Clinicopathological analysis of 80 cases of oral lobular and non lobular capillary hemangioma (pyogenic granuloma): A Retrospective study
...Show More Authors

Background: Oral pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a clinicopathological entity that could develop due to the reaction to a variety of stimuli, such as low-grade local irritation, traumatic damage, and hormonal stimulation. There are two histopathological types of pyogenic granuloma; lobular type -capillary hemangioma (LCH) and non-lobular type; with PG,LCH has highly vascular, diffuse capillary growth while non- lobular variant mimicking granulation tissue with heavily inflammated stroma. The study aims were to review the clinical  and histopathological spectrum of an oral pyogenic granuloma from different intraoral sites in order to avoid diagnostic pitfalls associated with similar morphological lesions and to determine whether lobular and non-lobular histopathological subtypes being  distinct entities.

Materials and Methods: A retrospective review of eighty formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue blocks (40 cases each of males and females) were retrieved from the archives of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at the University of Baghdad, from 1979 to 2017. According to Mills  et al., criteria for lobular capillary hemangioma description, the diagnosis of each case was confirmed by the examination of Hematoxylin and Eosin stained sections by an expert pathologists.

Results:The present result revealed that patients with oral pyogenic granuloma were with age range from 12 to 59 years, with a mean of 30.57 years. Fourty nine cases (61.25%) out of eighty were of lobular pattern and 31 cases (38.7%) of non-lobular pattern type PG. The most common site of LCH was in the buccal mucosa, 12 cases (75%), while higher case numbers were observed in the 21-30 year age group. There were non-significant differences between lobular and non-lobular pattern prevalence regarding age groups and between other studied variables.

Conclusio: It has been proposed that LCH and non-LCH subtypes reflect distinct phases in the development of a single lesion, which exhibits variable degrees of proliferative, angiogenic, and inflammatory activities.

A Comparative Study of Various Intelligent Optimization Algorithms Based on Path Planning and Neural Controller for Mobile Robot
...Show More Authors

In this paper, a cognitive system based on a nonlinear neural controller and intelligent algorithm that will guide an autonomous mobile robot during continuous path-tracking and navigate over solid obstacles with avoidance was proposed. The goal of the proposed structure is to plan and track the reference path equation for the autonomous mobile robot in the mining environment to avoid the obstacles and reach to the target position by using intelligent optimization algorithms. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) Algorithms are used to finding the solutions of the mobile robot navigation problems in the mine by searching the optimal paths and finding the reference path equation of the optimal

Monitoring Land Cover Change Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques: a Case Study of Al-Dalmaj Marsh, Iraq
...Show More Authors

Al-Dalmaj marsh and the near surrounding area is a very promising area for energy resources, tourism, agricultural and industrial activities. Over the past century, the Al-Dalmaje marsh and near surroundings area endrous from a number of changes. The current study highlights the spatial and temporal changes detection in land cover for Al-Dalmaj marsh and near surroundings area using different analyses methods the supervised maximum likelihood classification method, the Normalized  Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Geographic Information Systems(GIS),  and Remote Sensing (RS). Techniques spectral indices were used in this study to determine the change of wetlands and drylands area and of other land classes, th

Soft tissue measurements of Iraqi individuals with Cl I and Cl III skeletal pattern: a comparative cephalometric study
...Show More Authors

This study was planned to compare some of the soft tissue measurements inindividuals with skeletal Cl I and Cl III, to find out the measurements which may beused as a clinical diagnostic aid to discriminate between both skeletal classes.Seventy three digital true lateral cephalometric radiographs of Iraqi adults weredivided according to the ANB angle into 38 skeletal Cl I and 35 Cl III. The soft tissuemeasurements were analyzed using AutoCAD (2007) software computer program.Descriptive statistics were used to describe the measurements, while independentsamples t-test was used to rule out gender differences and skeletal class differences.Gender differences were found significantly in skeletal Cl I for all linearmeasurements; while in

The Relationship between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Loyalty among Baghdad University Employees in light of Covid- 19 A Descriptive Analytical Study (University of Baghdad as a model)

The educational service industry is one of the most negatively affected industries by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Government agencies have taken many measures to slow its spread, and then restrict movement and gatherings and stop recreational activities. Furthermore, the repercussions of the curfew had a significant impact due to the interruption in actual attendance for students and employees, and the severity of the Covid-19 crisis and its (economic, social, security, humanitarian and behavioral) effects on all societies and work sectors is no secret to anyone. Iraq, like other countries, was also affected by the negative impact of Covid-19 pandemic in all fields of institutional work, especially public fields, and specifically t

An Evaluation of Olive Oil as a Separating Medium and Its Effect on Some Mechanical Properties of Processed Acrylic Resin Denture Base (A Comparative Study). Part Two
...Show More Authors

Background: During acrylic resin processing, the mold must be separated from the surface of the gypsum to prevent liquid resin from penetrating into the gypsum, and water from the gypsum seeping into the acrylic resin. For many years, tin foil was the most acceptable separating medium, and because it's difficult to apply, a tin-foil substitute is used. In this study, olive oil is used as an alternative to tin foil separating medium for first time, and evaluating its effect as a separating medium on some mechanical properties such as (indentation hardness and transverse strength) of acrylic resins denture base comparing it with those processed using tin-foil and tin foil substitute such as (cold mold seal) separating medium. A Cognitive Linguistic Study of the Satirical Language in Al-Hajjar's Caricatures
...Show More Authors

The present study is a qualitative study that aims to investigate the way the Iraqi caricaturist,Dheaa Al-Hajjar uses caricatures to produce a satirical meaning humorously.Producing satire while at the same maintaining humor requires a creative thinking on the part of the caricaturist. Thus, the study examines the production of humorous satire in terms of creativity. The analysis is done from the cognitive linguistic point of view using Arthur Koestler's theory of bisociation as presented in his book The Act of Creation in 1964. The main principle on which the theory is based is that humor is created via linking (or bisociating in Koestler's terms) two habitually incompatible trains of thought in order to come up with a novel me

Study of Charge Flow Coefficient Au Metal with a - NPD Molecule Dye
...Show More Authors

The coefficient of charge transfer at heterogeneous devices of Au metal with a well-known dyeis investigations using quantum model.Four different solvent are used to estimation the effective transition energy. The potential barrier at interface of Au and dye has been determined using effective transition energy and difference between the Fermi energy of Au metal and ionization energy of dye. A possible transfer mechanism cross the potential barrier dyeand coupling strength interaction between the electronic levels in systems of Au and is discussed.Differentdata of effective transition energy and potential barrier calculations suggest that solvent is more suitable to binds Au with dye.
