Artificial intelligence‐based modeling of novel non‐thermal milk pasteurization to achieve desirable color and predict quality parameters during storage
...Show More Authors
Abstract
<label></label><p>This study proposed using color components as artificial intelligence (AI) input to predict milk moisture and fat contents. In this sense, an adaptive neuro‐fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) was applied to milk processed by moderate electrical field‐based non‐thermal (NP) and conventional pasteurization (CP). The differences between predicted and experimental data were not significant (p > 0.05) for lightness (L*), redness‐greenness (a*), yellowness‐blueness (b*), total color differences (∆E), hue angle (h), chroma (C), whiteness (WI), yellowness (YI), and browning index (BI). ANFIS well‐predicted milk fat and moisture content using quadratic and two‐factor interaction models with mean errors of .00858–.01260 and correlation coefficient of .8051–.8205. Stability tests showed L* and WI reduced while a*, b*, ΔE, h, C, YI, and BI increased during the storage. NP milk had 77.21% higher half‐life than CP, as predicted by ANFIS modeling. Findings indicated milk quality characteristics could be estimated based on physical parameters (e.g., color components), contributing to sustainable food production.</p>
<title>Practical applications

The findings offer practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) as an innovative monitoring and prediction technique to enhance food quality and sustainability. The proposed methodology makes the real‐time prediction of milk quality feasible by leveraging AI and physical parameters. An adaptive neuro‐fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) accurately predicts moisture and fat contents according to color values, facilitating quality assessment. Stability tests during cold storage provide insights into milk quality changes over time, aiding in determining key parameters in predictive modeling. The proposed approach was found to be applicable to both conventional and non‐thermal pasteurized milk. This study also provides a step‐by‐step protocol, facilitating the implementation of emerging technologies in the food industry.

Thermal Osmosis of Mixtures of Water and Organic Compounds through Different Membranes
...Show More Authors

The present work aimed to study the efficiency of thermal osmosis process for recovery of water from organic wastewater solution and study the factors affecting the performance of the osmosis cell. The driving force in the thermo osmosis cell is provided by a difference in temperature across the membrane sides between the draw and feed solution. In this research used a cellulose triacetate (CTA), as flat sheet membranes for treatment of organic wastewater under orientation membrane of active layer facing feed solution (FS) and draw solution (DS) is placed against the support layer.  The organic materials were phenol, toluene, xylene and BTX (benzene, toluene, and xylene) used as feed solution. The osmotic agent in draw solution was

An evaluation of water absorption of Giomer in comparison to other resin-based restorative materials
...Show More Authors

Background: Polymeric composites have been widely used as dental restorative materials. A fundamental knowledge and understanding of the behavior of these materials in the oral cavity is essential to improve their properties and performance. The goal of this study was to measure water sorption of four composite resins containing different filler and resin matrix contents. Materials and method: Resin composite specimens giomer (Beautifil II) Filtek™ P90, Filtek™ Z350 XT, and Tetric N Ceram were prepared in a cylindrical mould of 3mm thickness and 6mm diameter (n=10) and light cured . All specimens placed in silica-gel desiccators at 37˚C for seven days, a constant weight was obtained. All samples were immersed in deionized distill

Finite Element Based Solution of Laplace's Equation Applied to Electrical Activity of the Human Body
...Show More Authors

Computer models are used in the study of electrocardiography to provide insight into physiological phenomena that are difficult to measure in the lab or in a clinical environment.

The electrocardiogram is an important tool for the clinician in that it changes characteristically in a number of pathological conditions. Many illnesses can be detected by this measurement. By simulating the electrical activity of the heart one obtains a quantitative relationship between the electrocardiogram and different anomalies.

Because of the inhomogeneous fibrous structure of the heart and the irregular geometries of the body, finite element method is used for studying the electrical properties of the heart.

This work describes t

Using a spherical inverted pendulum and statokinesigram for modeling and evaluating quiet standing posture
...Show More Authors

This paper proposes a new approach to model and analyze erect posture, based on a spherical inverted pendulum which is used to mimic the body posture. The pendulum oscillates in two directions, [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], from which the mathematical model was derived and two torque components in oscillation directions were introduced. They are estimated using stabilometric data acquired by a foot pressure mapping system. The model was quantitatively investigated using data from 19 participants, who were first were classified into three groups, according to the foot arch-index. Stabilometric data were then collected and fed into the model to estimate the torque’s components. The components were statistically proce
