Serological relatedness among clinical and environmental Acinetobacter baumannii isolates isolated from hospitals in Baghdad

During 2011, 1900 clinical specimens (urine, wounds, burns, blood and sputum) and
240 hospital environment specimens were collected from four hospitals in
Baghdad/Medical city including: Baghdad Teaching Hospital, The Martyr Gazi Al-
Hariry Hospital, Welfare Teaching Hospital and The Burn Specialist Hospital. All
specimens were cultured and 128 Acinetobacter baumannii were obtained from
clinical and environmental specimens in a ratio of 6.05% (n=115) and 5.42%
(n=13), respectively. These isolates were identified using microscopic examination,
biochemical tests and Api 20 E system. The slide agglutination technique for rabbit
immune sera and A. baumannii bacteria was used and our data analysis revealed a
serological relatedness among the isolates. We found 22 different serotypes for 128
clinical and environmental A. baumannii isolates. The most common serotype was
serotype 1 which included 34 isolates (26.56%) and there were 40 (31.25%)
miscellaneous isolates which isolated from different specimens, departments and
hospitals. Notably, they didn’t arrange within any of the 22 serotypes. Upon such
findings we may conclude, there is a wide variation in serological characteristics of
the locally isolated A. baumannii.

The problem and its manifestations with the modernists through the Iberissian systems in modern terminology (applied study): (Applied study)

Islamic law has relied on a number of sources in order to denote the rulings issued by them, including what is original and what is sub, and it is known to all scholars, that the Prophet's Sunnah is the second major source after the Koran, which separated the overall and devoted its year and restricted absolute. God Almighty obeyed the owner and his followers, and that his obedience of obedience to God Almighty said: (Who obeys the messenger has obeyed God) (women: 80), and then between the peasant who believes in him and his victory and follow him, he said: (and he said: And the one who was revealed with them were the successful ones (al-A'raf: 157).
It is known that the Sunnah commanded to follow is the

The Effect of Selectivity of Inhibitors to Cox-2 Enzyme on Hepatobiliary and Platelet Function in Patients with Osteoarthritis

Background: The development of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) was based principally on inhibiting cyclooxygenases (COX) activity. However, the identification of two
COX- isoforms (i.e., COX-1 and COX-2) with different physiological effects has led to the development of COX-2 specific NSAIDs, with fewer adverse effects than traditional NSAIDs.
Therefore, They are expected to produce anti-inflammatory activity with minimal adverse effects on GI mucosa, as well as, other structures and cells such as platelets.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of selectivity of COX-2 inhibitors on many organs and systems function such as the hepatobiliary system, platelets function, as well as, seru

The Effects of Melatonin On The Oxidative Stress , Protein Glycation , Microalbuminuria and Lipid Profile In Type II Diabetes Mellitus

Previous studies indicated that supplementation with antioxidants has a protective effects against oxidative stress–induced damage in type 2 diabetes. In this study we evaluated the antioxidant effects of melatonin on the oxidative stress parameters and microalbuminuria in type 2 DM patients. 30 patients with type 2 DM were treated with 3mg/day melatonin for 90 days. Erythrocytes and plasma MDA and glutathione, fasting plasma glucose, %HbAIC, microalbuminuria, total plasma protein and lipid profile were measured each 30 days and compared with those obtained from 20 healthy controls.

A decrease in MDA levels associated with the elevation in GSH levels were observed, compared with the pre–treatment levels.

Comparison of Artificial Neural Network and Box- Jenkins Models to Predict the Number of Patients with Hypertension in Kalar

Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is widely used in many complex applications. Artificial neural network is a statistical intelligent technique resembling the characteristic of the human neural network.  The prediction of time series from the important topics in statistical sciences to assist administrations in the planning and make the accurate decisions, so the aim of this study is to analysis the monthly hypertension in Kalar for the period (January 2011- June 2018) by applying an autoregressive –integrated- moving average model  and artificial neural networks and choose the best and most efficient model for patients with hypertension in Kalar through the comparison between neural networks and Box- Je

The Effect of Pores in Dual Nano Hydroxyapatite Coating on Thermally Oxidized Commercial Pure Titanium: Mechanical and Histological Evaluation

Background:In this study,TiO2 layer was thermally grown as a diffusion barrier on CP Ti substrate prior to electrophoretic deposition of HA coatings, to improve the coating’s compatibility also macro and micro pores in nano Hydroxyapatite dual coatings were created and their effect on the bond strength between the bone and implant was evaluated. Materials and methods: Electrophoretic Deposition technique (EPD) was used to obtain coatings for each one of four types of Hydroxyapatite(HA)on CP Ti screws (micro HA, nano HA, dual nano HA with micro pores, dual nano HA with macro pores) where carbon particles used as fugitive material to be removed by thermal treatment to create porosity. For examination of the changes occurred on the subs

Assessment of pollution with some heavy metals in water, sediments and Barbus xanthopterus fish of the Tigris River–Iraq

In this study, four sampling stations were selected on the Tigris River (Baghdad region) in order to determine concentrations, seasonal variation and pollution intensity assessment of heavy metals (Cd, Zn and Mn) in water, sediments and Barbus xanthpterus fish in this river. The study results showed that the mean concentration of dissolved heavy metals (cadmium, zinc and manganese) were 0.004 ppm, 0.023 ppm and 0.007 ppm, respectively. Whereas, their concentrations in sediments were 1.38 ppm, 86 ppm and 231.4 ppm respectively. Irregular seasonal variation for concentrations of these metals in both sediments and water. The mean concentration of these metals in tissues of fish muscles were 0.0043 ppm, 0.0023 ppm and 0.03 ppm for cadmium, z

*E mail:[email protected] 1802 The Role of Antibiotic-Killed Staphylococcus aureus and Its DNA to Cause Arthritis in Rats

The purpose of this study is to investigate the capability of bacterial DNA compared to bacterial lysate in stimulating arthritis using rat model. One hundred mid-stream urine specimens were collected during November 2012 to January 2013, from patients suffering from urinary tract infections attending hospitals in Baghdad, Iraq. Susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus isolates to antibiotics was examined. Twenty five isolates were identified as S. aureus and they developed multi drug resistance. S. aureus S1 lyaste and its DNA were intra-articulary injected in rats. The levels of IL-6, anti-ds DNA Ab and leukocytes count were measured. In general, IL-6, anti-ds DNA Ab and leukocytes count were significantly higher in sera of rats injecte
