The estimation of recharge to ground water is the important basics to improve the use of ground water with other available resources, and to save ground water resource from depletion, especially when using large quantity of ground water during a long time such as for agricultural purposes. Al-Wand River Basin in Iraq suffers from water shortage of its requirement of Blajo–Al-Wand Project, and to cover this shortage, the ground water plays a good role to overcome this problem.      Five hundred nasal swabs were taken from normal medical staff and public in the city of Baghdad. Several identification parameters were used to recognize the bacterial isolates.  S. aureus isolations form nasal swabs were identified using morphology and VITECK 2 system. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was employed to determine PVL (Panton–Valentine leukocidin ) gene in S. aureus. The data showed no significant evidence on the relationship between PVL gene presence and gender and age of  the studied groups. There was no relation between the prevalence of PVL gene in the age groups  of  21-30 years (p=0.328) and 31-40 years (p=0.682).

This research investigates solid waste management in Al-Kut City. It included the collection of medical and general solid waste generated in five hospitals different in their specialization and capacity through one week, starting from 03/02/2012. Samples were  collected and analyzed periodically to find their generation rate, composition, and physical properties. Analysis results indicated that generation rate ranged between (1102 – 212) kg / bed / day, moisture content and density were (19.0 % - 197 kg/ m3) respectively for medical waste and (41%-255 kg/ m3) respectively for general waste. Biodiversity is one of the important biological factors in determining water quality and maintaining the
ecological balance. In this study, there are 223 species of phytoplankton were identified, and they are as
follows: 88 species of Bacillariophyta and were at 44%,70 species of Chlorophyta and they were at 29 %, 39
species of Cyanophyta and they were at 16 %, 12 species of Euglenozoa and they were at 4 %, four species of
Miozoa and they were at 3 %, and, Phylum Charophyta and Ochrophyta were only eight and two species,
