This study presents the design, modeling, and experimental evaluation of a three-level electro-hydraulic elevator system controlled by a Delta DVP-20SX2 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) equipped with an integrated Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) module. The PLC, programmed in Ladder Logic using ISPSoft 2.46, regulates cabin motion across all three levels. A detailed MATLAB/Simulink model was developed, incorporating three PID controllers: one for displacement regulation via a proportional directional control valve and two for dynamic pressure regulation using a proportional pressure relief valve. Conventional PID parameters were initially tuned using the trial-and-error method based on time-domain performance indices and subsequently optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and the Cheetah Optimizer (CO). The optimized controllers are referred to as PSO-PID and CO-PID, respectively. The error standard used for the electro-hydraulic elevator control system is the Integral Time-weighted Absolute Error (ITAE) type. This study addresses the need to improve dynamic performance and control accuracy in electro-hydraulic elevator systems under maximum load conditions. Experimental results obtained under a 30 kg load for the displacement response showed that PSO-PID reduced rise time by 36.8% and settling time by approximately 37.2% while improving steady-state accuracy by nearly 80% compared with the conventional PID. The CO-PID controller further improved performance, achieving additional reductions of 13.6% in rise time and 13.8% in settling time relative to PSO-PID, as well as decreasing steady-state error by 37.5%. Overall, CO-PID achieved substantial reductions in rise and settling times (up to 45.4% and 45.7%, respectively) and improved steady-state accuracy by nearly 87% compared with the traditional PID. In pressure control loops, PSO-PID reduced settling time by up to 12.8%, whereas CO-PID achieved up to 16.4% faster stabilization relative to the conventional PID. The experimental results were in agreement with the developed MATLAB/Simulink model, confirming the high accuracy of the simulation in representing the system dynamics. These findings demonstrate the superior responsiveness, stability, and efficiency of the CO-PID controller for electro-hydraulic elevator applications.
In this work, analytical study for simulating a Fabry-Perot bistable etalon (F-P cavity) filled with a dispersive optimized nonlinear optical material (Kerr type) such as semiconductors Indium Antimonide (InSb). Because of a trade off between the etalon finesse values and driving terms, an optimization procedures have been done on the InSb etalon/CO laser parameters, using critical switching irradiance (Ic) via simulation systems of optimization procedures of optical cavity. in order to achieve the minimum switching power and faster switching time, the optimization parameters of the finesse values and driving terms on optical bistability and switching dynamics must be studied.

Show MoreCommunication between unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarms and flying ad-hoc networks is critical and challenging since it is over open radio networks and energy, memory and processing budgets are severely constrained. Lightweight cryptography is the solution and ASCON — the NIST standard for lightweight authenticated encryption — has become a popular option for securing UAV links at a fraction of the energy cost of AES. The security of ASCON relies on one nonlinear device — 5-bit substitution box (S-box). However, this S-box is fixed and publicly known, and allows an adversary to precompute the cryptographic properties one time and then reuse them against all the protected traffic, and moreover, it does not meet the strict av

Laboratory study was performed to compare the molluscicidal activity of leaves and stems extractsof Cucumis melo against Bulinus truncatus snail. The snail B. truncatus was exposed to a serial concentrations of leaves andstems extracts (4000ppm, 5000ppm) in this work. Different effects of the extracts to the snail B. truncatus were recorded. These effects includes death, escaping and imbalance of snail behavior. 96hr-LD50 values of leaves extracts were calculatedfor the doses 4000 and 5000ppm as (76 and 37%) respectively while for stems were (105 and 47%) respectively. A numerical model was created to simulate groundwater flow and analyze the water quality of the groundwater, by developing a conceptual model within the groundwater modeling system software. Nineteen wells were used, 15 for pumping and four for observation. A three-dimensional model was built based on the cross-sections indicating the geologic layers of the study area, which were composed of five layers. When a distance of 1,000 m between the wells was adopted, 135 wells can be operated simultaneously. These wells were hypothetically operated at 6, 12, and 18 h intervals, with a discharge of 200, 430, and 650 m
For modeling a photovoltaic module, it is necessary to calculate the basic parameters which control the current-voltage characteristic curves, that is not provided by the manufacturer. Generally, for mono crystalline silicon module, the shunt resistance is generally high, and it is neglected in this model. In this study, three methods are presented for four parameters model. Explicit simplified method based on an analytical solution, slope method based on manufacturer data, and iterative method based on a numerical resolution. The results obtained for these methods were compared with experimental measured data. The iterative method was more accurate than the other two methods but more complexity. The average deviation of
