Impact of Health Educational Program Upon Nurses' Knowledge Towards Postoperative Wounds Care In Mosul Teaching Hospitals
...Show More Authors

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the needs of nurses' knowledge toward post operative wound care and to constructed health educational program upon nurses who are working in surgical wards, to determine the relation between nurses' knowledge and their demographical characteristic which includes ( age, gender, level of education, number of years experience in the surgical wards, years of experience in nursing service, and number of attending an educational sessions), and to identify the impact of the health educational program on their knowledge through perform post-test every two months after implementation of the program for six months consequences. Methods: A quasi- experimental study was conducted in Al-Jamhuree Teaching Hospital and Al- Salam Teaching Hospital in Nineveh governorate during the period from 10th September 2013 up to 10th March 2014. To fill full the objective of the study a purposive sample (non probability) consists of (60) nurses, the sample divided into tow equal groups (study and control groups), the study group are exposed to the educational program. The knowledge questionnaire test was conducted to measure the impact of the program, which consists of (63) multiple choice questions regarded to post operative wound care. Data were collected through the use knowledge questionnaire test which is related to nurses' knowledge test, which were developed to achieve the purpose of the study. Reliability of the instrument was determined through the use of test- retest approach. While the Instrument validity was determined through content validity, by a panel of experts. Results: The results that the nursing in the study group are benefited from the implementation of the health education program and it was a great effect on developing and improved their knowledge regarded all parts of knowledge tests related to post operative wound care. Recommendations: Based on the results of the current study the researcher recommended the followings: Based on analysis of the results, It is necessary to develop a continuous, periodic in-service educational and training programs should be utilize for all surgical nursing especially for newly jointed nurses to enhance their ability in dealing with surgical wound in order to improve the quality of care, and Benefit from the present program by coping it in a form of a manual to be distributions for using it.

Kinetic- spectrophotometric Method for the Determination of Naringenin in Pure and Supplements Formulations
...Show More Authors

Simple, cheap, sensitive, and accurate kinetic- spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of naringenin in pure and supplements formulations. The method is based on the formation of Prussian blue. The product dye exhibits a maximum absorbance at 707 nm. The calibration graph of naringenin was linear over the range 0.3 to 10 µg ml-1 for the fixed time method (at 15 min) with a correlation coefficient (r) and percentage linearity (r2%) were of 0.9995 and 99.90 %, respectively, while the limit of detection LOD was 0.041 µg ml-1. The method was successfully applied for the determination of naringenin in supplements with satisfac

Arlyesterase activity of Paraoxonase-1 enzyme in Iraqi patients with β-thalassemia minor
...Show More Authors

Background: Arylesterase activity of Paraoxonase-1 (ARE-PON-1) exhibits an antioxidant role which protects lipoprotein from oxidation. It is known that ARE-PON-1 antioxidant activity associated with high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) reduces the oxidative damage mediated by low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). The present study was aimed to examine the level of serum ARE-PON1 in Iraqi patients with β-thalassemia minor and its relationship with lipid profile (total cholesterol (TC), HDL-C, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL-C), and LDL-C) and hematologic changes as a part of antioxidant system action. Methods: In the present study, the ARE-PON-1 activity was investigated in serum of patients with β-thalassemia minor. Resu

Identification of Pathogenic Fungi in Renal Transplant Patients by Conventional and Molecular Methods
...Show More Authors

Opportunistic fungal infections due to the immune- compromised status of renal transplant patients are related to high rates of morbidity and mortality regardless of their minor incidence. Delayed in identification of invasive fungal infections (IFIs), will lead to delayed treatment and results in high mortality in those populations. The study aimed to assess the frequency of invasive fungal infection in kidney transplant recipients by conventional and molecular methods. This study included 100 kidney transplant recipients (KTR) (75 males, and 25 females), collected from the Centre of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation in the Medical City of Baghdad. Blood samples were collected during the period from June 2018 to April 2019. Twent

Measurement and Analysis of Bubble Size Distribution in the Electrochemical Stirred Tank Reactor
...Show More Authors

The dimensions of bubbles were measured in a stirrer tank electrochemical reactor, where the analysis of the bubble size distribution has a substantial impact on the flow dynamics. The high-speed camera and image processing methods were used to obtain a reliable photo. The influence of varied air flow rates (0.3; 0.5; 1 l/min) on BSD was thoroughly investigated. Two types of distributors (cubic and circular) were examined, and the impact of various airflow rates on BSD was investigated in detail. The results showed that the bubbles for the two distributors were between 0.5 and 4.5 mm. For both distributors at each airflow, the Sauter mean diameter for the bubbles was calculated. According to the results, as the flow rate raised, the bubb
