Numerical simulations are carried out to investigate the possibility of observing
extrasolar planet nearby star via optical telescopes. Several techniques are
considered in this study in order to quantitatively assess their quality in suppressing
the wings of the point spread function of optical telescope of a reference star. The
optical telescope with circular Gaussian shape aperture reveals extrasolar planet
even with contrast ratio 10-7 while the square Gaussian shape aperture reveals the
planet with 10-5.
Direct contact membrane distillation is an effective method for production of fresh water from saline water. In this study two samples were used as feed solutions; the first one was RO waste from Al-Hilla Coca-Cola Factory (TDS= 2382 mg/l) and the other was Haji Ali drainage water (TDS= 4127 mg/l). Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) hydrophobic membrane supported with polypropylene (PP) was used as flat sheet form with plate and frame cell. To replace the sensor, information on the rotor speed and position are extracted from measured stator currents and from voltages at motor terminals. In this paper presents direct field-orientation control (DFOC) with two type of kalman filter (complete order and reduced order extended kalman filter) to estimate flux, speed, torque and position. Simulated results show how good performance for reduced order extended kalman filter over that of complete order extended kalman filter in tracking performance and reduced time of state estimation.
