Background: Techniques of Inguinal hernia repair have seen an evolution from the pure tissue repair to the prosthetic repair and in the recent years past to laparoscopic repair. High recurrence rates using fascia for the hernia repair or the use of sutures under tension prompted the development of polypropylene mesh to reinforce the posterior wall of the inguinal canal. The aim of this study is to compare the post operative results of Lichtenstein mesh technique with Dar ning repair.
Patients and methods:-A prospective study of "100" patients with inguinal hernia were conducted to evaluate two methods, of open repair of inguinal hernia Lichtenstein mesh technique with Traditional non-mesh technique (modified Bassini or Darning).Operation were done under general, epidural and local anaesthesia at the surgical units of Baghdad Teaching Hospital and Arbil Teaching Hospital.
Results: The study showed that Lichtenstein mesh technique is an effective operation for repair of inguinal hernia with low complication rate and less pain in comparison to the repair by traditional non-mesh technique. Also the results show that, mesh repair group returned to work earlier than non-mesh repair group.
Conclusion:Mesh repair of primary inguinal hernia repair is superior to non-mesh repair in term of early postoperative pain , return to the work and recurrence.
In this paper, an analytical solution describing the deflection of a cracked beam repaired with piezoelectric patch is introduced. The solution is derived using perturbation method. A novel analytical model to calculate the proper dimensions of piezoelectric patches used to repair cracked beams is also introduced. This model shows that the thickness of the piezoelectric patch depends mainly on the thickness of the cracked beam, the electro-mechanical properties of the patch material, the applied load and the crack location. Furthermore, the model shows that the length of the piezoelectric patches depends on the thickness of the patch as well as it depends on the length of the cracked beam and the crack depth. The additio

Generally, from 80% to 90% of structure failure is due to initiation of the cracks. Therefore, it is necessary to repair the crack and reduce its effect on the structure where the effect of the crack is modelled as an additional flexibility to the structure. In the last few years, piezoelectric materials have been considered as one of the most favourable repairing techniques. The piezoelectric material converts the applied voltage on it to a bending moment to counter the bending moment caused by the external load on the beam at the crack location. In this study, the design of the piez

DNA glycosylase (OGG1) gene which responsible on DNA repairs. DNA repair play a major role in maintaining
genomic stability when DNA exposure to damage. Genomic stability is very important for keeping body cells
healthy and to prevent many types of tumor development. Many genes are responsible for this job; one of them is
OGG1 gene.
Methodology: In current study two groups of mice were chronically exposed to sodium nitrite for six months and
eighteen months while third group was used as a control. Then sizes of OGG1 were estimated.
Results: The results exhibited in the unexposed (control) mice had two dif
Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction from images is a most beneficial method of object regeneration by using a photo-realistic way that can be used in many fields. For industrial fields, it can be used to visualize the cracks within alloys or walls. In medical fields, it has been used as 3D scanner to reconstruct some human organs such as internal nose for plastic surgery or to reconstruct ear canal for fabricating a hearing aid device, and others. These applications need high accuracy details and measurement that represent the main issue which should be taken in consideration, also the other issues are cost, movability, and ease of use which should be taken into consideration. This work has presented an approach for design and construc

Studies suggested that the repair strength may be improved by several means including surface treatment with chemical agents. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of surface treatment with acrybond-bonding agent and monomer on fractured denture base in respect to transverse, tensile and shear bond strength and evaluation of the mode of failure by light microscope. Materials and methods: Two hundred seventy specimens were prepared and divided into 3 groups according to the material used (regular conventional, rapid simplified and high impact) heat cure acrylic. The specimen in each groups were prepared specificall

Objective: One of the most important practical deficiencies of present denture base materials is fracture, therefore many
attempts have been made to reinforce of the repaired denture base resin. A desirable objective for this service is to obtain
optimum strength for repairs, which can be achieved by making available a good bond between original and repaired
materials.
Methodology: The present study was carried out to evaluate and compare the transverse strength of acrylic specimens
repaired by two different materials (hot-cure and cold-cure acrylic resin). A total of 50 specimens were prepared by hot

A novel demountable shear connector for precast steel-concrete composite bridges is presented. The connector uses high-strength steel bolts, which are fastened to the top flange of the steel beam with the aid of a special locking nut configuration that prevents bolts from slipping within their holes. Moreover, the connector promotes accelerated construction and overcomes the typical construction tolerance issues of precast structures. Most importantly, the connector allows bridge disassembly. Therefore, it can address different bridge deterioration scenarios with minimum disturbance to traffic flow including the following: (1) precast deck panels can be rapidly uplifted and replaced; (2) connectors can be rapidly removed and replaced; and (

Aim:- to show that not all survival curves without shoulder are not able to repair or have lost the ability for the accumulation of sublethal damage.
Background:- the shoulder of the survival curve is considered as a
region of accumulation of sublethal damage also as an indicator for cell capacity to repair. The size can be influenced by the change ofthe slope of the linear portion of the survival curve.
Results:- we have shown that a survival curve with shoulder size of
1.5 Gy can be a straight line when the slope of the exponential part is changed so the
