Plain, Edge, and Texture Detection Based on Orthogonal Moment
...Show More Authors

Image pattern classification is considered a significant step for image and video processing. Although various image pattern algorithms have been proposed so far that achieved adequate classification, achieving higher accuracy while reducing the computation time remains challenging to date. A robust image pattern classification method is essential to obtain the desired accuracy. This method can be accurately classify image blocks into plain, edge, and texture (PET) using an efficient feature extraction mechanism. Moreover, to date, most of the existing studies are focused on evaluating their methods based on specific orthogonal moments, which limits the understanding of their potential application to various Discrete Orthogonal Moments (DOMs). Therefore, finding a fast PET classification method that accurately classify image pattern is crucial. To this end, this paper proposes a new scheme for accurate and fast image pattern classification using an efficient DOM. To reduce the computational complexity of feature extraction, an election mechanism is proposed to reduce the number of processed block patterns. In addition, support vector machine is used to classify the extracted features for different block patterns. The proposed scheme is evaluated by comparing the accuracy of the proposed method with the accuracy achieved by state-of-the-art methods. In addition, we compare the performance of the proposed method based on different DOMs to get the robust one. The results show that the proposed method achieves the highest classification accuracy compared with the existing methods in all the scenarios considered.

The dynamics of nutrient, toxic phytoplankton, nontoxic phytoplankton and zooplankton model
...Show More Authors

<p>The objective of this paper is to study the dynamical behavior of an aquatic food web system. A mathematical model that includes nutrients, phytoplankton and zooplankton is proposed and analyzed. It is assumed that, the phytoplankton divided into two compartments namely toxic phytoplankton which produces a toxic substance as a defensive strategy against predation by zooplankton, and a nontoxic phytoplankton. All the feeding processes in this food web are formulating according to the Lotka-Volterra functional response. This model is represented mathematically by the set of nonlinear differential equations. The existence, uniqueness and boundedness of the solution of this model are investigated. The local and global stability

Genetic Diversity and Polymorphism of Eucalyptus L՚He҆r Speciesby ITS Sequence
...Show More Authors

Genus Eucalyptus belongs to the family Myrtaceae that consists of more than 700 species, various hybrids and varieties. The majorly distributed species that are grown in Iraq are Eucalyptus alba, E. macarthurii, E. siderophloia and E. camaldulensis, E. tereticornis, E. vicina. Most Eucalyptus species are highly dependent on rainfall, and this is challenged by climatic changes owing to global warming making it difficult to effectively match the availability of mature trees and the market demand, especially for use as power transmission poles. With the widespread availability of other naturally occurring Eucalyptus species, it has become important to determine the genetic diversity and to analyze the phenotypic tra

The Causal Relationship between Forgiveness and Psychological Hardiness For University Students
...Show More Authors

The research aimed to identify the causal relationship between forgiveness and psychological hardness for university students, by answering the following questions: Does forgiveness cause psychological hardiness? Does psychological hardiness cause forgiveness? Is the relationship between the two variables a reciprocal relationship? The research sample consisted of (300) male and female students from the universities of Baghdad and Al-Mustansiriya University. To extract the psychometric properties of the two scales: forgiveness and psychological hardiness, a sample of (50) male and female students employed to repeat the test, making the six connections between the two research variables. To determine the causal relationship, The Pearson c

Enhanced TEA Algorithm Performance using Affine Transformation and Chaotic Arnold Map
...Show More Authors

In digital images, protecting sensitive visual information against unauthorized access is considered a critical issue; robust encryption methods are the best solution to preserve such information. This paper introduces a model designed to enhance the performance of the Tiny Encryption Algorithm (TEA) in encrypting images. Two approaches have been suggested for the image cipher process as a preprocessing step before applying the Tiny Encryption Algorithm (TEA). The step mentioned earlier aims to de-correlate and weaken adjacent pixel values as a preparation process before the encryption process. The first approach suggests an Affine transformation for image encryption at two layers, utilizing two different key sets for each layer. Th

Decolonizing Trauma and Cocooning Identity: A Study in Selected Postcolonial Plays
...Show More Authors

The concept of decolonization of trauma has intrigued researchers for years due to its prolonged effect on personal and cultural levels. The process of intellectual decolonization involves defensive survival mechanisms, such as cultural rituals using traditional practices, nostalgic dialogues that idealize memories and recollections, and conversations about identity to navigate postcolonial trauma displacement. Symbolic connections evoke strong emotional responses, bridging the gap between the characters‘ physical dislocation and their imaginary homeland. Cocooning identity represents a space where a multidimensional self emerges—one that holds the victim of trauma, the survivor who endures, and the narrator, who constructs an idealized

MUSLIM AMERICANS TRAUMA IN SAM YOUNIS BROWNTOWN AND AYAD AKHTARS DISGRACED
...Show More Authors

Cultural and identity scars have been engraved in the body of ethnic minority of Muslims in America due to the bloody attacks of 9/11. These events have created thus traumatic experiences on the party who witnessed the events at close and the people on whom the blame is conclusively directed, Muslim Americans. For Americans, the attacks resulted in a proud reassertion of the national virtue and communal integrity from which Muslim Americans were excluded. This reassertion is accompanied for Muslims by a reconstruction of a cultural identity away from their origin homeland and under pressures and prejudices that made the process of reconstruction to be severely challenging. Accordingly, the challenge needed to be portrayed to overcome the d

Copolymerazaion of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidon with Acrylic Acid and Methylmethacrylate
...Show More Authors

Low conversion copolymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidon M.W = (111.14) VP (monomer-1) has been conducted with acrylic acid AA and methymethacrylate MMA in ethanol at 70ºC , using Benzoyl peroxide BPO as initiator . The copolymer composition has been determined by elemental analysis. The monomer reactivity ratios have been calculated by the Kelen-Tudos and Finman-Ross graphical procedures . The derived reactivity ratios (r1 , r2 ) are : (0.51 , 4.85) for (VP / AA ) systems and (0.34 , 7.58) for (VP , MMA) systems , and found the reactivity ratios of the monomer AA , MMA is mor than the monomer VP in the copolymerization of (VP / AA) and (VP /MMA) systems respectly . The reactivity ratios values were used for microstructures calculation.

Prescribing Pattern and Rational use of Drugs in Maysan Governorate, Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study was designed to investing the drug prescribing pattern which is the important point in the rational or irrational use of drugs among patients dispensing their prescriptions from the private pharmacies in Maysan governorate, Iraq for a period of 1 month. The data collected from prescriptions were calculated and analyzed according to the WHO prescribing guidelines. The data showed that the mean of drugs included in single prescription was 3.4, and 12% of prescribed drugs were written as generic names; moreover, the percentage of antibiotics, corticosteroids and anxiolytics were 33.3%, 11.4% and 23.8% respectively. Those results indicate the irrational use of drugs when compared with the world health organization standard values
