PDF Evaluation of 940 nm Diode Laser in Esthetic Crown Lengthening
...Show More Authors

Abstract Background: Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that apically positions the gingival edge and/or removes supporting bone in order to increase the amount of supra gingival tooth structure for restorative or cosmetic purposes.

The objective of the study: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the 940nm diode laser in esthetic crown lengthening surgery through clinical observations, patient questionnaires, clinical photographs, and gingival healing following gingival operations. Material and methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 16 patients (11 females and 5 males) had their crowns surgically lengthened using a diode laser (940 nm) in continuous wave (CW) mode with 1 watt energy settings. A visual analogue scale is used on the first, third, seventh, and twenty-first days following surgery to record pain, swelling, bleeding, functional interference, tooth sensitivity, and success from an aesthetic standpoint, as well as overall patient satisfaction based on patient opinion and clinical photographs. Results: In the present study, we noticed that the scale of pain, bleeding, oedema, function interferance, and tooth sensitization significantly decreased gradually during the first two visits. The measured parameters completely disappeared after one week in most cases, as well as increase patient satisfaction and aesthetic achievement. The patients were recalled three weeks later, the wounds had totally healed, and the patient were not complaining of any pain. Conclusion: Crown lengthening requires optimal gingival margin design. This involves precise shaping of delicate tissues, which is difficult with the scalpel. While Lasers give improved gingival sculpting control and can be used for aesthetic crown lengthening. The laser surgery has many advantages, including excellent hemostasis with little or no bleeding, being less invasive and sterile wound cut, causing less pain and suffering during and after surgery, and enhancing patient satisfaction since the operation is short and, in most circumstances, relatively painless. Also, in laser surgery, there is less functional interruption and enhanced patient satisfaction since a periodontal pack is not needed to cover the surgery site. The healing is faster and more aesthetic when using laser surgery procedure.

Enhancing the Spectral Characteristics of Rhodamine 610 Laser Dye Doped with Chemically Prepared Gold Nanoparticles
...Show More Authors

In this study, gold nanoparticle samples were prepared by the chemical reduction method (seed-growth) with 4 ratios (10, 12, 15 and 18) ml of seed, and the growth was stationary at 40 ml. The optical and structural properties of these samples were studied. The 18 ml seed sample showed the highest absorbance. The X- ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of these samples showed clear peaks at (38.25o, 44.5o, 64.4o, and 77.95o). The UV-visible showed that the absorbance of all the samples was in the same range as the standard AuNPs. The field emission-scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) showed the shape of AuNPs as nanorods and the particle size between 30-50 nm. Rhodamine-610 (RhB) was prepared at 10<

Evaluation of Patients with Liver Injuries Treated by Perihepatic Gauze Packing
...Show More Authors

Background: The liver is one of the most common organs
injured after blunt abdominal trauma. The control of severe
hemorrhage remains a problem.
Methods: One-hundred thirty-eight patients diagnosed as
liver injury between 09/2003 and 08/2006 had been evaluated
prospectively in Al- Kindy Teaching Hospital.
A distinction was made between hemodynamically stable and
unstable patients. Different modalities of surgical procedures
were done concentrating on perihepatic gauze packing.
Results: (60 out of 138) patients included in the study were
clinically evaluated as hemodynamically stable. The average
abbreviated injury severity score (ISS) was 25. Twenty
patients underwent abdominal surgery. In 12 of them

Impact of empowerment and functional flexibility in evaluating worker performance :an empirical study
...Show More Authors

This study was conducted in the Department of Employment and Loans at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to indicate the importance and impact of both the empowerment and the functional flexibility in evaluating the performance of the employees. To achieve the objectives of the study, the data was collected through a questionnaire form designed for this purpose based on previous studies. Data obtained for a significant evaluation of the relationship between the components of both the empowerment and the functional flexibility with the components of the evaluation and determining the degree of importance of each component of both the empowerment and functional flexibility for the components of the evaluation by the extractio

The influence of surfactant type on the formation of zinc oxide nanoparticles via liquid phase pulsed laser ablation technique
...Show More Authors

To produce Zinc Oxide NanoParticles, ZnO-NPs, different methods can be used. However, the utilization of Liquid-Phase Pulsed Laser Ablation, LP-PLA, methodology of three distinct environment of aqueous using pure zinc plate will be one of the approaches for this job. Thus, in this work, concentrates on the influence of the results after employing some changes on the environment in other words, the influence of the NPs size and/or the NPs availability/appearance. Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide, CTAB, is one of the three surfactants that have been used in the water-based solution. That is, the Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate, SDS, besides the Distilled Water, DW, the three surfactants will be ready when the molarity of the DW is around 10− 3 M. Th

Structural and optical properties of ZnO doped Mg thin films deposited by pulse laser deposition (PLD)
...Show More Authors

This paper reports the effect of Mg doping on structural and optical properties of ZnO prepared by pulse laser deposition (PLD). The films deposited on glass substrate using Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) as the light source. The structure and optical properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmittance measurements. The films grown have a polycrystalline wurtzite structure and high transmission in the UV-Vis (300-900) nm. The optical energy gap of ZnO:Mg thin films could be controlled between (3.2eV and 3.9eV). The refractive index of ZnO:Mg thin films decreases with Mg doping. The extinction coefficient and the complex dielectric constant were also investigate.

Evaluation of Pedestrians Walking Speeds in Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

This research examines the factors which influence pedestrian's walking speed in Baghdad. the variations in walking speed of pedestrians are related to pedestrian characteristics such as gender, age group, and clothing traditions. Using the established methodology, the counts of pedestrians were performed using manual and video counting. The case study was performed in two streets located in a highly crowded commercial zone at the city center of Baghdad: Al-Karada Dakhel and Al- Sina’a Street. Data were subjected to statistical analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics 19 software. It has been found that Iraqi pedestrians walk slower than other pedestrians in the developed countries or in the region with minimum walking speed of 29.85 m/min.

Evaluation of Maintenance Management in Iraqi Governmental Buildings
...Show More Authors

Impact of buildings in Iraq and other countries on the environment is obvious; this problem began to take scientific and humanitarian dimensions in order to reduce and eliminate this problem. This impact can be seen through the energy, water and raw materials consumed for the establishment, operation and maintenance of these buildings, as well as the emissions of hazardous gases and generations of solid wastes.

This work was conducted to assess the current maintenance managerial practice for the governmental buildings to stand on the main obstacle and extrapolation of measures by means of interviews with experts to determine the effective factors and closed questionnaire to state the features and the need for new
