The effect of silanized alumina nano -fillers addition on some physical and mechanical properties of heat cured polymethyl methacrylate denture base material

Background: Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is the most commonly used material in denture fabrication. The material is far from ideal in fulfilling the mechanical requirements. Midline fracture; poor thermal conductivity and water sorption, are common problem in this material. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of addition of surface treated Aluminum oxide nano fillers on some properties of heat cured (PMMA). Materials and methods: In addition to controlled group of heat cured PMMA the silanized (Al2O3) nanoparticles was added to PMMA powder by weight in three different percentages 1wt%, 2wt% and 3wt%, mixed by probe ultra-sonication machine. 200 specimens were constructed and divided into 5 groups according to the test (each group consist of 40 specimens) and each group was subdivided into 4 sub-groups. The tests conducted were thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, transverse strength, indentation hardness (shore D), surface roughness, water sorption and solubility. The results were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and Dunntt t-test. Results: A highly significant increase in transverse strength was observed with the addition of (Al2O3) nanoparticles to (PMMA) at the percentage of 1wt%, the value was 117.72 Mpa and significant increase at 2wt%; while a significant reduction occurred in transverse strength at the percentage of 3% the value was 90.110 Mpa. A significant increase in surface hardness and non significant differences in surface roughness were observed for all percentages. Conclusion: The addition of Al2O3 nanoparticles to acrylic resin improves the thermal properties and transverse strength of acrylic resin at the same time this addition decreases water sorption and solubility.

Polycyclicacetal was prepared by the reaction of PEG with 4-nitrobenzaldehyde. Cobalt was used for producing a polymer metal complex and solution casting was used to produce a polymer blend including nano chitosan. Effect of Holes Diameter and Speed of Die on the Performance of Machine and Feed Pellet Quality

The aim of this study to evaluate the effects of die holes diameter and speed of die on the performance of machine and feed pellet quality. Machine productivity (Kg.h-1), consumed power (kW), pellet durability (%) and pellet bulk density (g.cm-3) was studied. The study factors consisted of three diameter of die holes (3, 4, and 5 mm), and three speeds die (280, 300, and 320 rpm). In this research, the influence of the fermentation treatments and baking in Iraqi’s flour type (Ibaa 99, Al-rashed, Tamus, Abu-grabe) and Turkish flour type (Muaamel) on phytic acid was investigated. In whole wheat flour, the phytic acid was (1500, 1290, 1450, 1230, 1440 ( mg/ 100 g flour respectively, and the inorganic phosphorous was (29.18, 25.15, 23.89, 20.85, 22.83) mg/100 g flour respectively. The dough prepared from flour with a higher phytic acid content also contained higher amount of phytic acid. During fermentation, degradation of phytic acid occurred. The Energy Spectra and Heat Capacity of GaAs Gaussian Quantum Dot in an External Magnetic Field

In this paper, a theoretical study of the energy spectra and the heat capacity of one electron quantum dot with Gaussian Confinement in an external magnetic field are presented. Using the exact diagonalization technique, the Hamiltonian of the Gaussian Quantum Dot (GQD) including the electron spin is solved. All the elements in the energy matrix are found in closed form. The eigenenergies of the electron were displayed as a function of magnetic field, Gaussian confinement potential depth and quantum dot size. Explanations to the behavior of the quantum dot heat capacity curve, as a function of external applied magnetic field and temperature, are presented.

The effect of wastewater disposal on the water quality and phytoplankton in Erbil wastewater channel.

In this study, phytoplankton density, chlorophyll-a, and selected physico- chemical parameters were investigated in Erbil wastewater channel. The surveys were carried out monthly from May 2003 to April 2004. Samplings were established on three sites from headwaters to the mouth. The results showed that pH was in alkaline side of neutrality, with significant differences (P<0.05) between sites 1 and 3. TSS concentration decreased from site 1 toward site 2 (mean value, 80.15 to 25.79 mg.l-1).
