Biotreatment of Oil Wells Drilling Waste in an Agricultural Soil
...Show More Authors

One of the most important environmental issues is the responsible effective and economic treatment of drilling waste especially oily waste.
In this research two fungal isolates named Pleurotus ostreatus and Trichoderma harzianum were chosen for the first time to treat biologically the oily drilled cuttings contaminated with diesel which resulted from drilling oil wells use oil based muds (OBMs).
The results showed that the fungi under study utilized the hydrocarbon of contaminated soil as a source of nutrient and growth and that both fungi can be considered hydrocarbon degrading microorganisms. The used biotreatment is cost effective process since most of the materials used in the cultivation and growth of the present fungi were available and cheap agricultural waste.
The best hydrocarbon degradation was observed in case of using both fungi together with 8 % by weight microorganisms concentration ratio and with the same ratio of nutrients components expressed as carbon/nitrogen/phosphorus equal to 100/60/10 with 10/1 carbon/potassium which gave average total petroleum hydrocarbon degradation of about 395 ppm per day. Good results were obtained using the new nutrients components ratio(C/N/P=100/60/10 with C/K=10) compared to other studies applied different nutrients ratios for the same type of diesel contamination.

Preparation and characterization of lacidipine as an oral fast dissolving film
...Show More Authors

Background: Fast dissolving oral drug delivery system is solid dosage form which disintegrates or dissolves within second when placed in the mouth without need of water or chewing. In present investigation, an attempt has been made to develop oral fast dissolving film of calcium channel blocker lacidipine. Method: Five formulas were prepared by solvent casting method using HPMC (METOLOSE)® as a film forming polymer and evaluated for their physical characteristics such as thickness, weight variation, folding endurance, drug content, disintegration time and in vitro drug release. The compatibility of the drug in the formulation was confirmed by FTIR and DSC studies. Result and Conclusion: The optimized formula F1 showed minimum in vitr

An Artificial Neural Network Prediction Model of GFRP Residual Tensile Strength
...Show More Authors

This study uses an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to examine the constitutive relationships of the Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) residual tensile strength at elevated temperatures. The objective is to develop an effective model and establish fire performance criteria for concrete structures in fire scenarios. Multilayer networks that employ reactive error distribution approaches can determine the residual tensile strength of GFRP using six input parameters, in contrast to previous mathematical models that utilized one or two inputs while disregarding the others. Multilayered networks employing reactive error distribution technology assign weights to each variable influencing the residual tensile strength of GFRP. Temperatur

Petrophysical Properties of an Iraqi Carbonate Reservoir Using Well Log Evaluation
...Show More Authors

This research was aimed to determine the petrophysical properties (porosity, permeability and fluid saturation) of a reservoir. Petrophysical properties of the Shuiaba Formation at Y field are determined from the interpretation of open hole log data of six wells. Depending on these properties, it is possible to divide the Shuiaba Formation which has thickness of a proximately 180-195m, into three lithological units: A is upper unit (thickness about 8 to 15 m) involving of moderately dolomitized limestones; B is a middle unit (thickness about 52 to 56 m) which is composed of dolomitic limestone, and C is lower unit ( >110 m thick) which consists of shale-rich and dolomitic limestones. The results showed that the average formation water

Stability Analysis with Bifurcation of an SVIR Epidemic Model Involving Immigrants
...Show More Authors

There are many factors effect on the spread of infectious disease or control it,
some of these factors are (immigration and vaccination). The main objective of this
paper is to study the effect of those factors on the dynamical behavior of an SVIR
model. It is assumed that the disease is spread by contact between members of
populations individuals. While the recovered individuals gain permanent immunity
against the disease. The existence, uniqueness and boundedness of the solution of
this model are investigated. The local and global dynamical behaviors of the model
are studied. The local bifurcations and Hopf bifurcation of the model are
investigated. Finally, in order to confirm our obtained results and specify t

Intelligent H2/H∞ Robust Control of an Active Magnetic Bearings System
...Show More Authors

Abstract

Robust controller design requires a proper definition of uncertainty bounds. These uncertainty bounds are commonly selected randomly and conservatively for certain stability, without regard for controller performance.  This issue becomes critically important for multivariable systems with high nonlinearities, as in Active Magnetic Bearings (AMB) System. Flexibility and advanced learning abilities of intelligent techniques make them appealing for uncertainty estimation. The aim of this paper is to describe the development of robust H2/H controller for AMB based on intelligent estimation of uncertainty bounds using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS).  Simulatio

Spot Welding of Dissimilar Metals Using an Automated Nd:YAG Laser System
...Show More Authors

An assembled pulsed Nd:YAG laser-robot system for spot welding similar and dissimilar metals is presented in this paper. The study evaluates the performance of this system through investigating the possibility and accuracy of executing laser spot welding of 0.2 mm in thickness stainless steel grade AISI302 to 0.5 mm in thickness low carbon steel grade AISI1008. The influence of laser beam parameters (peak power, pulse energy, pulse duration, repetition rate, and focal plane position on the final gained best results are evaluated. Enhancement of the experimental results was carried by a computational simulation using ANSYS FLUENT 6.3 package code.

Global Stability of an epidemic model with vaccine involving stage structure
...Show More Authors

In this paper a mathematical model that analytically as well as numerically
the flow of infection disease in a population is proposed and studied. It is
assumed that the disease divided the population into five classes: immature
susceptible individuals (S1) , mature individuals (S2 ) , infectious individual
(I ), removal individuals (R) and vaccine population (V) . The existence,
uniqueness and boundedness of the solution of the model are discussed. The
local and global stability of the model is studied. Finally the global dynamics of
the proposed model is studied numerically.

Re-Evaluation Solution Methods for Kepler's Equation of an Elliptical Orbit
...Show More Authors

An evaluation was achieved by designing a matlab program to solve Kepler’s equation of an elliptical orbit for methods (Newton-Raphson, Danby, Halley and Mikkola). This involves calculating the Eccentric anomaly (E) from mean anomaly (M=0°-360°) for each step and for different values of eccentricities (e=0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9). The results of E were demonstrated that Newton’s- Raphson Danby’s, Halley’s can be used for e between (0-1). Mikkola’s method can be used for e between (0-0.6).The term  that added to Danby’s method to obtain the solution of Kepler’s equation is not influence too much on the value of E. The most appropriate initial Gauss value was also determined to

Generation of 629 nm Pulsed Laser Using an Optical Parametric Amplifier
...Show More Authors

The main purpose of this work is the construction of an optical parametric amplifier (OPA) to generate a 629 nm pulsed laser. KTP nonlinear crystals were used for both parametric oscillation and amplification. A singly resonant parametric oscillator (OPO) is constructed to generate a signal of 1.54 μm and idler of 3.4 μm when the OPO system is pumped by 1.064 μm Q – switched Nd: YAG laser. The signal was then mixed with the pumping beam in OPA system to form the wanted wavelength. The obtained optical conversion efficiency was 60%.
