Evaluation of the Physical Parameters on Ischemic Heart Disease Patients Using Echocardiography
...Show More Authors

Background: Left ventricular function and volumes have major diagnostic and prognostic importance in patients with various cardiac diseases, such as ischemic heart disease which is a life-threatening heart disease condition characterized by systolic dysfunction and a decrease in cardiac output.

According to left ventricular ejection fraction, the degree of ischemic heart disease was classified as mild, moderate, and severe. To determine cardiac function and hemodynamics, the echocardiography technique is used, which is a noninvasive diagnostic method.

Patients and Methods: The study included 216 patients between 25 and 75 years old; 121 males and 95 females; 265 normal individuals (age range: 25 to 75 years old); 84 males and 181 females. Doppler echocardiography was used to assess left ventricular function. The measurements included left ventricular end-diastole diameter (LVIDd), left ventricular end-systole diameter (LVIDs), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF%).

Results show a significant correlation in the values of EDV, ESV and LVEF (all: p < 0.05). The change difference in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was (61.88%), (47.57%), and (36.76%), respectively, for all degrees of ischemia. While the change difference in left ventricular end diastolic volume (LVEDV)between patients and control groups was (173.38%), (248.83%), and  (289.82%), respectively. On the other hand, the change in left ventricular end systolic volume (LVESV) was (258.73%), (495.13%), and (569.72%), respectively, for all degree of ischemia.

Conclusion: The findings suggest that diastolic dysfunction is more common in patients than in healthy people. This could be due to the adverse effects of ischemic heart disease on the cardiac muscle. These changes in left ventricular structure may include left ventricular hypertrophy, increase in stiffness, and reduction in compliance.

INVESTIGATION OFsHLA-GAND IT’S RECEPTOR (LILRB4) IN IRAQI PATIENTS INFECTED WITH L. INFANTUMAND THEIR EFFECTS ON THE LEVEL OF IL-12
...Show More Authors

Visceral leishmaniasis(VL) or kala-azar is one of the world most neglected tropical diseases in mortality and fourth in morbidity, rK39 dipstick was used to diagnose the suspected infected patients as easiest and rapid technique for VL diagnostic, the disease out-coming required to the differentiation of cell mediated immunity either T-helper 1(Th-1) or (Th-2). One of main pointers that may be considered as one of immune evasion strategy in the host-parasite interplay is HLA-G level alteration. HLA-G Known as a special proteins (non-classical HLA class I) molecules which can suppress the immune system by T-cell functions impaired in the aid with target receptors as LILRB4. The development of the cell mediated immunity initiated with Interle

Evaluation of the Antibiofilm Activity of Laurus nobilis Leaves Extract and Assessment of Its Effect on fimA and papC genes in Escherichia coli isolates
...Show More Authors

Background: The beneficial gut bacterium E. coli can cause blood poisoning, diarrhoea, and other gastrointestinal and systemic disorders. Objective: This study amid to examines the antibiofilm activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extract on E. coli isolates and compares pre- and post-treatment gene expression of fimA and papC genes. Subjects and Methods: Ten isolates of E. coli were obtained from the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute, University of Baghdad, which was previously collected from Baghdad city hospitals and diagnosed by chemical tests, the diagnosis was confirmed using VITEK-2 System. The preparation of the aqueous and methanolic Laurus nobilis leaves extracts was done by using the maceration method and Soxhlet appara

Evaluation of the Effect of Type II Diabetes mellitus on Bone Mineral Density of Upper and Lower Limbs by Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry
...Show More Authors

Background: Bone mineral density has been assessed using Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry. Bone mineral density is measured according to the results of the Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry examination of the vertebral column and pelvis. Although diabetes mellitus type II (DM) is known to affect bone mineral density, at the present time this particular relationship is not clear. Objective: The aim of current study was to evaluate the effects of type II diabetes mellitus on bone mineral density of the upper and lower limbs as well as gender differences. Patients and Methods: This study involved 165 patients complaining of bone pain (85 males and 80 females), 85 patients of who suffered from diabetes, involving both genders. In addition,

The Effect of Using Online Automated Feedback on Iraqi EFL Learners’ Writings at University Level
...Show More Authors

Feedback on students’ assignments can be done in many different ways. Nowadays, the growing number of students at universities has increased the burden on the instructors to give feedback on students’ writings quickly and efficiently. As such, new methods of modern online automated feedback tools, such as Hemingway app and ecree, are used to assist and help instructors. Hence, this research is an explanatory study to examine the effect of using the online automated feedback on some Iraqi EFL learners’ writings at the university level. The study comprised 60 students enrolled in an English language course at the University of Anbar. They were divided randomly into two groups, experi

The Effect of Window Size Changing on Satellite Image Segmentation Using 2D Fast Otsu Method
...Show More Authors

Multispectral remote sensing image segmentation can be achieved using a multithresholding technique. This paper studies the effect of changing the window size of the two dimensional (2D) fast Otsu algorithm that presented by Zhang. From the results, it shown that this method behaves as a search machine for the valleys (an automatic threshold), between the gray levels of the histogram with changing the size of slide window.

Keywords Image Segmentation, (2D) Fast Otsu method, Multithresholding, Automatic thresholding, (2D) histogram image.

Computer Simulation for the Effects of Optical Aberrations on Solar Images Using Karhunen-Loeve polynomials
...Show More Authors

Numerical simulations were carried out to evaluate the effects of different aberrations modes on the performance of optical system, when observing and imaging the solar surface. Karhunen-Loeve aberrations modes were simulated as a wave front error in the aperture function of the optical system. To identify and apply the appropriate rectification that removes or reduces various types of aberration, their attribute must be firstly determined and quantitatively described. Wave aberration function is well suitable for this purpose because it fully characterizes the progressive effect of the optical system on the wave front passing through the aperture. The Karhunen-Loeve polynomials for circular aperture were used to

A Comparative Study on the Electrical Characteristics of Generating Plasma by Using Different Target Sources
...Show More Authors

In this research, the electrical characteristics of glow discharge plasma were studied. Glow discharge plasma generated in a home-made DC magnetron sputtering system, and a DC-power supply of high voltage as input to the discharge electrodes were both utilized. The distance between two electrodes is 4cm. The gas used to produce plasma is argon gas which flows inside the chamber at a rate of 40 sccm. The influence of work function for different target materials (gold, copper, and silver), - 5cm in diameter and around 1mm thickness - different working pressures, and different applied voltages on electrical characteristics (discharge current, discharge potential, and Paschen’s curve) were studied. The results showed that the discharge cur
