The 2D imaging survey was conducted across an unknown K- 3 cavity that is located in Haditha area-Western Iraq.2D measurements are collected along two intercrossing traverses above the cavity with 105m length of each one. Dipole-dipole array is performed with n-factor of 6 and a-spacing equals to 5m. The inverse models of 2D imaging technique showed clearly that the resistivity contrast between the anomalous part of cavity and background resistivity of rocks is about 800:100 Ωm .In addition, the invers models showed that the depth from ground surface to the upper roof of cavity approximately equals to 11m near the cavity operator. So, the K-3 cavity is well defined from 2D imaging with Dipole –dipole array in comparison with the actual depth of this cavity which equals to 11.5m approximatly. It is concluded that the 2D imaging is a useful technique and more effective for determining and mapping subsurface cavities, when the suitable a-electrode spacing and n-factor for the Dipole –dipole array are taken in consideration.
Unknown subsurface leaking water sources and possible subsurface seepage from a sewage tank in a garden at Al-Khawarizmi engineering college, University of Baghdad, were detected in this study. The 2D electrical resistivity imaging. The ERI survey is carried out along two lines, 60m and 50m long, with an electrode spacing of 1 m, forming a cross using the Wenner-Schlumberger array configuration. Line 1 is 60m, while line 2 is 50m. Soil samples were collected from line 1 at positions of electrode 34, which shows a high resistivity value, and electrode 55, which shows low resistivity, for laboratory analysis. Robust inversion and modelling processes showed relative change and high contrast in interpreted resistivities. Soil analy

Throughout the study area, 14 groundwater samples (Bashina, Zwachi springs and Wells), 8 surface water samples from the study area, and 7 spring samples were analyzed for 2H and 18O stable isotopes and hydrochemical analysis. In this study, the temperature, altitude and continental effects on the isotopic composition of rain water in Iraq were studied. The climate of the study area is classified as semi-arid to arid region. The results show a variation in the isotopic values of Haditha reservoir and Euphrates river. This variation is due to the effect of the low surface area and the

The results showed that Ajeel anticline structure was relocated at the correct position in the migrated stacked section. The two methods (Pre and Post) of migration processing showed enhanced subsurface images and increased horizontal resolution, which was clear after the broadening the syncline and narrowing or compressing the anticline. However, each of these methods was associated with migration noise. Thus, a Post-Stack process was applied using Dip-Removal (DDMED) and Band-Pass filters to eliminate the artifact noise. The time-fr

Two main seismic reflectors are identified within the Silurian and Ordovician; these are the Hot_shale_1 within Akkas Formation and the Top Khabour Formation, which were deposited during the Paleozoic, based on synthetic seismogram of Akk_3 well near the study area. Time, depth, and velocity maps show the presence of two anticline structures trending east-west and located on the west side of the study area. The first is the Tulul structure (here denoted as A) and the second is denoted as B. Also, the maps show the increase in time towards the

Synthetic trace are prepared by using available data of the well (Kh-1) using Geoframe program to define and picking the reflectors on seismic section. These reflectors are: (Within Fatha and Kurra Chine reflectors) representing Middle Miocene and Late Triassic ages respectively. A listric growth normal fault is affecting the stratigraphic succession, and normal fault as a result of collision of Arabian plate with Eurasian plate. In addition, minor normal faults (Dendritic and Tension) are developed on the listric normal growth fault

The delineation of the sub-surface structural features and evaluation of the structure of Najmah and Zubair Formations was done. The structure interpretation showed that the studied area was affected by normal fault bearing (NW-SE) direction with a small displacement. In contrast, time and depth maps showed monocline structures (nose structures) located in the western part of the studied area.
The study area is located within the Hit area, western Iraq. The measurements of Graphical Bristow’s method were carried out by using Pole-dipole array, to delineate the anomaly of apparent resistivity caused by a known cavity target. The survey was applied along two traverses: traverse in W-E direction and traverse in S-N direction above Um El-Githoaa cavity. Data interpretation of the traverse trending W-E, with a-spacing equal to(2m)identified the anomaly of the cavity at a depth of (2.6m), (1.6m) height, and( 9.5m) width, while the actual dimensions of depth, height, and width were (3.80m),( 2.2m), and (12.30m) respectively, with variations of depth equal to (1.2m), high (0.8m), and width( 2.8m). The data interpretation with a-spac

The survey was carried out using Dipole-dipole array with an n-factor of 6 and a-spacing values of 2 m and 5 m. The inverse models of the 2D electrical imaging clearly show the resistivity contrast between the anomalous parts of the weakness zones and the background resistivity distribution. The thickness and shape of the subsurface weakness zones were well defined from the 2D imaging using Dipole-dipole array of 2 m a-spacing. The thickness of the weakness zone ranges between 9.5 m to 11.5 m. Whereas the Dipole-dipole array with a-spacing of 5 m and n-factor of 6 allocated

The total data points were 4455 reads for Dipole-dipole, and the total data points for Wenner were 2340 reads, and the depth of each array was 15.4 m and 20.2 m, respectively. The 2D inverse results indicate the resistivity anomalies approximately at depth (2 - 7.8) m formed as a weakness zone lies within the quaternary and Injana Formation deposits and interbedded with secondary gypsum and gypcretes. Additionally, the inverse resistivity distribution model demonstrated that the area is impacted by groundwater that is interaction wit
