Microfacies Evaluation of Mauddud Formation in Ratawi Field, South Iraq

This paper includes studying the microfacies evalution of Mauddud Formaion in
four wells(Rt-2, Rt-5, Rt17 and Rt-19). Seventy-seven(77) sampels were collected
of above mentioned wells. Based on fossil content of the samples under study, four
main microfacies were identified: packstone , wakestone , grainstone and lime
mudstone microfacies ,which deposited in shallow open marine and restricted
marine environments. Petrographic examination of thin section indicated that
diagenesis vary in intensity from one site to another, such as dissolution,
cementation, compaction, dolomitization and micritization, which led to the
improvement and deterioration of porosity. The dominant pore types are vuggy,
interparticle and intercrystal.The lithology, mineralogy and the matrix were
determined by using crossplot method, which showed that the predominant
lithology of the formation is limestone with the presence of dolomite in very few
percentages and the mineralogy is calcite. Based on the relationship between
porosity and permeability the resevoir performance of the microfacies classified
into four types: bad, fair, good and very good. Based on petrophysical properties
and core description of well study Mauddud Formation was divided into four rock
units A,B,C and D , in terms of reservoir, units A and C are considered good ,while
B and D are bad.

Biostratigraphy of the Jeribe Formation at Selected Sections in Wasit Governorate, Eastern Iraq

The present study is concerned with Biostratigraphy of the Early-Middle Miocene outcrops of Jeribe Formation in the Zurbatiyah area, Wasit Governorate, Eastern Iraq. Forty-two Samples collected from Shur Sharin and AL-Hashima outcrop sections. The fossil content is rich in large and small benthic foraminifera; Twenty-one species and genus are identified in this study, in addition to coral, gastropoda, pelecypoda, ostracoda, alge, echinoid and shell fragments. Lithostratigraphy and Biostratigraphy of the Shiranish Formation (Late Campanian- Maastrichtian) in Diana area, Northern Iraq

       The lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic studies of the Shiranish Formation in the Diana area, Erbil, Northern Iraq, were conducted to distinguish the main lithostratigraphic units, depositional environment and the formation age. The Shiranish Formation in the study area can be divided into three rock units. The lower and upper units consist of marly limestone, marl and limestone deposited in the outer shelf environment, while the middle unit is dominated by laminated calcareous shale and marl deposited in the upper bathyal environment. Depositional Environment of the Gercus Formation in Jabal Haibat Sultan, NE Iraq; New Sedimentological Approach

Sedimentary structures of Gercus Formation in NE Iraq was little studied in the last decades. In this study the identified sedimentary structures display alternative graded and fining upward cycles, load and flute casts, submarine channels, sand and clay balls and pillow structures, convolute and slump beddings, of marine turbidity origin. The foreland part of Tethys basin characterized by deep marine Tanjero and Kolosh Formations followed by the Gercus formation with conformable relationships. The Eocene aged Flysch comprises predominantly litharenitic sandstones and interbedded mudstones, both of turbiditic affinities and most likely derived from a NE Arabian Plate source. sample slides and depending on sedimentary structures and diagenetic processes .The facies
reflect the environment of the foreslope.This work proves the absence of Bekhme formation
in Dernir Dagh
Well- 1 as a tongue as reported by the Oil Exploration Company. Some species and genera of
bentonic foraminifera were identified. The age of Bekhme formation was estimated
depending on the recognized index fossils to be lower Maastrichtian.

Gastropods of Aptian- Cenomanian of Qamchuqa Formation from Northern Iraq

Gastropod species belonging to Qamchuqa Formation (Aptian-Cenomanian) in the North of Iraq are studied. These species  are Harpagodes nodosus (J.de C. Sowerby,1823),  Ampullina sp.1 (Hannaa and Furisch, 2011), Ampullina sp.2 (Hannaa and Furisch, 2011), Tylostoma pallaryi (Peron and Fourtau, 1904), Calliomphalus orientalis (Douville,1916), and Pyrgulifera (Meek, 1871). They are recorded in the Upper Cretaceous succession of Northern Iraq for the first time. Most of these species are internal moulds and not abundant at any stratigraphic level but irregularly scattered in the formation.

Determination of Uranium Concentration in child teeth by track detector CR-39 in same middle and south regions of Iraq
