The aim of current study is estimate the ability of low cost adsorbents, which consist of extracted silica from rice husk ash in treatment of Industrial waste water that contains heavy metals (Cd, Co and Pb) with other pollutants by fixed filters technique with determine the best method for that, and study the effect of a number of variables and parameters. This study involved one waste water samples were collected from. State battery manufacturing company (SBMC) (before treatment unit) at 5th and 22th, of the January 2015. Adsorption tests showed that all tested adsorbent materials had a significant heavy metal removal efficiency. pH values showed a significant impact on adsorption process, but best removal efficiency occurred at pH 4.5 and 6 with removal efficiency for Cd 91% at pH 6, 90.8% at pH 4.5 respectively .Furthermore, the best pH for pb removal was ranged from 4 to 6, 77.75% to 71% and finally the pH of Co ranged from 4.5 to 6, 64.4% according to adsorbent materials and type of heavy metals in this study. Regarding contact time, adsorbent silica gel showed high adsorption efficiency at a variable time from 6 min to 93 min. for Cd, Co and pb. chemical and physical measurement were done for samples of industrial waste water before treatment and also after treating by adsorbents such as Cd, Co, Pb, pH, TDS, S, COD and EC. Moreover, the current work has examined the impact of various environmental variables such as pH values and contact time.

The Effects of Alcoholic Extract of Ficus carica Leaves on Some Chemical and Microbiological Properties of Beef during Refrigerated Storage
...Show More Authors

This study explored the preservative effects of the alcoholic leaves’ extract of Ficus carica plant on beef refrigerated for 15 days. Phytochemical analysis showed that the plant extract contained terpenoids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids. Furthermore, the alcoholic extract of plants significantly reduced the total viable counts of psychrotrophic bacteria, pathogenic bacteria (Proteus, Salmonella typhimiurum, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus), and yeasts (Candida kruse, Candida lambica, and Zygosaccharomyces) isolated from meat samples, particularly at 100 and 200 mg/ml concentrations.

The antioxidant activity of the extract was det

Effect of alcoholic extract of Adhatoda vasica leaves on some biological performance of Ceratitis capitata larvae
...Show More Authors

Many biological tests were done to study the effect of the crude alcoholic leaves extracts on the biological characteristics at the larvae fruit fly Ceratitis capitata with different concentrations of the extracts exposed 1,2,3,5 and 7.5 % at constant laboratory conditions includes the temperature and the relative humidity (27±2C0&70±5 % respectively). The results of the experiments showed that the alcoholic extracts of the plant effected the growth and the development of the larvae and pupae according to the concentrations . The alcoholic extracts proved to have the highest mortality tend to 66.76 % in larva treated with alcoholic at concentration 7.5 % the

Evaluation of Antibacterial Activity of Laurus nobilis Leaves Extract against Escherichia coli Isolates
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study is to evaluating the antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extract on E. coli isolates. Maceration and Soxhlet apparatus were used to prepare aqueous and methanolic extracts; total phenolic content and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) were conducted to determine the active compounds in the extracts. The results showed that both Laurus nobilis methanolic and aqueous extracts have a noticeable effect on scavenging free radicals. Free radical scavenging activity. The total phenolic contents were 28.60 ±0.12 and 16.58 ±0.11mg/g in 50 mg/ml, in methanolic and aqueous extracts respectively. The antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extracts showed that the methanolic extract was more effective than

Evaluation of some bioactive effect of phenolic compounds in Costus speciosus rhizome extract
...Show More Authors

This work was evaluated the antioxidant, antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of Costus speciosus rhizomes methanol extract. The FLC analysis showed the presence of five compounds in the methanol extract of C. speciosus rhizomes. These compounds were Quercetin (5.2mg/ml), Rutin (6.02mg/ml), Luteolin, (18.3mg/ml),
Kaempherol, (11.34mg/ml) and Coumarin (1.41mg/ml). The maximum antioxidant activity of the extract was at concentration 1000 μg/ml with free radical scavenging activity approximately 67.5%. It was less than standard ascorbic acid 85.5% and Gallic acid 90% with significant difference (p≤0.05), with no significant difference
in comparison with standard TBA 68.5%. The IC50 of extract was 3093

Biosynthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles by hot aqueous extract of Allium sativum plants
...Show More Authors

Current studies interested on the biosynthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) using hot plants extracts of Allium sativum and characterization of them using: Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffractions (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT- IR), UV–visible spectral and Hot stage. The results found that all NPs are had nano-size. ZnO NPs was produced by four procedures using hot extract of Allium sativum. The average diameters were: 101.59 nm, 110.33 nm, 75.69 nm, 88.67 nm for first, second, third and fourth procedures respectively compared with 47.57 nm for standard NPs. The Roughness averages (Ra) were: 10.8 nm, 6.83 nm, 13.8 nm, 0.541 nm for first, second, third and fourth respectively. The Root mean square (Sq
