Comparative study of logistic regression and artificial neural networks on predicting breast cancer cytology

<p>Currently, breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and a main reason of women death worldwide particularly in<strong> </strong>developing countries such as Iraq. our work aims to predict the type of tumor whether benign or malignant through models that were built using logistic regression and neural networks and we hope it will help doctors in detecting the type of breast tumor. Four models were set using binary logistic regression and two different types of artificial neural networks namely multilayer perceptron MLP and radial basis function RBF. Evaluation of validated and trained models was done using several performance metrics like accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and AUC (area under receiver operating characteristic ROC).   Dataset was downloaded from UCI ml repository; it is composed of 9 attributes and 699 samples. The findings are clearly showing that the RBF NN classifier is the best in prediction of the type of breast tumors since it had recorded the highest performance in terms of correct classification rate (accuracy), sensitivity, specificity, and AUC (area under Receiver Operating Characteristic ROC) among all other models.</p>

A comparative anatomic study of leaves of the genus Stachys L. in Iraq

The anatomic characteristics of the leaves of 22 taxa of Stachys L. representing seven of the currently recognized sections distributed in northern Iraq, were examined. The study did not found any variations in the characteristics of the stomata system of the leaves.Therewere variations with a good taxonomic value in other anatomic characteristics.Thevariations in characters of the mesophyll tissue in S.kurdica var.brevidens Bom ex Bhattacharjeewas bifacial but in S.kurdica var.kurdica Boiss. & Hohen.was unifacial .The study also found that the taxa S.benthamiana Bioss., S.lanigera (Bornm.) Pathological Nipple discharge: a comparison between breast ultrasound and mammography

Background:Nipple discharge is a relatively common complaint of females in reproductive age and after menopause.

Objectives: The aim of this stud was to compare the radiological findings of mammography and ultrasound in women with pathological nipple discharge of different pathology.

Methods:  mammography and ultrasound was done for a total of 50 patients attending the National center of Early detection of Breast cancer with pathological nipple discharge. Ultrasound guided FNA was performed for all cases, and histopathology was available for eleven case.

Results: ultrasound was able to provide clue of possible underlying cause for all pathological nipple discharge whereas mammography was negative in 54%

Evaluation of ANFIS and Regression Techniques in Estimating Soil Compression Index for Cohesive soils

Generally, direct measurement of soil compression index (Cc) is expensive and time-consuming. To save time and effort, indirect methods to obtain Cc may be an inexpensive option. Usually, the indirect methods are based on a correlation between some easier measuring descriptive variables such as liquid limit, soil density, and natural water content. This study used the ANFIS and regression methods to obtain Cc indirectly. To achieve the aim of this investigation, 177 undisturbed samples were collected from the cohesive soil in Sulaymaniyah Governorate in Iraq. Results of this study indicated that ANFIS models over-performed the Regression method in estimating Cc with R2 of 0.66 and 0.48 for both ANFIS and Regre

An Internet of Things Botnet Detection Model Using Regression Analysis and Linear Discrimination Analysis

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a hot area of research in recent years due to the significant advancements in the semiconductor industry, wireless communication technologies, and the realization of its ability in numerous applications such as smart homes, health care, control systems, and military. Furthermore, IoT devices inefficient security has led to an increase cybersecurity risks such as IoT botnets, which have become a serious threat. To counter this threat there is a need to develop a model for detecting IoT botnets.

This paper's contribution is to formulate the IoT botnet detection problem and introduce multiple linear regression (MLR) for modelling IoT botnet features with discriminating capability and alleviatin

New Versions of Liu-type Estimator in Weighted and non-weighted Mixed Regression Model

This paper considers and proposes new estimators that depend on the sample and on prior information in the case that they either are equally or are not equally important in the model. The prior information is described as linear stochastic restrictions. We study the properties and the performances of these estimators compared to other common estimators using the mean squared error as a criterion for the goodness of fit. A numerical example and a simulation study are proposed to explain the performance of the estimators.

Artificial Intelligent Models for Detection and Prediction of Lost Circulation Events: A Review

Lost circulation or losses in drilling fluid is one of the most important problems in the oil and gas industry, and it appeared at the beginning of this industry, which caused many problems during the drilling process, which may lead to closing the well and stopping the drilling process. The drilling muds are relatively expensive, especially the muds that contain oil-based mud or that contain special additives, so it is not economically beneficial to waste and lose these muds. The treatment of drilling fluid losses is also somewhat expensive as a result of the wasted time that it caused, as well as the high cost of materials used in the treatment such as heavy materials, cement, and others. The best way to deal with drilling fluid losses
