This research aimed to explore the use of foamed concrete (FC), a lightweight concrete, by replacing sand with crushed plastic from washing machines to improve environmental and thermal properties. The primary components included traditional materials like cement, water, and a foaming agent, along with the innovative use of waste plastic (WP). Utilizing Minitab software, the study applied the Response Surface Method to optimize mix designs, reducing the experimental mixtures to 31, which were then tested for dry density, porosity, water absorption, shrinkage, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and thermal conductivity. Results indicated a significant 24% reduction in dry density when using plastic as fine and coarse aggregates, yielding superior thermal insulation. The statistical approach facilitated a regression model correlating mix ingredients with strength and density. Notably, adding fly ash to the plastic aggregate mix maintained strength comparable to that of conventional mixes. The optimal mix, containing 20% fine and 70% coarse WP, achieved the highest density reduction with minimal strength loss. The study concludes that incorporating crushed plastic waste in FC significantly reduces density while retaining strength, offering both environmental benefits and enhanced thermal insulation, thereby presenting a sustainable solution for construction. Additionally, this innovative approach highlights the potential for large-scale WP use, reducing landfill pressure, decreasing carbon footprint, and promoting circular economy practices within the construction industry, paving the way for future green building innovations.
The main objective of this work was to adopt an environmentally friendly technology with enhanced results. The technology of magnetic water (MW) treatment system can be used in concrete mixture production instead of potable water (PW) to improve both workability and strength. Two types of concrete were adopted: normal concreter production with two grades 25 and 35 MPa and the self-compacted concrete (SCC) with 35 MPa grade. The concrete mixes containing MW instead of PW results showed that, for 25 MPa grade, an improvement in a compressive strength of 15.1, 14.8, and 10.2% was achieved for 7, 28, and 90 days, respectively. For 35 MPa grade, an improvement of 13.6, 11.5, and

Background. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a prevalent disease that, if not appropriately managed, can lead to a variety of problems, including diabetic foot. Glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), FBS, amylase, and lipase are important diabetic management indicators now employed as diagnostic tests. Objective. This study aimed to evaluate the value of amylase and lipase as predictive markers in patients with diabetic foot. Patients and methods. This study included 50 patients who reported to Baghdad Hospital with diabetic feet between November 2023 and February 2025. All patients had their HbA1c, amylase, lipase, and FBS levels tested. Means, independent t-tests, and the F-test were used in the statistical analysis. Results. The study evaluat

The prepared nanocomposites (ZNR@Gr/Cu-Ag) were examined by different techniques including Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV-Vis spectrophotometer and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results showed that the ZNR has been good cover by five layers of graphene and decorated with Ag and Cu NPs with particles size of about 10-15 nm. The ZNR@Gr/Cu-Ag nanocomposites exhibit high absorption behavior in ultraviolet (UV) region of sp

For the cobalt complex, Tetrahedral geometry shape was suggested, while other complexes that have nickel, copper and zinc ions were proposed as octahedral geometry shape. The experimental method was studied for prevention of corrosion carbon steel in 3.5% NaCl by using a novel Cefdinir derivations drugs. The results showed that metal complex was a strong corro

In this study, five proposed beams reinforced by GFRP bars as flexural and shear reinforcement with openings were numerically examined. The variables were the opening orientation (vertical and horizontal) and the number of openings. These openings were located within the flexural zone of the proposed beams. The result shows that the vertical openings had a significant effect over the horizontal openings on reducing the ultimate load and increasing the mid-span deflection compared with the control beam. Reliability analysis methods are used to evaluate the safety of reinforced concrete structures by evaluating the limit state function 𝑔(𝑋𝑖). For implicit limit state function and nonlinear analysis , an advanced reliability analysis methods are needed. Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) can be used in this case however, as the number of input variables increases, the time required for MCS also increases, making it a time consuming method especially for complex problems with implicit performance functions. In such cases, MCS-based FORM (First Order Reliability Method) and Artificial Neural Network-based FORM (ANN FORM) have been proposed as alternatives. However, it is important to note that both MCS-FORM and ANN-FORM can also be time-con
