Fifty isolates of Bacillus sp. were subjected to the first and second screening to detect the ability to produce laccase enzyme and select the highest ones production of laccase on Petri plates containing nutrient agar supplemented with Cu2+.
Syringaldazine was used as an indicator and substrate for the determination of laccase activity. Three isolates, which consumed less time to developed pink color were tested for the production of laccase quantitatively. The effective isolate B16 with significant amounts of laccase 1.84 unit /ml was selected for laccase study.

An oil spillage has been a great threat to human life in parts of Koya district, especially through the contamination of domestic water. An attempt was made to find and map the extent of pollution in the area. According to a field survey, more than 17 springs and 34 hand-dug and artesian wells have been contaminated with crude oil. The contamination was recorded recently after loading began of tens of oil tankers in the Taq-Taq oil field, and as a result hundred barrels of oil have spilled into the creeks and soil daily. This study was done to clarify the effects of PGF2a on thymocytes in rat thymus gland, and the possibility of minimizing its effects by using fenugreek extract. The results have shown that PGF2a can cause a considerable degenerative changes in thymocytes. On the other hand,the fenugreek extract enhances the thymocyte proliferation and at least minimizes the effects of PGF2a on thymocytes.

Fifty isolates of Bacillus spp were obtained from rhizosphere soil of compositae
plant roots. The ability of inulinase production by these isolates was screened.
Bacillus Be9, which isolated from soil of lettuce root, was the highest inulinase
producer; it was identified as Bacillus cereus. Optimal culture medium and
condition for inulinase production were determinatd; the highest inulinase
production was obtained when the bacteria was cultured in inulin medium which
contained 0.5% inulin, 0.4% peptone as carbon and nitrogen source at pH 7.0
inoculated with 1ml of bacterial suspension and incubated at 40˚C for 48hrs.
