Short Term Outcome Of Macrosomic Neonates Of Diabetic & Non-Diabetic Mothers
...Show More Authors

Background: Big birth weight is one of the important factors affecting the perinatal morbidity & mortality. It may result in an irreversible squeal because of birth trauma & fetal asphyxia.
Patients & Methods:
This is a prospective study of 50 singleton macrosomic newborns weighting 4000 g & more aged 1-3 days admitted in the neonatal care unit of Children Welfare Teaching Hospital & Baghdad Teaching Hospital during a 6 months period from 1st of March to 1st of September 2010. The maternal & neonatal records were reviewed & infant morbidities including hypoglycemia, respiratory distress, feeding intolerance, birth injury & associated anomalies were discussed. All the infants were followed until they were discharged from the hospital. Objectives: to compare the short term outcomes of macrosomic infants born to diabetic and non-diabetic mothers.

Results: Infants of diabetic mothers (52%) were more likely to develop neonatal morbidity compared to infants of non diabetic mothers (48%), these include hypoglycemia (76.9% vs. 8.3%), Respiratory distress (61.5% vs. 37.5%), and birth injury (7.7% vs. 4.2%) & nearly equal incidence of feeding intolerance (11.5% vs. 12.5%). Associated anomalies especially congenital heart disease (10%) found in infant of diabetic mothers only.

Conclusions: Most of birth weight variation remains unexplained & most non-IDM macrosomic infants do not have identifiable risk factors. Macrosomia is generally associated with neonatal morbidity & neonatal injury. The potential dangers of birth injury in vaginal delivery have increased the rates of cesarean section to (68%). Infants of diabetic mothers have a higher rate of neonatal morbidity overall including hypoglycemia, respiratory distress, birth injury & congenital heart disease.

GENERATION OF MPSK SIGNAL USING LOGIC CIRCUITS
...Show More Authors

The traditional technique of generating MPSK signals is basically to use IQ modulator that involves analog processing like multiplication and addition where inaccuracies may exist and would lead to imbalance problems that affects the output modulated signal and hence the overall performance of the system. In this paper, a simple method is presented for generating the MPSK using logic circuits that basically generated M-carrier signals each carrier of different equally spaced phase shift. Then these carriers are time multiplexed, according to the data symbols, into the output modulated signal.

Measurement of Classroom Flexibility for Kindergarten Childre
...Show More Authors

The current research aims to identify measure classroom flexibility for kindergartens children, identify the correlation between the classroom flexibility of kindergartens children and the gender of the child, and identify the correlation between the classroom flexibility of kindergartens children and their classroom. The current research sample consisted of (200) boys and girls selected randomly from the governmental Riyadh affiliated with the six directorates of education of Baghdad on both sides (al-karkh - al-rasafa). in order to achieve the objectives of the current research, this required including two tools, one is the scale of classroom flexibility for the kindergartens' children, which was constructed by the researcher based on

This thesis study (pen weight and diversity of Arabic calligraphy), including the Arabic script went through multiple bodies, it came through the natural evolution of societies, and helped in the renovation and development of calligraphy after they gained a clear identity as a result of development that has occurred in the materials and writing instruments, especially industry pen that led to the diversity of Arabic calligraphy, and through the exploratory research and modeling study, which was obtained that the researcher could pose a problem discussed in the first chapter of his study follows by asking: is the pen is the weight of the role in the diversity of Arabic calligrap

A trial Of Immunisation Against Cutaneous Leishmaniasis
...Show More Authors

Background: Cutaneous leishmaniasis is an endemic protozoal disease in Iraq. Recovery from the disease confers a solid and permanent immunity. Vaccination with a living inoculum of promastigotes isolated from culture reduce the incidence of disease.
Objective: To show the efficacy of different types of antigens for protection of Balb/c mice against cutaneous leishmaniasis.
Methods: Thirty Balb Ic mice were divided in to six groups, groups 1-4 were immunized with different types of antigens (heat killed, freezing-thawing, formalin fixed and ultrasonicated). Received June 2005 Group 5 was treated with freshly harvested viable promastigotes from liquid medium as positive Accepted Nov. 2005 control and group 6 was kept as negative con

On Training Of Feed Forward Neural Networks
...Show More Authors

In this paper we describe several different training algorithms for feed forward neural networks(FFNN). In all of these algorithms we use the gradient of the performance function, energy function, to determine how to adjust the weights such that the performance function is minimized, where the back propagation algorithm has been used to increase the speed of training. The above algorithms have a variety of different computation and thus different type of form of search direction and storage requirements, however non of the above algorithms has a global properties which suited to all problems.

Thermoelectric Power of Amorphous InAs Thin Films
...Show More Authors

The thermoelectric power (S) of thermal evaporated a-InAs films

were measured in the temperature rang (303-408) K.

These films were prepared at different thickness (250,350,450) nm and treated at different annealing temperatures (303,373,423,473,523) K.

The behaviour  of the thermoelectric power  studies of these films

as  a  function  of  thickness  and  annealing  temperature  showed  the thermoelectric  power an increasing trend with annealing temperature

,whereas it decreases as the film thickness increases.

Thyroid Disorders and the Level of Malondialdehyde
...Show More Authors

Background: Free radicals have been implicated in many pathological processes, including ischemia, inflammation, and malignancy. The free radicals may affect tissues damage by lipid
peroxidation which generate malondialdehyde (MDA) as a by byproduct of the reaction. The objective of this study is to examine the dynamics of lipid peroxidation in patients with
thyroid disorders using the measurement of malondialdehyde level as a marker for the degree of thyroid disorder.
Methods: Two hundred and forty five subjects were enrolled in this study. Hundred and ninety five were patients with different thyroid disorders (88 yperthyroidism, 63 hypothyroidism and 44 thyroid carcinoma) the remaining 50 subjects were

HLA ANTIGENS OF ARAB CHRISTIANS IN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

BACKGROUND: Iraq had more than twenty-four millions inhabitants of populations. This nation is one of the most populated countries in the world. It is difficult to define Iraqi populations genetically (HLA polymorphism) because they are structured of a mixture of many groups. HLA phenotype frequencies that encoded by many closely linked genes that are responsible for a variety of cell surface alloantigen proteins that are responsible for differences in different ethnic groups. Arab Christians in Iraq, accounting for more than three millions inhabitant mostly the northwest and other parts of Iraq. This raised the need for a preliminary study of the HLA trend in this population. Aim of study:
1- Estimating the gene frequency of HLA clas
