Study the Effect of some Medical Plants in Biofilm Formation and Antibiotic Sensitivity for Klebsiella Pneumoniae

Twenty clinical and fecal samples (ten clinical samples from patients attending to
Imam Ali Hospital and ten chicken faeces samples collected from local poultry farm
in Baghdad city) collected during December 2015, for isolated Klebsiella
pneumoniae. All K. pneumoniae isolates were extended-spectrum β- lactamase
producers and biofilm formation. The activities of two selected K. pneumoniae
isolates for their biofilm formation and susceptibility to antibiotics after treatment
with several plants extracts were investigated. The results of water and 60% ethanol
extracts for Matricaria chamomile flowers, Alhagi maurorum leafs, Syzygium
aromaticum buds (clove) and Arctium minus leafs were showed reduction of biofilm
formation and change the ability of antibiotic susceptibility for these two tested K.
pneumoniae isolates. The indirect effect of plants extracts on the bacterial growth
may be causing indirect effect on the metabolic activity and DNA (chromosome or
plasmid) of cells. All tested plant extract contain many antimicrobial and antioxidant
component by using GC-mass.

Study of ELISA and antibiotic sensitivity test for Salmonella enteritidis as experimental infection in mice

Salmonella enteritidis one of more important as epidemiological bacteria between other salmonella types. It is very important pathologically that cause food poising and gastrointestinal tract infections. This study includes some of immunological changes that appear by ELISA test and antibiotic sensitivity test against these bacteria in mice. ELISA test results appears high immunological response happen after 3 days of inoculation, mean titration readings beginning 0.198 and the maximum mean titration after 15 days of inoculation 1.538 and begin to decrease after this time slowly to remain about 0.297 after 40 days of inoculation. An antibiotics sensitivity test result appears, this bacteria sensitive to Chloramphenicol, Ceftriaxone,

Molecular Detection of Klebsiella pneumoniae serotype K2 Isolated Clinically

One hundred specimens (urine and sputum) were collected in sterilized containers from patients attending two hospitals in Baghdad province including: Educational Al-Karama Hospital and Educational Al-Yarmouk Hospital, in which, thirty-eight K. pneumoniae isolate were obtained out of one hundred specimens, all of which are of urine origin. The results obtained in this study showed that Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were highly resistant to Augmentine (94.7%), also Klebsiella isolates were resistant to Ceftriaxone (86.8%), Cefotaxime (81.5%), and Ceftazidime (65.7%). Very low level of resistance was found toward Imipenem and Meropenem (18.4% and 5.2%) respectively. Only four isolates (10.52 %) were positive for wzy gene; K19, K20, K21, an

Antibacterial Susceptibility of Clinical Isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae in Nigeria to Carbapenems

The emergent bacterial resistance to antibiotics, most especially Carbapenems, has become a common phenomenon. The aim of the recent study was the observation and evaluation of the antibacterial susceptibility of Klebsiella pneumoniae in clinical specimens to different Carbapenems. One hundred isolates of K. pneumoniae isolated from different clinical sites, such as leg, caesarean section (CS), head, buttock, breast, thigh, and arm were tested. Using disc diffusion method, the isolates were tested for susceptibility to different antibiotics including Tobramycin, Ciprofloxacin, Aztreonam, Colistin sulphate, Ceftriaxone, Cefepime, Cefoxitin, Ceftazidime, Ertapenem, Meropenem, and Imipenem. The results were interpreted acc

Investigation for some Aminoglycosides Modifying Enzymes- Encoding Genes and Co-Resistance to Fluoroquinolones among Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates from Different Clinical Cases

In this study, we investigated the prevalence of aminoglycosides modifying enzymes (AMEs)-encoding genes, including aac(3′)-ΙΙ, ant(3′′)-Ι, aph(3′)-VΙ, and aac(6′)-Ιb-cr and their potential effect on the development of resistance to aminoglycosides and fluoroquinolones in clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae. According to the phenotypic and biochemical characteristics of 150 clinical samples, 50 (33%) isolates were identified as K. pneumoniae. These isolates were collected from different clinical sources, including urine (15, 30%), blood (12, 24%), sputum (9, 18%), wounds (9, 18%), and burns (5, 10%). The minimum inhibitory conce

The effect of D and L- amino Acids on Biofilm Formation in Different Microorganisms

The D-enantiomers of amino acids have been thought to have relatively insignificant function in biological processes like, D-amino acids are sometimes found in proteins that are not synthesized by ribosomes. While L-amino acids clearly permanent in nature, D-amino acids have previously inapprehensible regulatory roles in the bacterial kingdom, any diverse of bacterial phyla made from these D-amino acids regulate cell wall remodeling in stationary phase and cause biofilm dispersal in aging bacterial communities. Clarification the mechanism by which D-amino acids given cell wall reorganization and biofilm disassembly will undoubtedly discover new paradigms for understanding how extra cytoplasmic processes are regulated as well as lead to d
