Background:
Angiogenic potential m most tumors; characterized by VEGF and vascular bed density around tumor islands, is believed to be an important marker in predicting tumor growth,
recurrence and metastasis.
Materials and Methods:
The study included 50 cases of ameloblastomas. From each case 4 μm sections were stained IHC with antivascular endothelial growth factor antibody- and endothelial lined
vessels anti CD34 antibody to evaluate their expression and intensity in relation to their Fac Med Baghdad clinicopathological features.
Results:
Generally, VEGF was significantly highly expressed with strong intensity in outer cell layer of tumor islands, and the newly formed blood vessels were significantly
predominantly rounded and small in size in comparison to dental folicale and papilla of tooth germ. Young aged patients (≤ 20yrs) had highest mean MvD around tumor islands
(35.9). Regarding WHO classification; follicular, plexiform and lining cells in UAB had higher expression then acanthomatous and types, but 67% of those in plexiform were of
moderate intensity. There was no significant differences in mean MvD in all histological solid subtypes, and characterized by round and small vessels. Except those in plexiform,
they were elongated and medium. UAB had significant lower microvessel count around lining tumor cells (but not around mural growth) and more percentage of elongated medium
sized vessels than follicular but less than plexiform. There was significant correlation between VEGF expression and the shape of microvessels. Considering different
morphological cellular pattern, basal cells showed the highest VEGF positivity and intensity (87.5).
Conclusions:
The present study indicate the usefulness of the VEGF expression and MvD in explaining the aggressive, locally invasive biological behavior of ameloblastoma. The high
angiogenic potential is enhancing tumor cell survival and the increase in the production of new blood vessels formation is facilitating tumor growth, and by time will enhance the
proliferation potential of the incompletely removed surviving tumor islands, so increasing the chance of ameloblastoma recurrence.
Background: Wilms’ tumor 1 is a tumor suppressor gene. The gene is located in chromosome 11p13. And its expression was found in many solid tumors (including ovarian tumor) and also expressed in hematologic malignancies, Recent studies found that WT1 to be involved in angiogenesis.
Objectives: To evaluate the expression of WT1 in surface epithelial ovarian tumorand study the possibility of using WT1 as replacement of both;ovarian tumor marker CA125 and a endothelial cell phenotypic marker CD34.
Patients and methods: This is a study of a retrospective ( cross sectional ) of sixty cases with total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo - oopherectomy collected from department of Histopathology – Teaching Laboratories / Medi
Introduction: With the advent of era of targeted cancer therapy, the serious side effects of chemoradiotherapy have been minimised. Considering the success story of anti-HER2/neu drugs in breast cancer oncology, the present study was conducted. The study evaluates the immunohistochemical expression of HER2/neu in endometrioid cancer among Iraqi patients. Aim: To assess the immunohistochemical expression of HER2/neu in endometrioid carcinoma of uterus and to find the relationship of this expression with FIGO stage and grade and with patient age. Materials and Methods: In this cross sectional study, formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue blocks of 62 hysterectomy specimens that were diagnosed as endometrioid carcinoma in the teaching labora

Objectives: To find a correlation between the type of the lesions that were grossly identified and their corresponding microscopical grades and Studying the effect of remodeling on preservation of the luminal area, 3) demonstrate the endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerosis.
Methods: fifty cases were gathered from the Medico-legal institute in Baghdad during the period from January to July 2004.The left anterior descending (LAD), left circumflex (LCX) and right coronary artery (RCA) from 50 postmortem cases were biopsied.

In the last 30 years, the 5-year survival rate of patients with oral SCC has not improved despite advance in diagnostic techniques. To improve early diagnosis for this deadly disease, new biological markers are needed. HOX genes encode homeodomain-containing transcription factors involved in the regulation of cellular proliferation and differentiation during embryogenesis. HOX gene expression has been described in several adult tissues, where they performed important roles in maintaining homeostasis. Few studies have suggested that HOXA1 plays a role in tumorigenesis. Besides bein

Angiotensin‐converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) which functions as a receptor for SARS‐CoV‐2 was reported in the epithelial surfaces of the oral and nasal cavities; however, a complete understanding of the expression patterns in deep oral and maxillofacial tissues is still lacking.
The immunohistochemical expression of ACE2 was analyzed in 95 specimens from maxillofacial tissues and 10 specimens o
Background: several factors render chronic lymphocytic leukemia an interesting subject for study by researchers. These include marked progress in understanding the molecular biology of normal and neoplastic lymphoid cells and recent advances in molecular genetics techniques. Among molecular markers, p-53 cancer suppressor gene has been widely studied.
Objectives: is to correlate p-53 protein expression in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, as examined by immunohistochemical method, with some pathological and clinical parameters.
Patients and methods: this is a retrospective study; whereby archival paraffin-embedded bone marrow tissue blocks along with the clinical and hematological records of fifty patients (35 males and 15 females), wi
Fumonisin B1 is toxic secondary metabolites compound produced by Fusarium spp. on maize and maize products causes health problems to human and animal. Therefore, this research is planned to study the effect of FB1 on the expression of TLR-2 & 4 in liver and kidney cells of mice. Four group of male mice were orally administrated with single dose of FB1 toxin as the following: 0 ppb, 800 ppb, 1200 ppb and 1600 ppb. After two weeks all animals were sacrificed, liver and kidney autopsies were taken and the level of TLR-2 & 4 detected in each four group by immunohistochemistry technique (IHC). According to the IHC examination of groups (1, 2, 3 and 4) strong expression of TLR2 in liver and kidney were (0%, 33.3%, 100%, 100%), respectively. This
