Evaluation of the effect of local exogenous application of osteopontin on wound healing in rats
...Show More Authors

Background: Wound healing is a complex dynamical interaction between various cell types, the extracellular matrix, cytokines, and growth factors. osteoponetin is a substance that acts as an anti-inflammatory. Aims of study: The study was designed to identify the role of local exogenous applications of osteopontin on wound healing (in cheek skin). Materials and methods: Thirty adult male albino rats weighting an average of (250-300gm) used in this study, incisional wounds were made in the skin of the cheek of rat and they were divided into the following groups: A-Control group: 15 rats treated with 1µ l of normal saline B-Experimental groups: 15 rats treated with topical application of 1µl osteopontin. The scarification of animals were done for the healing intervals (1, 5 and 10 days) Histological analysis and assessment of number of inflammatory cell, Thickness and contraction of incision were performed for both experimental and control groups for all healing periods. Results: Histological analysis revealed that osteopontin accelerate wound healing of cheek skin and there was highly significant difference among studied groups in periods 1,5,10 days. Regarding mean values of epithelial thickness, inflammatory cell count and contraction of wound area have reported a highest value different in 1, 5 and 10 days durations. Conclusion: It can be concluded that application of osteopontin shown efficacy in the healing of skin wounds induced in rats.

The effect of utilization of parsley (Petroselinum crispum) in local Iraqi geese diets on blood biochemistry
...Show More Authors

This experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding diets containing different levels of parsley on the blood biochemical characteristics of local Iraqi geese. A total of twenty-four local geese, one year old, were used in this experiment during the period from the beginning of October to the end of December. The birds were allocated for Four treatment groups consisted of six geese each. Treatment groups were as follows: Control diet (T1) (free from parsley), T2: Control diet + 80 g / d parsley, T3: Control diet + 160 g / d parsley; T4: Control diet + 240 g / d parsley. At the end of experiment, blood samples were obtained from all geese by venipuncture from brachial vein and blood plasma samples were prepared. Blood biochemical tr

Comparison of the Protective Effect of Dapagliflozin and Empagliflozin on Cisplatin-Induced Ovarian Toxicity in Female Rats
...Show More Authors

Background: Cisplatin (CDDP) is an effective chemotherapeutic agent whose gonadotoxicity can lead to premature ovarian insufficiency through oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis. Sodium–glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors exhibit cytoprotective effects, but their ovarian effects during chemotherapy remain poorly defined. Methods: Twenty-four female Wistar rats were randomized (n = 6/group) to Control (vehicle), Cisplatin (7 mg/kg, i.p., day 14), Cisplatin + dapagliflozin (DAPA; 0.9 mg/kg/day, p.o., days 1–14), or Cisplatin + empagliflozin (EMPA; 10 mg/kg/day, p.o., days 1–14). At 24 h post-cisplatin, serum estradiol (E2), progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) were measured

Effect of selenium nanoparticle on lipid profile in local Awassi male lambs
...Show More Authors

Background: This research describes the methodology used for the preparation of selenium nanoparticles from Pseudomonas aeruginosa and their administration to lambs for lipid profile checking, administration of selenium nanoparticles as a medication in lambs results in hypolipidemia. Aim: The study aimed to investigate the potential of selenium nanoparticles in improving lipid profiles in lambs. Methods: Healthy lambs (n=10) of similar age and weight were selected for the study. The animals were housed in individual pens with free access to water and a standard diet. The lambs were randomly divided into two groups: the control group (n=5) and the treatment group (n=5). The control group received a standard diet, while the treatme

Five levels of Zn-EDTA fertilizer and foliar application of boron were used to study the local rice response through studying of some vegetative and reproductive growth characters, by conducting two field experiments at Kanipanka Agricultural Research Station during the summer season of 2004 by using RCBD with three replications. Significant differences were found in studied characters, there were increase in the number of days from seeding to 50% flowering (94.330-96.233) days, from 50% flowering to physiological maturity (37.50-38.28) days, plant height (82.50-91.423) cm and LAI (5.441-7.525). Reproductive characters such as number of grains panicle-1 (74.11-85.88), number of panicles m-2 (321.00-426.083), biological yield (8166.166-11082

Hepatoprotective Effect of Echinops tenuisectus (Compositae) on CCl4 Induced Hepatic Damage in Rats
...Show More Authors

Flavonoids are known to play a vital role in the management of various liver disorders. They are a large family of compounds synthesized by plants; they belong to a group of natural substances with variable phenolic structures. In this study we aim to scan the types of flavonoids in a newly studied, wild Iraqi plant named Echinops tenuisectus of Compositae family. The medicinal importance of flavonoids on one hand, and the absence of any phytochemical investigation on tenuisectus species of Echinops genus on the other hand, acquired this study itÛ¥s importance. Three flavonoids were identified in the seed,s extract of this plant (Silymarin, Rutin, Quercetin ) by two chromatographic methods, first Thin laye

This work aimed to prepare and study the characteristic feature of lead nanoparticles (PbNPS) and follow its effects on some physiological aspects in rats.PbNPS was prepared by laser ablation of pure lead mass with a pulse of 500 and 100 mJ of energy. The results indicated that the wavelength was approximately 196 and the concentration was reported at 53,8967 mg / L. AFM, as the average diameter has been estimated at 69.93 nm. EFSEM shows the spherical shape of the particle. The experimental animals (rats) were divided into two groups, with seven rats for each one. The first group was a control and the second group was injected with 1 milliliter of PbNPS (53.8673 mg/l) per day for 45 days. Bioaccumulated lead ( in liver, spleen kidney and
