Blood lipid profile study in patients with acute stroke

Background: The accumulation of the lipid in the vascular smooth muscle cell within the arterial intima is a key process of the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a degenerative disease of blood vessels leading to stroke.
Materials & Methods. One hundred and ten patients with acute stroke were included in this study 88 patients with ischaemic or infarction stroke and 22 patients with hemorrhagic type ) as well as thirty apparently normal healthy subjects as controls.
Results.Triglycerides levels and AI only were statistically significant in ischaemic type of stroke (P<0.005) while other lipid fractions were similar to the control values.
Conclusion: Acute stroke patients (infarction type) had significantly elevated TG and low Al. While those with hemorrhagic type had more or less similar lipid profile to normal control. In general the higher the TG level the poorer the outcome in patients with acute stroke.

Analysing formal transformations in sustainable urban structures in Kufa City, Iraq

The research discusses the formal transformation in urban structure, all the cities around the world have undergone a series of formal transformations, resulting in radical transformations to their functions. And to calculate this transformation the descriptive analytical method was applied to this research. First, local urban management data and Landsat-9 visual data were used after processing by GIS. Then, the data were processed mathematically based on their engineering sequences. The aims of this research were as follows: to explore the formal transformations in cities, their dimensions and their consequences and impacts; to identify the underlying causes of their occurrence by deriving realistic results from trends in such degrees of t

The role of the court in invoking danger in criminal proceedings

The study of criminal danger is a part of a common phenomenon in criminal studies, namely, the conflict between traditional legal concepts and the new requirements of modern criminal policy, and the primacy of development and response to the requirements of modern human life. Criminal law scholars have recognized the importance of danger, especially after they have determined that the danger of crime is not limited to material damage, but rather to aggression against fundamental interests of the group, which is the possibility of damage. In particular, development and progress have led to the emergence of new areas in which the danger is the basis of the criminalization of related acts such as security, economy, trade, modern industries,

Transitional justice in light of the change in the Arab region

Many changes took place in a number of Arab countries, most of which ended with the change of the ruling leadership and a new coming. The same change brought about the hopes of the people to turn the page of the past into a democracy through which to overcome the grievances of previous years and achieve justice in all its aspects. The same new grievances have been added to that precedent and justice has not yet been achieved. Here we try to address the justice that is applied in the stages of change or transitional stages, which have been called, ie transitional justice, which has mechanisms and conditions of different application between countries, each of which the conditions applied in them and through a review of these mechanisms bet

Measurements of radon gas concentration in surface soil in Baghdad city

In the present work, radon gas concentrations in different surface soil samples in Baghdad governorate were measured using RAD-7 detector. The results have been shown that, the Radon gas concentrations ranged between (41.67±1.78Bq/m3), to (185.67±4.22Bq/m3), a map showing the distribution of the concentration of radon in selected areas was defined to identify areas with high pollution level. The reason for the high concentration of radon is that these surface soil samples are taken from agricultural areas. It is also known that fertilizers contain uranium levels as well as areas bombed in wars in the country. It is worth noting that all radon concentrations in Baghdad governorate are below the recommended minimum of 200-300Bq/m3) (Inte

A study has been conducted on (30) female of Swiss albino mice, to find out the effect of manganese chloride in histopathological changes of ovaries. The study includes, giving the manganese chloride with concentrations (150, 200 and 250 mg/kg) for (15, 30 and 45 day) for each concentration. The

from equipped medical centers. Therefore, there is a need
for anon- invasive, cost- effective, reliable, easily
available and fast method of diagnosis of this dngerous
disease.
Objective: The aim was to compare the validity and
predictive values of the recombinant K39 antigen (rK39)
test with that of the indirect fluorescent antibody test
(IFAT) test (the usual laboratory method) in the detection
of visceral leishmaniasis.
Methods: A Cross-sectional study was done in ALMansour Pediatric Hospital (in AL-Rusafa), and Central

The origin of bacterial contamination in AL-Habania reservoir in Iraq

Bacterial contamination of AL-Habania reservoir was studied during the period from February 2005 to January 2006; samples were collected from four stations (AL-Warrar, AL-Theban regulator, middle of the reservoir and the fourth was towards AL-Razzaza reservoir). Coliform bacteria, faecal Coliforms, Streptococci, and faecal Streptococci were used as parameters of bacterial contamination in waters through calculating the most probable number. Highest count of Coliform bacteria (1500 cell/100ml) was recorded at AL-Razaza during August, and the lowest count was less than (300 cell/100ml) in the rest of the collection stations for all months. Fecal Coliform bacteria ranged between less than 300 cells/100ml in all stations for all months to 700 c
