Comparison of Wavelet Transform Filters Using Image Compression

The wavelet transform has become a useful computational tool for a variety of signal and image processing applications.

The aim of this paper is to present the comparative study of various wavelet filters. Eleven different wavelet filters (Haar, Mallat, Symlets, Integer, Conflict, Daubechi 1, Daubechi 2, Daubechi 4, Daubechi 7, Daubechi 12 and Daubechi 20) are used to compress seven true color images of 256x256 as a samples. Image quality, parameters such as peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), normalized mean square error have been used to evaluate the performance of wavelet filters.

In our work PSNR is used as a measure of accuracy performance.

We use two values of compression factors (4.3 and 5.1) to test the wavelet filters [1].

The experimental shows different results but in general the Daubechi Family specialy Daubechi 4, Daubechi 7, Daubechi 12 and Daubechi 20 give better performance in term of PSNR. Matlab 9.0 is used to implement the experiments

Collapse Pattern in Gypseous Soil using Particle Image Velocimetry
Abstract
Gypseous soil is prevalent in arid and semi-arid areas, is from collapsible soil, which contains the mineral gypsum, and has variable properties, including moisture-induced volume changes and solubility. Construction on these soils necessitates meticulous assessment and unique designs due to the possibility of foundation damage from soil collapse. The stability and durability of structures situated on gypseous soils necessitate close collaboration with specialists and careful, methodical preparation. It had not been done to find the pattern of failure in the micromechanical behavior of gypseous sandy soil through particle image velocity (PIV) analysis. This adopted recently in geotech
... Satellite Image Classification using Spectral Signature and Deep Learning

When images are customized to identify changes that have occurred using techniques such as spectral signature, which can be used to extract features, they can be of great value. In this paper, it was proposed to use the spectral signature to extract information from satellite images and then classify them into four categories. Here it is based on a set of data from the Kaggle satellite imagery website that represents different categories such as clouds, deserts, water, and green areas. After preprocessing these images, the data is transformed into a spectral signature using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm. Then the data of each image is reduced by selecting the top 20 features and transforming them from a two-dimensiona

Comparison Sequences of Pick and Place System Controlled Using PLC

Pick and place system is one of the significant employments of modern robots utilized in industrial environments. The objective of this research is to make a comparison of time sequences by combining multiple axes of sequences. A pick-place system implemented with pneumatic linear double-acting cylinders to applicator in automated systems processes for manufacturing. The challenge of 3-axes movement control was achieved using the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) controller such that the merging between two or three axes was achieved according to the selected sequence of the program. The outcomes show the contrasted sequences and the reference in a constant velocity. The main variable parameter is the number of steps for each sequ

Wavelet Analysis For Sunspot Time Series

Abstract

In this research we study the wavelet characteristics for the important time series known as Sunspot, on the aim of verifying the periodogram that other researchers had reached by the spectral transform, and noticing the variation in the period length on one side and the shifting on another.

A continuous wavelet analysis is done for this series and the periodogram in it is marked primarily. for more accuracy, the series is partitioned to its the approximate and the details components to five levels, filtering these components by using fixed threshold on one time and independent threshold on another, finding the noise series which represents the difference between

Survey of Scale-invariant Feature Transform Algorithm

The effectiveness of detecting and matching of image features using multiple views of a specified scene using dynamic scene analysis is considered to be a critical first step for many applications in computer vision image processing. The Scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) can be applied very successfully of typical images captured by a digital camera.
In this paper, firstly the SIFT and its variants are systematically analyzed. Then, the performances are evaluated in many situations: change in rotation, change in blurs, change in scale and change in illumination. The outcome results show that each algorithm has its advantages when compared with other algorithms

Contrast Enhancement of the Mammographic Image Using Retinex with CLAHE methods

Recently digital mammography is most widely used technology for early detection of breast cancer. The main diagnosing elements such as lesion or masses in digital mammograms are with law contrast. The purpose of this paper is to enhance the mammogram images by increasing its contrast. Different enhancement method are used for this purpose such as histogram equalization (HE), Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE), Morphological, and Retinex. The Retinex method also implement by combining it with HE once, and with CLAHE to improve its performance. The experimental results show that using Retinex with CLAHE can produce an image with enhancement in contrast better than using it with HE method and better than other methods

Passport Photo Compression: A Review

The demand for electronic -passport photo ( frontal facial) images has grown rapidly. It now extends to Electronic Government (E-Gov) applications such as social benefits driver's license, e-passport, and e-visa . With the COVID 19 (coronavirus disease ), facial (formal) images are becoming more widely used and spreading quickly, and are being used to verify an individual's identity, but unfortunately that comes with insignificant details of constant background which leads to huge byte consumption that affects storage space and transmission, where the optimal solution that aims to curtail data size using compression techniques that based on exploiting image redundancy(s) efficiently.

Fractional Hartley Transform and its Inverse

The Hartley transform generalizes to the fractional Hartley transform (FRHT) which gives various uses in different fields of image encryption. Unfortunately, the available literature of fractional Hartley transform is unable to provide its inversion theorem. So accordingly original function cannot retrieve directly, which restrict its applications. The intension of this paper is to propose inversion theorem of fractional Hartley transform to overcome this drawback. Moreover, some properties of fractional Hartley transform are discussed in this paper.

Spectrum Analyzing X-ray Data Image (FITS) Using Ds9 Program

n this study, data or X-ray images Fixable Image Transport System (FITS) of objects were analyzed, where energy was collected from the body by several sensors; each sensor receives energy within a specific range, and when energy was collected from all sensors, the image was formed carrying information about that body. The images can be transferred and stored easily. The images were analyzed using the DS9 program to obtain a spectrum for each object,an energy corresponding to the photons collected per second. This study analyzed images for two types of objects (globular and open clusters). The results showed that the five open star clusters contain roughly t
