  This research presents the results of the tests of the physical, chemical and biological treatments performed on the industrial effluent of Al-Rashid Factory for vegetable oils during January to July, 2010.      Some environmental parameters such as temperature, electrical conductivity(ec), Biological oxygen demand(bod), chemical oxygen demand(cod), total suspended solids(tss), dissolved oxygen(o2) and total dissolved solids(tdc) have been investigated. Narcissus tazetta, a member of the Amaryllidaceae family, is known to be rich in bioactive metabolites such as alkaloids, phenolics and flavonoids, which have been found in nearly every species in this family. N. tazetta cultivated in Iraq, had not previously been studied for its active components; thus, the current study used phytochemical screening and phenolic compounds estimation, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The aim of this research is to shed some light on the level of

serum total sialic acid (TSA) in individuals with typhoid fever. The individuals were at age of (35-45) years old and (TSA) was measured by resorcinol reagents. The results showed significant reduction in (TSA) compared to control or normal individuals.
