Abstract

Sotileza, called locally from Santander of subtlety, is the thinnest part of the fishing tackle from going the hook. It is the master work of José María de Pereda. Its atmosphere, the Santander old, former 50 year, evoked emotionally - romantic emotion  contained in the strokes sober and strong of a psychological naturalism and landscape, the Santander which the author confesses to own at the bottom of his heart, "and have it sculpted in memory in such a way that, with eyes closed, I would draw you with its perimeter and streets»«, and the colour of its stone, and the number, and the names, and up to the faces of its inhabitants ". Within the primary grandeur of the creatures of Pereda, Sotileza, the protagonist, with its enigmatic, with his strong features and female charm at the same time, with its dynamism and its goodness of the soul, without weaknesses, attracts and suggest.

Characters, the sailors, and especially the sea environment, with its storms and its calm sea for sailors, walked and galloped by fishing barges, sea constitute a powerful picture of customs, whose result is a spirited oceanic landscape, and whose spirit seems to incarnate, essentially, in the agile girl that gives its name to the novel.

Desulfurization of Diesel Fuel by Oxidation and Solvent Extraction
...Show More Authors

This research presents a study in ultra-desulfurization of diesel fuel produced from conventional hydro desulfurization process, using oxidation and solvent extraction techniques. Dibenzothiophene (DBT) was the organosulfur compound that had been detected in sulfur removal. The oxidation process used hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant and acetic acid as homogeneous catalyst . The solvent extraction process used acetonitrile (ACN) and N-methyl – 2 - pyrrolidone (NMP) as  extractants . Also the effect of five parameters (stirring speed :150 , 250 , 350 , and 450) rpm, temperature (30 , 40 , 45 , and 50) oC, oxidant/simulated diesel fuel ratio (0.5 , 0.75 , 1 , and 1.5) , catalyst/oxidant ratio(0.125,0.25,0.5

Density functional theory study of molecular structure, Electronic properties, UV–Vis spectra on coumarin102.
...Show More Authors

The various properties of the ground and excited electronic states of coumarins 102 using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) was calculated by the B3LYP density functional model with 6-31G(d,p) basis set by Gaussian 09 W program. Spectral characteristics of coumarin102 have been probed into by methods of experimental UV-visible, and quantum chemistry. The UV spectrum was measured in methanol. The optimized structures, total energies, electronic states (HOMO- LUMO), energy gap, ionization potentials, electron affinities, chemical potential, global hardness, softness, global electrophilictity, and dipole moment were measured. We find good agreement between experimental data of UV spectrum and

Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Piled Raft Foundation with Different Length of Piles Under Static Loads
...Show More Authors

In order to understand the effect of (length of pile / diameter of pile) ratio on the load carrying capacity and settlement reduction behavior of piled raft resting on loose sand, laboratory model tests were conducted on small-scale models. The parameters studied were the effect of pile length and the number of piles. The load settlement behavior obtained from the tests has been validated by using 3-D finite element in ABAQUS program, was adopted to understand the load carrying response of piled raft and settlement reduction. The results of experimental work show that the increase in (Lp/dp) ratio led to increase in load carrying capacity by piled raft from (19.75 to 29.35%), (14.18 to 28.87%) and (0 to 16.49%) , the maximum load carried

Comparative Study of Performance and Emission Characteristics between Spark Ignition Engine and Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Engine (HCCI)
...Show More Authors

Many researchers consider Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine mode as a promising alternative to combustion in Spark Ignition and Compression Ignition Engines. The HCCI engine runs on lean mixtures of fuel and air, and the combustion is produced from the fuel autoignition instead of ignited by a spark. This combustion mode was investigated in this paper. A variable compression ratio, spark ignition engine type TD110 was used in the experiments. The tested fuel was Iraqi conventional gasoline (ON=82).

The results showed that HCCI engine can run in very lean equivalence ratios. The brake specific fuel consumption was reduced about 28% compared with a spark ignition engine. The experimental tests showed that the em
