective bactericidal bacteriocin. Modified tryptic soy agar with 2% yeast extract and 0.1% calcium carbonate was the best medium for the production of bacteriocin with an activity of 40 AU/ml. Detection of Cellular and Molecular Toxicity of Aloe vera Gel Crude Extract on the Roots of the Allium cepa

    The cellular and molecular toxicity effect  of Aloe Vera crude extract on meristem cells of onion  (Allium cepa)  roots were studied  . Different concentrations of this crude extract   20% ,10% ,5%   ,2% ( and 40%) were used at different periods ; 24 ,48 and 72 hour . Production of Lactic Acid by lactobacilli using Legume Flours

       Due to their high nutritional value, richness in carbohydrates and good source of protein, legumes are considered essential for human diet. Legumes flours were used as fermentable material for lactic acid production. Hence, previously isolated lactobacilli strains were used in this study. The strains showed strong microbial growth and their survival in glucose-containing MRS medium and were described using a modified Gompertz equation.
