Two series of bent and liner core mesogen containing 1,2,4-traizole ring [VI]a,g and series were synthesized by many steps starting from esterification of isophthalic acid and terephathalic acid with methanol to yield diester compound [I]a,b which was converted to their acid hydrazide [II]a,b and the acid hydrazide reacted with ammonium thiocyanate or diester reacted with thiosemicarbazide to yield compounds [III]a,b. Then cyclization by 4% NaOH to yielded 1,2,4 traizole-3- thiol compounds [IV]a,b , afterword adding hydrazine hydrate to yield compounds [V]a,b. These compounds condensated with different substituted aldehyde to give new Schiff bases[VI]a,b ,[VII]a,b . Also , reaction acid hydrazide [II]a,b with aldehyde [VII] to yielded Schif

The synthesis of ligand (HL) was based on multi-steps synthetic procedure. The reaction of 4-methylsulfanyl-benzoyl chloride with hydrazine gave 4-methylsulfanyl-benzoic acid hydrazide. This compound was reacted with carbon disulfide and potassium hydroxide in methanol to yield N'-(4-methylsulfanylbenzoyl)-hydrazine potassium thiocarbamate, which upon reaction with methyl iodide resulted in the formation of the ligand. In the present work, Rice husk from Iraqi rice named (Amber) had been used as the primary source to produce rice husk ash (RHA) for the removal of the antibiotic metronidazole (Flagyl) from water. After optimum drying of rice husk, rice husk ash (RHA) was obtained at 600 °C using an electric oven. RHA has been investigated for properties using X-ray diffraction (XRD), porosity, and surface area (SA). The experimental work adsorption data were optimized to evaluate Langmuir and Freundlich constants. The thermodynamic parameters likely a change in Gipp's energy (ΔG),

Different ACs were synthesized under the atmosphere's conditions during carbonation via two activation methods: first, chemical activation, and second, carbon dioxide-physical activation. The influence of the drying period on the preparation of the precursor and the methods of activation were investigated. The specific surface area and pore volume of the activated carbon were estimated using the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method. The AC produced using physical activation had a surface area as high as 1210 m2/g with a pore volume of 0.37 cm3/g, whereas the chemical activation had a surface area of 1210 m2/g with a pore volume of 0.34 c

Show MoreEpoxy resin has many chemical features and mechanical properties, but it has a small elongation at break, low impact strength and crack propagation resistance, i.e. it exhibits a brittle behavior. In the current study, the influence of adding kaolin with variable particle size on the mechanical properties (flexural modulus E, toughness Gc, fracture toughness Kc, hardness HB, and Wear rate WR) of epoxy resin was evaluated. Composites of epoxy with varying concentrations (0, 10, 20, 30, 40 weights %) of kaolin were prepared by hand-out method. The composites showed improved (E, Gc, Kc, HB, and WR) properties with the addition of filler. Also, similar results were observed with the decrease in particle size. In addition, in this study, mult

Plum seeds and activated carbon produced were characterized in terms of their physical and chemical composition using Brunauer–Emmett–Teller measurements, field emission scanning electr
Pharmaceuticals have been widely remaining contaminants in wastewater, and diclofenac is the most common pharmaceutical pollutant. Therefore, the removal of diclofenac from aqueous solutions using activated carbon produced by pyrocarbonic acid and microwaves was investigated in this research. Apricot seed powder and pyrophosphoric acid (45 wt%) were selected as raw material and activator respectively, and microwave irradiation technique was used to prepare the activated carbon. The raw material was impregnated in pyrophosphoric acid at 80◦C with an impregnation ratio of 1: 3 (apricot seeds to phosphoric acid), the impregnation time was 4 h, whereas the power of the microwave was 700 watts with a radiation time of 20 min.
