Image Compression Using Deep Learning: Methods and Techniques
...Show More Authors

In recent years images have been used widely by online social networks providers or numerous organizations such as governments, police departments, colleges, universities, and private companies. It held in vast databases. Thus, efficient storage of such images is advantageous and its compression is an appealing application. Image compression generally represents the significant image information compactly with a smaller size of bytes while insignificant image information (redundancy) already been removed for this reason image compression has an important role in data transfer and storage especially due to the data explosion that is increasing significantly. It is a challenging task since there are highly complex unknown correlations between the pixels. As a result, it is hard to find and recover a well-compressed representation for images, and it also hard to design and test networks that are able to recover images successfully in a lossless or lossy way. Several neural networks and deep learning methods have been used to compress images. This article survey most common techniques and methods of image compression focusing on auto-encoder of deep learning.

Adapting the Grimms: Going Against Patriarchy in Singh’s Movie Mirror Mirror
...Show More Authors

Many cinematic adaptations were produced for the Grimms’ “Little Snow-White” (1812) including Mirror Mirror movie (2012), the contemporary version adapted by Taresm Singh. Singh’s version was able to depict the modern reality of women and went against patriarchy by embracing feminist ideologies of the fourth-wave feminism. Therefore, he challenged the ideologies of the mainstream cinema dominated by the patriarchal élite’s capitalist mode of production that still adhere to the stereotyped patriarchal image of women’s ‘victimization,’ ‘objectification’ and ‘marginalization,’ which did not represent women’s modern reality anymore. This paper, however, is a qualitative study aimed to prove that the femini

A Comparison of Bayes Estimators for the parameter of Rayleigh Distribution with Simulation
...Show More Authors

A comparison of double informative and non- informative priors assumed for the parameter of Rayleigh distribution is considered. Three different sets of double priors are included, for a single unknown parameter of Rayleigh distribution. We have assumed three double priors: the square root inverted gamma (SRIG) - the natural conjugate family of priors distribution, the square root inverted gamma – the non-informative distribution, and the natural conjugate family of priors - the non-informative distribution as double priors .The data is generating form three cases from Rayleigh distribution for different samples sizes (small, medium, and large). And Bayes estimators for the parameter is derived under a squared erro

Synthesis of the integer FIR filters with short coefficient word length
...Show More Authors

The integer simulation and development finite impulse response (FIR) filters taking into account the possibilities of their realization on digital integer platforms are considered. The problem statement and solution of multifunctional synthesis of digital FIR filters such a problem on the basis of the numerical methods of integer nonlinear mathematical programming are given. As an several examples, the problem solution of synthesis FIR-filters with short coefficient word length  has been given. The analysis of their characteristics is resulted. The paper discusses issues of modeling and synthesis of digital FIR filters with provision for the possibilities of their implementation on digital platforms with integer computation arithme

Frequency Dispersion of the Signal in the Recursive Digital Section of the Second Order
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The problems of modeling the signal and dispersion properties of a second order recursive section in the integer parameter space are considered. The formulation and solution of the section synthesis problem by selective and dispersive criteria using the methods of integer nonlinear mathematical programming are given. The availability of obtaining both positive and negative frequency dispersion of a signal in a recursive section, as well as the possibility of minimizing dispersion distortions in the system, is shown.</p>

On the Stability of Four Dimensional Lotka-Volterra Prey-Predator System
...Show More Authors

The aim of this work is to study a modified version of the four-dimensional Lotka-Volterra model. In this model, all of the four species grow logistically. This model has at most sixteen possible equilibrium points. Five of them always exist without any restriction on the parameters of the model, while the existence of the other points is subject to the fulfillment of some necessary and sufficient conditions. Eight of the points of equilibrium are unstable and the rest are locally asymptotically stable under certain conditions, In addition, a basin of attraction found for each point that can be asymptotically locally stable. Conditions are provided to ensure that all solutions are bounded. Finally, numerical simulations are given to veri

Estimating the Reliability Function of some Stress- Strength Models for the Generalized Inverted Kumaraswamy Distribution
...Show More Authors

This paper discusses reliability of the stress-strength model. The reliability functions 𝑅1 and 𝑅2 were obtained for a component which has an independent strength and is exposed to two and three stresses, respectively. We used the generalized inverted Kumaraswamy distribution GIKD with unknown shape parameter as well as known shape and scale parameters. The parameters were estimated from the stress- strength models, while the reliabilities 𝑅1, 𝑅2 were estimated by three methods, namely the Maximum Likelihood,  Least Square, and Regression.

A numerical simulation study a comparison between the three estimators by mean square error is performed. It is found that best estimator between

Flexible Genetic Algorithm Based Optimal Power Flow of Power Systems
...Show More Authors

Nowadays, the power plant is changing the power industry from a centralized and vertically integrated form into regional, competitive and functionally separate units. This is done with the future aims of increasing efficiency by better management and better employment of existing equipment and lower price of electricity to all types of customers while retaining a reliable system. This research is aimed to solve the optimal power flow (OPF) problem. The OPF is used to minimize the total generations fuel cost function. Optimal power flow may be single objective or multi objective function. In this thesis, an attempt is made to minimize the objective function with keeping the voltages magnitudes of all load buses, real outp

Behavior of Partially Saturated Cohesive Soil under Strip Footing
...Show More Authors

In this paper, a shallow foundation (strip footing), 1 m in width is assumed to be constructed on fully saturated and partially saturated Iraqi soils, and analyzed by finite element method. A procedure is proposed to define the H – modulus function from the soil water characteristic curve which is measured by the filter paper method. Fitting methods are applied through the program (SoilVision). Then, the soil water characteristic curve is converted to relation correlating the void ratio and matric suction. The slope of the latter relation can be used to define the H – modulus function. The finite element programs SIGMA/W and SEEP/W are then used in the analysis. Eight nodded isoparametric quadrilateral elements are used for modeling

Comparison Different Estimation Method for Reliability Function of Rayleigh Distribution Based On Fuzzy Lifetime Data
...Show More Authors

In this study, we present different methods of estimating fuzzy reliability of a two-parameter Rayleigh distribution via the maximum likelihood estimator, median first-order statistics estimator, quartile estimator, L-moment estimator, and mixed Thompson-type estimator. The mean-square error MSE as a measurement for comparing the considered methods using simulation through different values for the parameters and unalike sample sizes is used. The results of simulation show that the fuzziness values are better than the real values for all sample sizes, as well as  the fuzzy reliability at the estimation  of the Maximum likelihood Method, and Mixed Thompson Method perform better than the other methods in the sense of MSE, so that

Monotone Approximation by Quadratic Neural Network of Functions in Lp Spaces for p<1
...Show More Authors

Some researchers are interested in using the flexible and applicable properties of quadratic functions as activation functions for FNNs. We study the essential approximation rate of any Lebesgue-integrable monotone function by a neural network of quadratic activation functions. The simultaneous degree of essential approximation is also studied. Both estimates are proved to be within the second order of modulus of smoothness.
