Evaluation of groundwater recharge in arid and semiarid regions (case study of Dibdiba formation in Karballa-Najaf plateau)

The process of recharge the groundwater is the key factors that need to be addressed as is the foundation upon which the process of groundwater use and management properly, especially in arid and semi-arid, like Iraq, so the values of groundwater recharge calculated vary depending on the method used in the calculation and the more factors calculated in the process of calculating the values of groundwater recharge increased margin of error in these values. In this study were selected four methods to calculate the value of recharge for groundwater (fluctuating water table, water balance of the basin, numerical modeling, and balance of chloride ion mass in unsaturated zone) was applied in the Plateau area of Karbala (Dibdiba formation) has given these methods produce different results to the values of groundwater recharge. has given way balance chloride ion mass in the unsaturated zone give a results are closer to reality through compering with the volume of water that inventories renewed.

Facies and Reservoir Evaluation of Mishrif Formation in Tuba Oil Field

The Mishrif Formation is one of the most important formation in oil fields, which is located in southern part of Iraq, and it is of Upper Cretaceous age. Tuba field is located nearly 40 km SW – Basrah city. It is bounded from east by Zubair oil field (5 km distance) and from west by Rumaila (2 km distance). The Tuba oil field is situated between Zubair oil field in the east and Rumaila in the west, and is separated by two depressions.
The rock (core and chips) samples have been collected systematically from cores of Mishrif Formation that are available from stores of southern oil company to prepare thin sections and slides—these slides have been examined by using microscope. These samples have been taken from all parts of the rese

Unravelling the genetic diversity and population structure of common walnut in the Iranian Plateau
Abstract
<title>Background

Common walnut (Juglans regia L.) has a long cultivation history, given its highly valuable wood and rich nutritious nuts. The Iranian Plateau has been considered as one of the last glaciation refugia and a centre of origin and domestication for the common walnut. However, a prerequisite to conserve or utilize the genetic resources of J. regia in the plateau is a comprehensive evaluation of the genetic diversity that is conspicuously lacking. In this regard, we used 31 polymorphic simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers to delineate the genetic variation and population stru

Evaluation of Water Quality Index (WQI) in and around Dhaka City Using Groundwater Quality Parameters

Groundwater quality deterioration due to anthropogenic natural activities and its immense utilization in various sectors is considered a great concern. The aim of this study is to determine the groundwater quality parameters at various sources in and around Dhaka city and compare them with Bangladesh drinking water standards. In this study, six groundwater quality parameters (pH, DO, COD, TS, TDS, and arsenic) and ten groundwater samples are analyzed to determine the water quality. The collected samples have maximum and minimum pH values of 6.9 and 6.4, respectively. Maximum and minimum DO values are 0.3 and 0.1 mg/L, respectively. The arsenic concentration is 0 mg/L for all collected groundwater samples. The maximum and minimum COD
