The research dealt with a comparative study between some semi-parametric estimation methods to the Partial linear Single Index Model using simulation. There are two approaches to model estimation two-stage procedure and MADE to estimate this model. Simulations were used to study the finite sample performance of estimating methods based on different Single Index models, error variances, and different sample sizes , and the mean average squared errors were used as a comparison criterion between the methods were used. The inhibitory effect of acetone, ethanol, and aqueous extracts of ten medicinal plants on β-lactamase from Staphylococcus sciuri and Klebsiella pneumoniae was investigated in vitro by starch-iodine agar plate method. The results revealed the success of starch-iodine method for the detection of the inhibition of β-lactamase activity by the various extracts of each individual plant. The acetone extracts of Catharanthus roseus, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, and Schinus terebinthifolius induced an inhibitory effect on β-lactamase from Staphylococcus sciuri. The study aimed to introduce the effect of Giardia lamblia infection on changes in
some biochemical parameters in serum of infected patients before and after treatment during a
period of one year, (from Feb, 2008 to Jan, 2009).
Samples of 50 infected patients who referred to Al-Kadimiyah Teaching Hospital,
were collected before and after 7 days of treatment.
The activity of liver enzymes (Gpt and Got) before treatment increased significantly as
it reached up to (8.47) u/L and 19.06 u/L, comparing with control values (6.455) u/L and
(8.39) u/L respectively. The activity of the enzymes decreased after treatment but the values
of Gpt and Got remained higher than the control values as reached 7-27 u/L, 11-64 u/L

Specimens of the hedgehog Hemiechinus auritus Gmelin. which were trapped in two places on the Eastern shores of the Tigris River, some 50 and 60 Km, south of Baghdad. central Iraq. were searched for ectoparasites. They revealed the following parasites: One species of Anoplura: polyplex spinulosa (Burm.), family Hoplople uridae, two species of fleas: Synostrnus pallidus (Tasch.) and Ctenocephalides felis (Bouche), family pulicidae, One mite species: Ornithonyssus bacoti (Hirst), family Macronyssidae and two tick species: Rhipicephalus leporis and R. turanicum family Ixodidae. All these ectoparasite species are new records on this hedgehog in Iraq.
