Factors Affecting the Formulation of Carbamazepine Extended Release Tablet
...Show More Authors

Carbamazepine is an anticonvulsant agent which acts on the central nervous system and used for the treatment of epilepsy. Carbamazepine was formulated as an oral extended release tablets using ethyl cellulose as retardant substance. Different types of tablets additives such as cellulose materials (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose  and microcrystalline cellulose ), lactose, calcium phosphate and solubilizing agents ( sodium lauryl sulphate and polyethylene glycol 6000) were utilized to study their effect on the release profile of drug from ethyl cellulose matrices. It was found that sodium carboxymethyl cellulose increased the carbamazepine release and the same effect was obtained when the same amount of microcrystalline cellulose used. The result also showed that sodium lauryl sulphate greatly enhanced the release of the drug compared to polyethylene glycol 6000. Also incorporating lactose led to an increase in the release of the drug while utilization of calcium phosphate slowed down the release of the drug.  The results of this study revealed that formula  which composed of 4% ethyl cellulose, 5% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, as well as 25.6% of lactose and 1% magnesium stearate is comply with United State Pharmacopea XXVIII and showed best  release profile comparable to that of the brand product Tegretol CR®. The shelf life was 3.6 years for the selected formula.

Key word: Carbamazepine, Ethyl cellulose, Extended release.

Evaluating of the association between ABO blood groups and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Iraqi patients
...Show More Authors
Abstract
<title>Background

Susceptibility to the pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has recently been associated with ABO blood groups in patients of different ethnicities. This study sought to understand the genetic association of this polymorphic system with risk of disease in Iraqi patients. Two outcomes of COVID-19, recovery and death, were also explored. ABO blood groups were determined in 300 hospitalized COVID-19 Iraqi patients (159 under therapy, 104 recovered, and 37 deceased) and 595 healthy blood donors. The detection kit for 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) RNA (PCR-Fluorescence Probing) was used in the diagnosis of disease.

Intrusion detection method for internet of things based on the spiking neural network and decision tree method
...Show More Authors

The prevalence of using the applications for the internet of things (IoT) in many human life fields such as economy, social life, and healthcare made IoT devices targets for many cyber-attacks. Besides, the resource limitation of IoT devices such as tiny battery power, small storage capacity, and low calculation speed made its security a big challenge for the researchers. Therefore, in this study, a new technique is proposed called intrusion detection system based on spike neural network and decision tree (IDS-SNNDT). In this method, the DT is used to select the optimal samples that will be hired as input to the SNN, while SNN utilized the non-leaky integrate neurons fire (NLIF) model in order to reduce latency and minimize devices

The Potential Barrier and Thermal Stability Dependence on PI Thickness of Al/PI/c-Si Schottky Diode
...Show More Authors

This research investigated the effectiveness of using different thickness values of polyimide (PI) interfacial layer in order to improve electrical and thermal properties of Al/ PI /c-Si capacitor. The PI spectra produced by poly(amic acid) (PAA) were characterized by using FT-IR analysis. After imidization of PAA, some absorption peaks vanished, whereas PI peaks appeared, due to the complete conversion of PAA to PI.

The results show that thermal decomposition resistance of polyimide films increases with the increase of polyimide thickness, because of the increase of the imide bond and the decrease of the average distance between amide groups.

A Continuous Flow Injection/Indirect Photometric Method for the Detection of Fosetyl Aluminum in Commercial Pesticide Formulations
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Because of their Physico‐chemical characteristics and its composition, the development of new specific analytical methodologies to determine some highly polar pesticides are required. The reported methods demand long analysis time, expensive instruments and prior extraction of pesticide for detection. The current work presents a new flow injection analysis method combined with indirect photometric detection for the determination of Fosetyl‐Aluminum (Fosetyl‐Al) in commercial formulations, with rapid and highly accurate determination involving only construction of manifold system combined with photometric detector without need some of the pre‐treatments to the sample before the analysis such a</p> ... Detection and Classification of The Osteoarthritis in Knee Joint Using Transfer Learning with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)
...Show More Authors

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease of human joints, especially the knee joint, due to significant weight of the body. This disease leads to rupture and degeneration of parts of the cartilage in the knee joint, which causes severe pain. Diagnosis of this disease can be obtained through X-ray. Deep learning has become a popular solution to medical issues due to its fast progress in recent years. This research aims to design and build a classification system to minimize the burden on doctors and help radiologists to assess the severity of the pain, enable them to make an optimal diagnosis and describe the correct treatment. Deep learning-based approaches, such as Convolution Neural Networks (CNNs), have been used to detect knee OA usin

Characterization of the Groundwater within Regional Aquifers and Suitability Assessment for Various Uses and Purposes-Western Iraq
...Show More Authors

Groundwater quality investigation has been carried out in the western part of Iraq (west longitude '40°40). The physicochemical analyses of 64 groundwater samples collected from seven aquifers were used in the determination of groundwater characterization and assessment. The concept of spatial hydrochemical bi-model was prepared for quantitative and qualitative interpretation. Hydrogeochemical data referred that the groundwater is of meteoric origin and has processes responsible for observed brackishness. The geochemical facies of the groundwater reveal that none of the anions and cations pairs exceed 50% and there are practically mixtures of multi-water types (such as Ca–Mg–Cl–HCO3 and Na+K–SO4–Cl water type) as do

Studying The Necessary Optimality Conditions and Approximates a Class of Sum Two Caputo–Katugampola Derivatives for FOCPs
...Show More Authors

In this paper, the necessary optimality conditions are studied and derived for a new class of the sum of two Caputo–Katugampola fractional derivatives of orders (α, ρ) and( β,ρ) with fixed the final boundary conditions. In the second study, the approximation of the left Caputo-Katugampola fractional derivative was obtained by using the shifted Chebyshev polynomials. We also use the Clenshaw and Curtis formula to approximate the integral from -1 to 1. Further, we find the critical points using the Rayleigh–Ritz method. The obtained approximation of the left fractional Caputo-Katugampola derivatives was added to the algorithm applied to the illustrative example so that we obtained the approximate results for the stat

A Comparative Study on the Active Constituents, Antioxidant Capacity and Anti-Cancer Activity of Cruciferous Vegetable Residues
...Show More Authors

This study is pointed out to estimate the effectiveness of two solvents in the extraction and evaluating the active ingredients and their antioxidant activity as well as anti-cancer efficiency. Therefore, residues from four different Brassica vegetables viz. broccoli, Brussels sprout, cauliflower, and red cherry radish were extracted using two procedures methods: methanolic and water crude extracts. Methanol extracts showed the highest content of total phenolic (TP), total flavonoids (TF), and total tannins (TT) for broccoli and Brussels sprouts residues. Methanolic extract of broccoli and Brussels sprouts residues showed the highest DPPH· scavenging activity (IC50 = 15.39 and 18.64 µg/ml). The methanol and water ex
