Background: Neonatal seizures are the most common neurological emergency in newborns, often associated with significant mortality and long-term neurodevelopmental disabilities. The aim is to determine the incidence, etiological causes, and risk factors associated with neonatal seizures.Patients and Methods: This prospective case-control study was conducted over eight months, from January 1 to August 31, 2022, the study was conducted at the neonatal care unit of Children Welfare Teaching Hospital. Neonates who developed clinically recognizable seizures before 28 days of life in term infants, or up to 44 weeks corrected gestational age in preterm infants, were included. Data collection involved demographic information, prenatal, perinatal, and postnatal history, family history, seizure characteristics, physical examination including growth parameters, and relevant laboratory and radiological investigations. Follow-up was conducted two months later via phone interviews. Results: Among 180 neonates included, 50% had seizures while the remaining served as controls. The incidence of seizures among admitted neonates was 7.7%. The three main etiologies were birth asphyxia, infection, and metabolic disorders, each accounting for 25.6% of cases. The mean age at seizure onset was 9.3 ± 9.1 days, with a median of 5 days. Males were more affected (male-to-female ratio 1.57:1), and seizures were more common in term infants. Significant associations were found with family history of neurological disease and neonatal death. Vaginal delivery was more linked to birth asphyxia, while cesarean delivery was associated with neurological malformations. Mortality was three times higher in neonates with seizures. Conclusion: Birth asphyxia, infection, and metabolic disorders are leading causes of neonatal seizures. A positive family history and prematurity increase susceptibility. Early onset may indicate etiology, but seizure type does not predict cause. Seizure presence significantly increases neonatal mortality.
Objectives: Determine the age and gender distribution of children who experience diabetes mellitus (DM) under
the age of 15 years and the presence of some associated factors that might be a predisposing factor for the
disease including obesity.
Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted at diabetic clinic in Children Welfare Teaching Hospital
in Baghdad City during 2006. The study sample included diabetic children less than 15 years of age. Data were
taken from the patients' record and by direct interview with the patients' parents. Information included
demographic data, as well as past history of the patient and his/her family relative to diabetes and other immune
diseases.
Results: Data analysis showed t
The proposal of nonlinear models is one of the most important methods in time series analysis, which has a wide potential for predicting various phenomena, including physical, engineering and economic, by studying the characteristics of random disturbances in order to arrive at accurate predictions.
In this, the autoregressive model with exogenous variable was built using a threshold as the first method, using two proposed approaches that were used to determine the best cutting point of [the predictability forward (forecasting) and the predictability in the time series (prediction), through the threshold point indicator]. B-J seasonal models are used as a second method based on the principle of the two proposed approaches in dete

Methodology: This observational study included 200 Covid-19 patients in privet centers from January 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022. All patients had fasting blood sugars and anti-Covid-19 antibodies. Anthropometric parameters were measured in all participants. Results: The patients were divided into two groups according to body weight; normal body weight (50) and excess body weight (150). There was a significant difference between them regarding age. Diabetes mellitus developed in 20% of normal weight patients while 80% of excess weight patients had diabetes (p=0.0001). Although the pathogenesis of PCOS is still not clear, many studies have shown that many factors within the ovary promote infection. With this syndrome, the disruption of the natural monthly ovulation process causes an imbalance in the body's hormones, and the high level of insulin in the body and the blood sugar imbalance leads to the occurrence of hyperandrogenism, which is the main factor for the occurrence of pathogens, in addition to genetic factors, if any. This study aims to identify this disease and its most important causes, symptoms, and modern treatments to prevent and get rid of it. Polycystic

Meningoceles are a form of open neural tube defect characterized by cystic dilatation of the meninges containing cerebrospinal fluid without the involvement of neural tissue. Neurosurgical intervention is necessary in the newborn period since survival in advancing ages is often impossible. Therefore, meningoceles are rarely reported in adulthood. Here, we discussed a case of a 23-year-old female who presented with a meningocele in the lumbosacral area since birth, which had not been operated on. Surgical management and intraoperative findings are also discussed.
