Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAHs) in the Tigris River through Passing Baghdad Province

Tigris River receives many pollutants while passing through Baghdad province due to increasing of population, discharge of untreated industrials, agricultural wastes on the river. The present study was conducted from January 2013 to December 2013 on the Tigris River starting from Al-Muthana Bridge to Al-Zaufurania city before it's jointed with Diyalla Tributaries. Six stations were chosen on the Tigris River along Baghdad city. The study was included measuring the bimonthly concentrations and distributions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the samples of surface water. The sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) listed by USEPA as priority pollutants (Naphthalene, Acenaphthalene, Acenaphthene, Fluorene, Phenanthrene, Anthracene, Flouranthene, Pyrene, Benzo(a)anthracene, Chrysene, Benzo(b)flouranthene, Benzo(k)fluoranthene, Benzo(a)pyrene, Pyrene, Dibenzo(a,h)anthracene, benzo(g,h,i)perylene and Inden(1,2,3-cd)pyrene) were detected. The highest value of total PAHs was 0.279 ppm recorded during August 2013 whereas the lowest value was 0.007 ppm during October 2013 at Al-Durah power plant discharge sit. The lowest value of (0.0002) ppm was recorded for Fluorene and Fluoranthene, while the highest value of (0.2) ppm for Naphthalene at Al-Durah power plant sit.

The prediction of the blood flow through an axisymmetric arterial stenosis is one of the most important aspects to be considered during the Atherosclrosis. Since the blood is specified as a non-Newtonian flow, therefore the effect of fluid types and effect of rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluid on the degree of stenosis have been studied. The motion equations are written in vorticity-stream function formulation and solved numerically. A comparison is made between a Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid for blood flow at different velocities, viscosity and Reynolds number were solved also. It is found that the properties of blood must be at a certain range to preventing atheroscirasis

DETERMINATION OF THE OPTIMUM OPERATING CONDITIONS IN THE GRANULATION OF GAMMA ALUMINA CATALYST SUPPORT

Granulation Technique for Gamma Alumina Catalyst Support was employed in inclined disk granulator (IDG), rotary drum granulator (RD) and extrusion – spheronization equipments .Product with wide size range can be produced with only few parameters like rpm of equipment, ratio of binder and angle of inclination. The investigation was conducted for determination the optimum operating conditions in the three above different granulation equipments.

Evaluation water quality of Diyala River in Iraq using Bhargava method

Limnological Features of the Southern Part of Gharaf River and the Impacts of Floodplain Period on its Characteristics

The current study was conducted on the southern part of Gharaf  River in   order to define the physical-chemical properties and the impact of the Tigris River’s floodplain water on its ecological characteristics during 2019. Four sites were selected along the southern part of the river. The findings showed a strong connection between the temperature of air and water at all sites.
