The present study conducted to study epipelic algae in the Tigris River within Baghdad city for one year from September 2011 to August 2012 due to the importance role of benthic algae in lotic ecosystems. Five sites have been chosen along the river. A total of 154 species of epipelic algae was recorded belongs to 45 genera, where Bacillariophyceae (Diatoms) was the dominant groups followed by Cyanophyceae and Chlorophyceae. The study involved 120 women, who were distributed into two groups of breast tumor patients (30 malignant and 30 benign) and a group of controls (60 women). The patients were referred to the Center for Early Detection of Breast Tumor at Al-Alwayia Hospital for Gynecology and Obstetrics (Baghdad) during the period June-December 2011. They were investigated for the frequency of ABO blood group phenotypes, menopausal status, oral contraceptive use, body mass index and family history of breast cancer or other cancers. Determination of vitamin B₆ (pyridoxine hydrochloride) was described using high performance liquid chromatographic method. The analysis was achieved by cosmos IL 5C₁₈-MS-II column (250 mm x 4.6 mm i. d., 5µm particle size) at room temperature. The mobile phase used was Acetonitrile, buffer solution (Citric acid, Na₂HPO₄ pH4) buffer solution in the ratio (70:30) (V: V). the flow rate was set to 1.25 mL.min^-1 and the retention time 1.82 min with UV-detection at 282 nm. Beer's law was obeyed over the concentration range 10-1250 µg.mL^-1. The method was accurate (relative error % less than 0.05%), precise (RSD better than ±1.05%), average recovery 100.

Copper (Cu) Zinc (Zn) and Magnesium (Mg) in serum, RBC, urine and dialyzate fluids were
studied in 39 patients, who have been undergoing chronic haemodialysis treatment. They were
divided in to polyuric , oliguric and anuric depending on their urinary output. Elevated serum and
RBC Mg was observed before dialysis, while decreased serum and RBC level was noticed except
serum Mg of polyuric patients. Before dialysis elevated serum and RBC Zn were observed. While
after dialysis these parameters were increased. Normal RBC Cu value before dialysis was observed.

evaluate the some biochemical parameters and endocrine hormones related to
the pubertal maturity and fertility status in cases with thalassemia. A sixty patients
[38 males and 22 females] with β - thalassemia major against 30 healthy subjects
[17 males and 13 females] were enrolle . The Blood levels of, Leptin, Vitamin D,
thyroid function test, parathyroid hormone, ghrelin, and sex hormones were

Two hundred staphylococcal isolates isolated from milk and white cheese samples, which were collected from local markets in Baghdad. The predominant species was Staphylococcus aureus 97 isolates (48.5%), followed by S.chromogenes 82 (41%) and 21 (10.5%) S.epidermidis isolates.
