Isotherms and Thermodynamic Parameters of Metoprolol Drug Adsorption on the Prepared Mesoporous Silica

In this study, mesoporous silica (MPS) is made using the sol-gel method from a cheap source (Na2SiO3) using the surfactant hydroxycetyl hydroxyethyl dimonium chloride as a template. The task is the adsorption-based removal of the medication metoprolol (MP) at concentrations between 10 and 50 ppm. Variables such as: contact time, dose of adsorbent, starting concentration of adsorbate, and adsorption temperature were studied which show the equilibrium time and adsorbent dose are 40 min and 0.05 g respectively. The Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm models were fitted to the data obtained from the experiments. Comparing the outcomes showed that, of the four investigated isotherm models, the Freundlich equation model could accurately predict these data. Based on adsorption isotherm analysis, as the temperature was raised, it was discovered that the amount of adsorption rose and that the adsorption was advantageous and may be a physical process. In addition, the study involved estimation of ∆H°, ∆S°, and ∆G° as thermodynamic parameters. ∆G° values were discovered to be between -20.24 and -26.22 kJ/mol and reduced when temperature rose, indicating that adsorption may be become more spontaneous at higher temperatures. The value of ∆H° was 38.10 kJ/mol indicate adsorption process was physical in character. ∆S° for this process had a value of 199.14 J/mol K which suggested the increased degree of flexibility of the adsorbed MP. The sign of ∆G° and ∆H° were suggested spontaneous and endothermic of the process

Image Compression based on Adaptive Polynomial Coding of Hard & Soft Thresholding

In this paper, an adaptive polynomial compression technique is introduced of hard and soft thresholding of transformed residual image that efficiently exploited both the spatial and frequency domains, where the technique starts by applying the polynomial coding in the spatial domain and then followed by the frequency domain of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) that utilized to decompose the residual image of hard and soft thresholding base. The results showed the improvement of adaptive techniques compared to the traditional polynomial coding technique.

Prospect of CW Raman Laser in Silicon- on- Insulator Nano-Waveguides

Numerical analysis predicts that continuous-wave (CW) Raman lasing is possible in Silicon-On-insulator (SOI) nano-waveguides, despite of presence of free carrier absorption. The scope of this paper lies on lasers for communication systems around 1550 nm wavelength. Two types of waveguide structures Strip and Rib waveguides have been incorporated. The waveguide structures have designed to be 220 nm in height. Three different widths of (350, 450, 1000) nm were studied. The dependence of lasing of the SOI Raman laser on effective carrier lifetime was discussed, produced by tow photon absorption. At telecommunication wavelength of 1550 nm, Raman lasing threshold was calculated to be 1.7 mW in Rib SOI waveguide with dimen

Classification of Cardiac Arrhythmia using ID3 Classifier Based on Wavelet Transform

Accurate detection of Electro Cardio Graphic (ECG) features is an important demand for medical purposes, therefore an accurate algorithm is required to detect these features. This paper proposes an approach to classify the cardiac arrhythmia from a normal ECG signal based on wavelet decomposition and ID3 classification algorithm. First, ECG signals are denoised using the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and the second step is extract the ECG features from the processed signal. Interactive Dichotomizer 3 (ID3) algorithm is applied to classify the different arrhythmias including normal case. Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Beth Israel Hospital (MIT-BIH) Arrhythmia Database is used to evaluate the ID3 algorithm. The experimental resul

Spam Filtering Approach based on Weighted Version of Possibilistic c-Means

A principal problem of any internet user is the increasing number of spam, which became a great problem today. Therefore, spam filtering has become a research fo-cus that attracts the attention of several security researchers and practitioners. Spam filtering can be viewed as a two-class classification problem. To this end, this paper proposes a spam filtering approach based on Possibilistic c-Means (PCM) algorithm and weighted distance coined as (WFCM) that can efficiently distinguish between spam and legitimate email messages. The objective of the formulated fuzzy problem is to construct two fuzzy clusters: spam and email clusters. The weight assignment is set by information gain algorithm. Experimental results on spam based benchmark

ON SOME SPECIES OF TUBULIFEROUS THRIPS (THYSANOPTERA: PHLAEOTHRIPIDAE) FROM BAGHDAD, IRAQ

Twelve species of Tubuliferous thrips, of the family Phlaeothripidae had been reported from Iraq. Two of these were reported previously, Haplothrips cerealis Priesner, by El-Haidari and Daoud 1971 and Haplothrips tritici kurdjumov by Al-Ali 1977 and the rest were recorded for the first time: these are Haplothrips hukkineni Priesner; Haplothrips subtilissimus (Haliday); Haplothrips reuteri Karny; Haplothrips jasonis Priesner; Haplothrips sallloumensis Priesner; Haplothrips pharao Priesner; Phlaeothrips sycomri Priesner; Karnyothrips flavipus (Jones); Karnyothrips melaleucus (Bagnall); Dolicholepta micrurus (Bagnall). Community Perception on Smart Engagement: Case of Kubang Pasu Local Government

Implementing smart community engagement should consider careful planning and collaboration with numerous stakeholders, including the community. The technology and program must be designed to frame its purpose and should link back to specific goals of implementing smart community engagement. Digital services do not guarantee a smart engagement between the community and the local government. This is the case for the Kubang Pasu local government where several online services have been provided in their attempt to implement the smart community concept. However, understanding on the preferences of features and requirements of existing web-based systems and the impact of these systems is lacking. Therefore, a perception study needs to be condu

Effectiveness of fishbowl strategy on intermediate students’ achievement in geography subject

The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of fishbowl strategy as one of the effective learning strategies for intermediate students’ achievement in geography subject. To do this, three classes of second intermediate were chosen from Noor Al-Mustafa School for academic years (2015-2016). (64) Student were selected as a sample that distributed into two equal groups: experimental and control group. The research used the achievement test as an instrument to come up with the finding of the study. The experiment began on Tuesday 13th of October 2015 and ended on Tuesday 5th January 2016. Through this time, the researcher taught them the first and second chapter in geography of Arab homeland using fishbowl s

Study on tssC1 Gene Mediating Biofilm Antibiotics Resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

P. aeruginosa is a famous bacterium that causes several diseases and has a high ability to be a multidrug resistant organism that is linked with the formation of biofilm. This study aimed to investigate tssC1 gene role in the resistance of different antibiotics in the presence of biofilm. We constructed biofilm for the isolates under the study and showed the effect of different antibiotics on biofilm formation and maturation. The presence of the gene was detected through achieving PCR reaction. Finally, tssC1 gene variation was determined through sequencing and aligning the sequencing products. The results showed that most of the isolates (80%) formed biofilm that played a role in the resistance of different antibiotics which could be du

The estimation of the stressÙ€ strength reliability of Invers Kumaraswamy distribution will be introduced in this paper based on the maximum likelihood, moment and shrinkage methods. The mean squared error has been used to compare among proposed estimators. Also a Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed methods in this paper.
