A new generation of cable grade poly(vinyl chloride) containing heavy metal free modifier
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Many additives are used to improve the performance of cables in terms of increasing their flame retardancy, thermal stability, thermal conductivity, and other characteristics. Unfortunately, most of these additives contain heavy metals. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to introduce a material representing a new generation of environmentally friendly heavy metal-free stabilizers for cable grade poly(vinyl chloride) that can compete with traditional materials in terms of performance and distinctive properties. This unique additive is Oxydtron, a synthetic silicate or simply nanocement. The tests performed are rheological properties represented by a capillary rheometry analysis, limiting oxygen index, and volume resistivity. The most significant improvement in Bagley correction measurements was 14.61%; 18.13%; and 27.20% more than poly(vinyl chloride) basic formulation when using 5wt.% Oxydtron at 160 °C, 170 °C, and 180 °C, respectively. Also, the mean increases in relaxation time were 3.200 times, 8.825 times, and 12.458 times more than poly(vinyl chloride) basic formulation with 1wt.%, 3wt.%, and 5wt.% of Oxydtron, respectively. Furthermore, the Oxydtron lowered the value of the accompanying thermal gradient of the L.O.I test, reducing the heat-affected zone. The best result was with the extrusion processing method due to the uniformity of the processing conditions. However, the thermal gradient analysis showed residual heat stress in the test samples after cutting the burning layer and re-testing the samples again; this causes them to burn faster. This situation requires caution for designs that are exposed to high temperatures without burning. The optimum improvement in volume resistivity value was 14.71% and 38.24% more than poly(vinyl chloride) basic formulation after adding 5wt.% and 7wt.% of Oxydtron, respectively.</p>

Antioxidant and free radical scavenging effects of Iraqi sumac ( Rhus coriaria L)
...Show More Authors

This study was carried out to evaluate the antioxidant activity of Iraqi sumac seeds (Rhus coriaria. L) (Anacardiaceae). Total phenolic compounds and flavoniods were determined in three different sumac seed extracts (SSE) (aqueous, ethanolic and methanolic extract). For extraction Antioxidant activity of SSE were evaluated by various antioxidant assays, including total antioxidant capacity, reducing power,by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging, nitric oxide scavenging, Hydroxyl radical scavenging, and metal ion chelating activities. These various antioxidant activities were compared with ascorbic acid as a standard antioxidant. The results showed that the three(SSE), contained large amounts of phenolic and flavonio

Curing of Maleimidyl Phenol-Formaldehyde Resins Via Esterification and Free Radical Polymerization
...Show More Authors

Three phenol-formaldehyde resins having pendant maleimides were prepared by poly condensation of N-(hydroxyphenyl) maleimides with formaldehyde under conditions similar to those in Novolac preparation. The prepared resins were modified by two methods, the first one includes esterification of phenolic hydroxyl groups in the prepared resins via their treatment with benzoyl, acryloyl, methacryloyl and cinnamoyl chlorides respectively in the presence of triethylamine, while the second modification includes free radical polymerization of vinylic bonds in the prepared resins to produce cross-linked thermally stable polymers.

Enhancement of security for free space optics based on reconfigurable chaotic technique
...Show More Authors

Free Space Optical (FSO) technology offers highly directional, high bandwidth communication channels. This technology can provide fiber-like data rate over short distances. In order to improve security associated with data transmission in FSO networks, a secure communication method based on chaotic technique is presented. In this paper, we have turned our focus on a specific class of piece wise linear one-dimensional chaotic maps. Simulation results indicate that this approach has the advantage of possessing excellent correlation property. In this paper we examine the security vulnerabilities of single FSO links and propose a solution to this problem by implementing the chaotic signal generator “reconfigurable tent map”. As synchronizat

Inelastic mean free path of swift electrons and stopping power in Ta2O5
...Show More Authors

Energy Loss Function (ELF) of 2 5 Ta O derived from optical limit
and extended to the total part of momentum and their energy
excitation region ELF plays an important function in calculating
energy loss of electron in materials. The parameter Inelastic Mean
Free Path (IMFP) is most important in quantitative surface sensitive
electron spectroscopies, defined as the average distance that an
electron with a given energy travels between successive inelastic
collisions. The stopping cross section and single differential crosssection
SDCS are also calculated and gives good agreement with
previous work.

Experimental comparison of two linear machines developed for the free piston engine
...Show More Authors

: In this study, a linear synchronous machine is compared with a linear transverse flux machine. Both machines have been designed and built with the intention of being used as the power take off in a free piston engine. As both topologies are cylindrical, it is not possible to construct either using just flat laminations and so alternative methods are described and demonstrated. Despite the difference in topology and specification, the machines are compared on a common base in terms of rated force and suitability for use as a generator. Experience gained during the manufacture of two prototypes is described.

Synthesized 2nd Generation Zeolite as an Acid-Catalyst for Esterification Reaction
...Show More Authors

MCM-48 zeolites have unique properties from the surfaces and structure point of view as it’s shown in the results ,and unique and very sensitive to be prepared, have been experimentally prepared and utilized as a second-generation/ acid - catalyst for esterification reactions of oleic acid as a model oil for a free fatty acid source with Ethanol. The characterization of the catalyst used in the reaction has been identified by various methods indicating the prepared MCM-48 is highly matching the profile of common commercial MCM-48 zeolite. The XRF results show domination of SiO2 on the chemical structure with 99.1% and  agreeable with the expected from MCM-48 for it's of silica-based, and the SEM results show the cubic c

Upscale Gray Image using Mixing Transform Generation based on Tensor Product
...Show More Authors

The increased size of grayscale images or upscale plays a central role in various fields such as medicine, satellite imagery, and photography. This paper presents a technique for improving upscaling gray images using a new mixing wavelet generation by tensor product. The proposed technique employs a multi-resolution analysis provided by a new mixing wavelet transform algorithm to decompose the input image into different frequency components. After processing, the low-resolution input image is effectively transformed into a higher-resolution representation by adding a zeroes matrix. Discrete wavelets transform (Daubechies wavelet Haar) as a 2D matrix is used but is mixed using tensor product with another wavelet matrix’s size. MATLAB R2021

Dynamic TWGH: Client-Server Optimization for Scalable Combinatorial Test Suite Generation
...Show More Authors

To ensure that a software/hardware product is of sufficient quality and functionality, it is essential to conduct thorough testing and evaluations of the numerous individual software components that make up the application. Many different approaches exist for testing software, including combinatorial testing and covering arrays. Because of the difficulty of dealing with difficulties like a two-way combinatorial explosion, this brings up yet another problem: time. Using client-server architectures, this research introduces a parallel implementation of the TWGH algorithm. Many studies have been conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of this technique. The findings of this experiment were used to determine the increase in speed and co
