Comparison of root canal transportation and centering after instrumentation through conservative and traditional access cavities using different file systems
...Show More Authors
Introduction:

While conservative access preparations could increase fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth, it may influence the shape of the prepared root canal. The aim of this study was to compare the prepared canal transportation and centering ability after continuous rotation or reciprocation instrumentation in teeth accessed through traditional or conservative endodontic cavities by using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials and Methods:

Forty extracted intact, matured, and 2-rooted human maxillary first premolars were selected for this study. Teeth were equally divided into two groups according to the access cavity design (traditional or conservative). Each group (n = 20) was further subdivided according to instrumentation technique (n = 10) into rotary 2 shape and reciprocation R-motion file subgroups. The teeth were scanned pre and post instrumentation using Planmeca ProMax to obtain two CBCT images for each sample. Images were analyzed and root canal transportation and centering ability were calculated for both buccal and palatal roots at three levels from their apices (3, 5 to 7 mm).

Results:

Although conservative access cavities showed more canal transportation and less centering ability than the traditional one, there was no statistically significant difference (P > 0.05) between them at all levels. Furthermore, no statistically significant difference has been identified in the same parameter between the two instrumentation techniques (continuous rotation and reciprocation) (P > 0.05). However, longer instrumentation time was measured in the conservative group compared to traditional.

Conclusion:

The size of endodontic access cavity has no effect on root canal transportation and centering ability when instrumentation was performed using 2 shape and R-motion file systems.

Crack Growth Behavior through Wall Pipes under Impact Load and Hygrothremal Environment
...Show More Authors

This research concerns study the crack growth in the wall of pipes made of low carbon steel under the impact load and using the effect of hygrothermal (rate of moisture 50% and 50℃ temperature). The environmental conditions were controlled using high accuracy digital control with sensors. The pipe have a crack already. The test was performed and on two type of specimens, one have length of 100cm and other have length 50cm. The results were, when the humidity was applied to the pipe, the crack would enhance to growth (i.e. the number of cycles needed to growth the crack will reduce). In addition, when the temperature was increase the number of cycles needed to growth the crack are reduced because the effect of heat on the mechanical pro

A greenway for sustainable transportation of the university campus: Diyala University as a case study
...Show More Authors

Transportation is one of the aspects that enable us to achieve sustainability on a university campus, by taking environmental, social, and economic requirements. Walking is a green mode that can be essential to promoting sustainable transport. This study aims to evaluate the ability of campus physical development planning at Diyala University in creating sustainable transport on campus by determining the problems that exist. The research problem was identified in the absence of a comprehensive view of the importance of greenway network connectivity in the sustainability of the campus and the most important barriers that prevent it from being achieved and the incentives to be activated. The methodology used in this study was the quantitative

Removal of Nickel and Cadmium Ions from Wastewater by Sorptive Flotation: Single and Binary systems
...Show More Authors

The removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater by sorptive flotation using Amberlite IR120 as a resin, and flotation column, was investigated. A combined two-stage process is proposed as an alternative of the heavy metals removal from aqueous solutions. The first stage is the sorption of heavy metals onto Amberlite IR120 followed by dispersed-air flotation. The sorption of metal ions on the resin, depending on contact time, pH, resin dosage, and initial metal concentration was studied in batch method .Various parameters such as pH, air flow rate, and surfactant concentration were investigated in the flotation stage. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and Hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (HTAB) were used as anionic and cationic surfactant re

Surface Morphology and Elemental Analysis of Al2O3 Thin Films Prepared by DC Reactive Sputtering Technique Using Different Gas Mixtures
...Show More Authors

In this study, Al2O3 thin films were prepared by dc reactive sputtering technique using different gas mixtures of argon and oxygen gases (90:10, 70:30, 50:50, 30:70, and 10:90). These films were characterized to introduce their surface morphology and elemental composition as functions of the oxygen content in the gas mixture. The gas mixing ratio plays a crucial role in controlling the nanoscale morphology of the prepared thin films. The [Al]/[O] ratio varies non-linearly with the Ar:O2 mixing ratio. Increasing the oxygen content leads to a progressive decrease in surface roughness, resulting in smoother and more uniform films with finer granular features. These results presented herein are useful to optimize the sputtering process to ac

Effective quality control of a municipal wastewater treatment plant using Geographic information systems: A Review
...Show More Authors

Inefficient wastewater disposal and wastewater discharge problems in water bodies have led to increasing pollution in water bodies.  Pollutants in the river contribute to increasing the biological oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (SS), total dissolved solids (TDS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and toxic metals render this water unsuitable for consumption and even pose a significant risk to human health. Over the last few years, water conservation has been the subject of growing awareness and concern throughout the world, so this research focused on review studies of researches that studied the importance of water quality of wastewater treated disposal in water bodies and modern technology to management w
